1.1Scope
This operating manual is valid for the QPSK-PAL magazine SKP 2-00 from the serial number 200114
(with firmware version 1.17) and higher.
•1 × operating manual
The remote control and power supply unit are not included in scope of delivery of SKP 2-00. They
are available optionally or integrated in the basic unit of SKS x-xx.
2.2Description
The SKP 2-00 can either be operated in a headend basic unit SKS x-xx or in stand alone mode. The Twin
cassette modules are QPSK converters, that convert all programs modulated according to the DVB-S
standard and QPSK in two PAL modulated cable signals. Each module has two digital SAT IF inputs and
two RF outputs. The modules include two ducts working independently from each other. A duct comprises
a digital tuner, the digital signal processing and an output modulator.
Duct 1
Fig. 1SKP 2-00 - front view
The ducts can decode scrambled programs using a CA module. The programming of the modules is done
separately for each duct. Each duct can be levelled via OSD menu (on screen display). Processed input
signals are led to the active output combiner of the headend through RF output connectors.

The SKP 2-00 can either be operated in a headend basic unit SKS x-xx or in stand alone mode. SAT IF
signals of the LNB(s) are either provided through optionally available input splitters or directly to SAT IF
inputs.
3.1Installation and connection in a headend base unit
If the SKP 2-00 should operate in a headend basic unit SKS x-xx, the twin module is plugged in the output
collection field 1 and fastened with screws. Each free slot may be used. The power supply of the module
is provided by the output collection field.
Before inserting or changing a module, pull the mains plug of the headends basic unit from the socket!
Ground the base plate in order to avoid dangerous overvoltages according to EN 50083-1, EN 6072811:2010 (attention: risk of fire/death).
For detailed information on the headend base unit, refer to whose operating instructions.

Before installing modules, the power supply must be switched off. Ground the module acc. to EN 50083-1,
EN 60728-11:2010 in order to avoid dangerous overvoltages (attention: risk of fire/death). Use the
grounding screw attached to the device (see ã fig. 2 on page 5).
When using the SKP 2-00 in single operation mode, the power is supplied via the DC socket (see 9 in
fig. 2 on page 5). A separate power supply unit SKZ 5-00 is required for it. More units are connected by
means of the DC loop-through. One DC connection cable SKZ 4-00 is included in the delivery of the
SKP 2-00. Max. 4 pieces SKP 2-00 may be connected together in single operation mode.

In single operation mode of the SKP 2-00 the outputs of the twin cassettes must be combined together
with splitters. The splitters (SKV 2..8-00) may be used in connection with F-double sockets (CFA 3-00).
During initial operation of the SKP 2-00 one
must set first all output channels and the
relevant TV standard must be set!
4.1.1 Selecting duct (left or right)
To be able to program the left duct of the Twin
module, the programming selection switch
must be moved to the left.
After pressing the UHF key on the remote
control, a point lights up at the bottom right
corner of the display of the left duct.
This shows that the modulator is in
programming mode.
A test image and test sound are switched on.
4.1.2 Setting output channel
By pressing the CH / CH key, the desired
output channel may be set.
Special channels are labeled by a 2nd dot
between the digits on the display.

4.2Programming input channels
via OSD
After programming the output channels of the
SKP 2-00, the starting window will be
displayed. A measuring device or a TV
receiver must be connected to the output of the
SKP 2-00 or the active output combiner and
must be aligned with the respective output
channel.

Fig. 8Preprogramming
As some channels are pre-programmed in the
modules, a pre-set channel is opened.
Information about SAT position, frequency,
symbol rate, FEC and VPID is shown. The
image of the channel is only visible, if the head
end is configured for this satellite.
If no pre-programming exists, the starting
window (see fig. 7 on page 9) is displayed
permanently.
If a CA module is used, it may take some time
to open an encoded program.
The module to be programmed can be
selected by means of the programming
selection switch.
The measuring device must be aligned to the
respective output channel. If a monitor is used,
it must be connected to the respective duct via
the AV-Cinch outputs of the module. (Cinch/
RCA cables or cinch/RCA to scart cables)
After pressing the menu key, the main menu
opens.

set to "Universal LNB".
Selection submenu Scan Satellite
The menu item is activated by pressing the OK
key.
Programs are searched in the selected
satellite based on the settings of "Control
Mode for Scan". When selecting a certain LNB
level, like Low horizontal etc. only this level will
be scanned. Other settings, such as Universal
LNB, result in the entire satellite being
searched.
Scanning satellites is very time consuming. If
only certain programs are to be scanned, the
option "Scan Transponder" should be
selected.
Selection submenu Control Mode for Scan
With VOL

is selected. This setting is used during satellite
scanning. The following selection is possible:
The progress is shown in the lower part of the
display. After completion, the message
"Satellite searched" appears. The new
programs are saved at the end of the program
list and can now be loaded.
Selection submenu LNB Control Mode
With VOL
/ VOL , the desired LNB supply
is selected. Either "Normal" or "Power off" can
be selected. In case of "Power off", all LNB
settings are ignored. No control signals are
generated.
Fig. 16LNB Control Mode
•If a Quattro LNB is connected, the LNB
supply of all connected ducts must be set
to "Normal".
•If an input distributor is used, the left duct
of the first magazine on the front left side
always is responsible for the power supply
of the LNB connected to this input distributor. To do so, the LNB supply in the "Configuration" menu must be set to "Normal". All
the other SKP 2-00 connected to this input
distributor must be set to "Power off".
•Even in case of multi switch solution, only
one duct may take control over the multi
switch output connected to the input distributor.
Special values can be entered directly via the
numerical field on the remote control. With
activated DiSEqC control, the respective
satellite 1 to 4 is selected with Sat ID. After
entering the transponder data, the search is
started by pressing on scan.
