The purpose of this AI-12 FPD Installation Manual is to provide information to ensure proper
installation and operation of this product.
This product has been tested and is “FAA-PMA” approved. It is the responsibility of those
desiring to install these items on or within a specific type or class of certified aircraft to
document and obtain approval for an acceptable installation from the Administrator.
Unpacking and Inspection of AI-12 FPD
Exercise extreme care when unpacking the AI-12 FPD Make a visual inspection of the unit for
evidence of damage incurred during shipment. If a claim for damage is to be made, unit must be
returned in the original packaging.

WARRANTY INFORMATION
Avionics Innovations warrants the AI-12 FPD against material or manufacturing defects for a
period of one year from the date of installation.
Avionics Innovations will, upon receipt of the failed unit, repair or replace the unit at our
discretion. Avionics Innovations will pay UPS Ground shipping charges for warrantied items.
Charges for express shipment will be the responsibility of the sender.
This warranty will be void if the unit has been tampered with or opened by unauthorized
personnel.
To validate warranty:
1.) Return the enclosed warranty registration form to Avionics Innovations or complete the
online Warranty Application at www.avionicsinnovations.com
This warranty is not transferable without a new warranty card on file for the new owner, any
implied warranties expire at the expiration date of this warranty. WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE
FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. This warranty does not cover a
defect that has resulted from improper or unreasonable use or maintenance as determined by us.
This warranty is void if there is any attempt to disassemble this product without factory
authorization. During the warranty period , the unit must be returned to Avionics Innovations
and, at owners option, will be repaired or replaced at no charge. IMPORTANT: Any labor
charges associated with the removal of product or related trouble shooting by any firm other than
Avionics Innovations will not be covered.

1. Select an appropriate location for the AI-12 FPD
A. A load and stress analysis of the installation location is nessecary to ensure
adequate structural integrity. It is the responsbility of the installer to ensure the
structure is adequate for the installation of this unit.
2. Mount the AI-12 FPD (Refer to Drawing attached to this manual)
3. Wire unit (Refer to Drawing attached to this manual)
A. Use RG59 for video signal. Do not split the video signal to the display. Spliting
the signal will result in a poor video signal for the AI-12 FPD.
B. Use 20G MIL-W-22759/16 wire for power and ground wiring.
NOTE
Hardware
All hardware shall be of an approved aviation standard type and appropriate backing
plates are to be manufactured for security of the panel.
Use appropriate AN or MS screws or bolts with washers to install your A1-12 FPD. The
monitor utilizes four mounting holes with nut plates on the back of the case to mount the
monitor to the interior of the aircraft. Four 10-32 screws are used to attach the monitor to
the structure. The lengths of the screws are determined by the thickness of the structure
the panel is being attached. Do not allow the screw or bolt to enter the back of the panel
any more than 1/2 inch as this could damage internal the monitor.

Power
The A1-12 FPD accepts 28 VDC. The white wire is positive, and the white/blue wire is
negative/ground.
Video
The A1-12 FPD accepts a composite NTSC video signal.
Note: Do not split the video source to two or more inputs as this may not provide a
quality video signal.

POST INSTALLATION CHECKOUT
1. Inspect monitor for any physical damage.
2.
Check monitor for proper operation
Note: Panel will not power up until a video signal is applied.
Display Control
The AI-12 FPD is supplied with an infrared remote control. This remote control is a generic
remote operating on a SONY based code). Aim the remote at the AI-12 FPD, The “POWER”
button will turn on the OSD (On Screen Display) menu and cycle through the menu by repeated
pushing of the button. The “CH ▲▼ “ selects fields in the previously selected menu. The “VOL
▲▼” adjusts the selected item. After 5 seconds with no signal from the Remote Control, the
MENU will close and changes will be saved. If the time for the menu (OSD) is not long enough
this time can be extended through your menu selection.
