Best Practices for Use of PIVOT Suction Cup Mounts
Aircraft Based Suction Cups
Prior to use, clean and sanitize the suction cup and body of the PIVOT suction cup mount using
an isopropyl alcohol-based solvents or wipe. Ensure the clear suction-cup and the window
surface is completely dry prior to use. Trapped liquid alcohol can damage the device or window
over long periods of time.
Note: The use of bleach-based solvents are not recommended as they may cause
damage to the suction cup.
For a standard Captain and First Officer crew compliment, PIVOT recommends stowage of a
spare suction cup mount onboard in the event of damage, loss, or an unserviceable unit.
Daily Inspection Procedure
PIVOT Suction Cup Mounts should be removed, inspected, and stowed upon daily termination
of flight operations. PIVOT Suction Cup Mounts should also be removed, inspected, and
reinstalled upon any crew change. If, in the experience and judgement of the aircrew, the
PIVOT Suction Cup Mount is damaged, or otherwise approaching unserviceability, the aircrew
will arrange to have the unit replaced and continue.
Scratches and other surface imperfections are typical and do not affect the performance of the
device.
If a discrepancy is identified, remove the device from service and either repair or replace. If any
part is visibly damaged, loose, or missing, remove the device from service and either repair or
replace before further use. All surfaces of the device may be wiped with a solvent-free cleaner
to remove any accumulated dirt or debris prior to being re-installed.

Replacement Intervals
Adherence to the Daily Inspection Procedure will provide operators early identification of
degraded performance. PIVOT Suction Cup Mounts only require replacement due to damage or
degraded performance as observed by the user, and do not have a date-based replacement
interval. PIVOT Suction Cup Mounts have been proven to function as intended for years when
the above guidance is followed. Use of the Daily Inspection Procedure reduces environmental
and financial waste created by date-based interval replacement recommendations which do not
accurately reflect the true serviceability of the unit.
