Connections
POWER: Accepts power from an external AC
Adapter with a 5.5mm/2.1mm barrel
connector. See Power Requirements
for more information.
MIDI IN: 7pin DIN connector that receives MIDI
information from an external source
(such as a MIDI footcontroller) which
transmits MIDI commands.
MIDI THRU: 7pin DIN connector that passes on the
MIDI information which is received at
the MIDI IN jack to other MIDI devices.
TO AMP (x2): 8pin DIN connectors that are used to
provide remote switching of an
amplifier’s functions via the supplied
amplifier-specific cable. Please note
that these two connectors are wired in
parallel and are therefore identical. The
ONLY time both connectors can be
used at the same time is when
controlling an amp that has two
footswitch jacks such as the Rivera M
and S series of amplifiers...
Basic Operation
Connect the MIDI IN, MIDI THRU (if necessary) and
the TO AMP jack(s) to the amplifier to be controlled,
followed by power last, as described in the Connections
section.
On power-up the LED will flash twice to indicate the
internal microprocessor is functioning properly. The
LED will then stay lit to indicate power is on and will
flash once every time a valid MIDI message is received.
Program the MIDI footcontroller to transmit the
appropriate MIDI Control Change messages as
required by the AC8 to control your amplifier, see the
MIDI Implementation section for more information.

AC8
Amplifier Controller
• The AC8 Amplifier Controller allows MIDI
control of amplifiers that have DIN/XLR or
other multi-conductor footswitch connectors.
• The AC8 can perform up to eight functions
such as - channel switching, boost(s) on/off,
effects loop on/off, reverb on/off... via MIDI.
• The AC8 and 9’ multi-conductor amp-specific
cable(s) are sold separately.
• The AC8 is compatible with the following MIDI
Footcontrollers - our FX1 & MFC5, the DMC
Ground Control (old & Pro), the Custom
Audio Electronics RS-10’s, the Rocktron All
Access and the Skrydstrup SC-1.
• A single LED indicates the AC8 is powered
and flashes whenever a valid MIDI message
is received.
• Powered by a 9VDC Adapter (like those from
Boss) with a 5.5mm/2.1mm barrel connector.
• Housed in a compact (4.80" x 3.75" x 1.40")
and rugged .064” thick aluminum enclosure
for years of reliable use and performance.
• Brushed finish with black anodize coating and
laser-engraved printing.

Revision 3
MIDI Channel: 16 Control Changes
(Received)
Control Change: 88 - 95 Latching
(Received) 112 - 119 Momentary
Control Value 0 = Off
Control Value 127 = On
Notes:
1. The above Control Change messages are the
ONLY messages that the AC8 receives and does
something with, all others are ignored.
Each of the amplifiers that the AC8 can control
uses some of the above messages, not all of them.
So when using the AC8 to control your amplifier,
make sure that ONLY the messages listed for your
particular amplifier are transmitted by your
footcontroller. Transmitting any of the other
messages listed above can result in the AC8
switching something unexpectedly.
2. On power-up, all AC8 functions are off.
3. For DMC Ground Control users:
GCX#2 L1 - L8 Lat.’d = Control Change 88 - 95
GCX#2 L1 - L8 Mom. = Control Change 112 - 119
4. Control Value 0/Off is ignored for Control Changes
112 - 114 (Momentary).
