General Information
The purpose of this AI-AM/FM Receiver Operation and Installation Manual is to provide
information to ensure proper installation and operation of this product.
This product has been tested and is “FAA-PMA” approved. It is the responsability of those
desiring to install this item on or within a specific type or class of certified aircraft to document
and obtain approval for an acceptable installation from the Administrator.
Unpacking and Inspection of AI-AM/FM Receiver
Exercise extreme care when unpacking the AI-AM/FM Receiver. Make a visual inspection of the
unit for evidence of damage incurred during shipment. If a claim for damage is to be made, unit
must be returned in the original packaging.

OPERATION OF CONTROLS
ALL BUTTON NAMES ARE IN BOLD TYPE
1. FM BAND BUTTON
(RADIO ON / BAND SELECT)
This button functions as a POWER switch for the radio and also as radio frequency band select switch.
Press BAND button to turn on the radio, during radio operation, press BAND button once or repeatedly to change bands
(FM1/FM2/FM3).
2. and + AUDIO LEVEL CONTROL BUTTONS
These and + buttons normally function as the Volume control. Also used for adjusting the Bass, Treble, Balance and Fader
audio levels, after selecting mode with SEL button. If no adjustment is made within 5 seconds after mode is displayed, it reverts to
"VOLUME". (also see item re: SEL button).
VOLUME: Press the + button to increase, or - to decrease sound level.
BASS: While "BAS" is being displayed, press the + button to increase, or press to decrease the bass level.
TREBLE: While "TRE" is being displayed, press the + button to increase, or press to decrease level. BALANCE: While
"BAL" is being displayed, press the + or button to level balance of speakers left to right.
FADER: While "FAD" is being displayed, press the + or button to select center or rear audio position, front option not
available.
3. POWER OFF BUTTON
Press this button to turn the power OFF. To turn on the power to the radio, press BAND button .
4. SEL (AUDIO ADJUST MODE) BUTTON
Press SEL button to select Volume / Bass / Treble / Balance / Fader adjustment mode. Each time button is pressed, accessed
selection is displayed.
While selection is being displayed, press (within 5 seconds) either - or + buttons to adjust level as desired ).
Note: "VOLUME" is the priority mode which overrides SEL button, allowing control over sound level at any time without having
to enter SEL. Also, note that although not displayed, 5 seconds after the last selection or adjustment is made, mode reverts to
"VOLUME".
5. STATION PRESET BUTTONS (1-6)
These buttons have a dual function, depending on how long they are held in the depressed position Use these buttons to memorize
or recall up to 18 FM selections.
SETTING PRESET SELECTIONS
1.Select desired band FM1/FM2/FM3 with the BAND select button.
2. Tune in desired radio station with < SEEK or SEEK > buttons or TUNE ∧∧ and TUNE ∨∨ buttons.

RECALLING PRESET STATIONS

ST (STEREO) (FM)
During auto seek, tuning with the SEEK > and < SEEK buttons, all receivable stations are tuned in. "ST" indicator appears on
disc-play only whenever an actual stereo broadcast station is being received.
6. SEEK > and < SEEK:TUNE ∨∨ and TUNE ∧∧
These buttons have multiple functions as follows:
Tune ∨∨ and Tune ∧∧ (RADIO)
During radio operation, press to seek and tune only receivable stations. Pressing the Tune ∧∧ tunes (upwards) to the next
receivable station. Pressing the Tune ∨∨ tunes (downward) to the lower receivable station.
7. MANUAL TUNING: (RADIO)
TUNE ∨∨ and TUNE ∧∧
During radio operation, these buttons may be used for manual rapid tuning, by digits. Also, very helpful whenever the desired
station is too weak to tune in with the SEEK > and < SEEK buttons.
Press either the Tune ∧∧ and Tune ∨∨ button once or repeatedly to change displayed frequency by digits. Press and HOLD button
to change rapidly.
8. MUTE BUTTON
The MUTE button is used to silence the radio audio output, press it again to return to the previous audio level.
9. STORE
This feature is especially helpful while traveling cross-country through unfamiliar radio broadcasting territory.
Once activated, the system automatically scans upscale seeking receivable stations starting from
only. Repeat procedure on other FM bands as desired.
LISTENING TO THE RADIO
OPERATION
1. Press BAND button to turn the power on.
2. Select desired radio frequency band, also with the BAND
button, Selection appears on display ( FM1 / FM2 / FM3).
3. While viewing display, select desired station with the SEEK or TUNE buttons.
4. Adjust VOLUME / BALANCE / BASS / TREBLE to desired level.
NOTES: When an FM stereo station is tuned in, the "ST" indicator will appear on display.
1. Press and HOLD STORE button (for at least 3 seconds) until displayed frequency starts to change, then release.

2. Once the scanning stops, "P1" (pre-set 1) is tuned in.
Note: STORE memory programming will erase any previous preset program and will affect current band selection

SEARCHING FOR STATIONS AUTOMATICALLY
1. Select the desired band with BAND button.
2. Press either one of the SEEK buttons.
The scanning stops on the next receivable station. Press button repeatedly until the desired station is received.
TUNING IN BY ADJUSTING THE FREQUENCY
-MANUAL TUNING
Select the desired band with BAND button, then press either of the manual tuning buttons.
MEMORIZING STATIONS
Each PRESET button (1-6) can be programmed to memorize one station per BAND selection ( FM1 / FM2 / FM3).
1. Select desired band with the BAND button.
2. Tune in desired station with the SEEK or TUNE buttons.
3. Press and HOLD one of the PRESET buttons for at least 3 seconds, "P" indicator and button number selected will appear on
display after station has been stored in the memory.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to enter additional stations.
Repeat entire procedure for each band to memorize a total of 18 stations.
5. Memory will be erased with power interruptions.

WARRANTY INFORMATION
Avionics Innovations warrants the AI-AM/FM RECEIVER Player against material or manufacturing defects for a period of one
year from the date of installation.
Avionics Innovations will, upon receipt of the failed unit, repair or replace the unit at our discretion. Avionics Innovations will pay
UPS Ground shipping charges for warrantied items. Charges for express shipment will be the responibility of the sender.
This warranty will be void if the unit has been tampered with or opened by unauthorized personnel.
To validate warranty you must return:
1.) The enclosed warranty registration form to Avionics Innovations with the following information:
1. Date of installation
2. Model and S/N of unit
3. Model and make of aircraft
4. Registration number
5. Owners name and address
6. Name of installing agency
7. Send to:Avionics Innovations
2. ) A copy of the FAA form # 337 to validate the installation.
The warranty will not be valid if either one or both of these documents is not submitted to Avionics Innovations.
This warranty is not transferable . Any implied warranties expire at the expiration date of this warranty. WE SHALL NOT BE
LIABLE FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. This warranty does not cover a defect that has resulted
from improper or unreasonable use or maintenance as determined by us. This warranty is void if there is any attempt to
disassemble this product without factory authorization. During the warranty period , the unit must be returned to Avionics
Innovations and, at own option, will be repaired or replaced at no charge. IMPORTANT: Any labor charges associated with the
removal of product or related trouble shooting by any firm other than Avionics Innovations will not be covered.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

FOR TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PLEASE CALL 760-788-2602 8:00 AM TO 5:00 PM PST.
ALL REPAIRS AND RETURNS ARE PROCESSED THROUGH AVIONICS INNOVATIONS
1. SELECT AN APPROPRIATE LOCATION IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FOR THE AI-AM/FM RECEIVER TRAY.
A. LOCATION SHOULD BE AS NEAR TO CENTER TO MAXIMIZE VIEWING QUALITY.
2. MOUNT TRAY IN LOCATION USING 4 6/32 COUNTERSUNK SCREWS.
SCREWS MUST MOUNT FLUSH TO THE INSIDE OF THE TRAY FOR CLEARENCE.
3. WIRE THE UNIT AS PER DIAGRAM.
4. INSTALL ANTENNA ON BOTTOM OR TOP OF AIRCRAFT USING APPROVED PRACTICES AND
DATA.
5. USE RG 142 FOR ANTENNA LEAD.
INSTALLATION NOTES:
NOTE
1. IN SOME INSTALLATIONS THE RADIO RECEPTION MAY BE POOR ON THE GROUND. THIS IS NORMAL, AN
IN-FLIGHT OPERATIONAL CHECK SHOULD BE ACCOMPLISHED AFTER INSTALLATION TO ENSURE
PROPER RADIO RECEPTION.
2. *** ( 14 VOLT SYSTEMS ) LOW BATTERIES MAY HINDER OPERATION PRIOR TO ENGINE START
3. CONSULT THE INTERCOM MANUFACTURER FOR SPECIFICATIONS AND HOOKUP INSTRUCTIONS.
4. ON MONO INSTALLATIONS REFER TO THE INSTALLATION SCHEMATIC FOR PROPER
INSTALLATION.
5. UNIT MUST BE COMPLETELY SEATED IN TRAY TO ENSURE PROPER CONNECTION.
POST INSTALLATION CHECKOUT
1. ENSURE UNIT OPERATES ACCORDING TO OPERATION OF CONTROLS EARLIER IN THIS MANUAL

THIS UNIT IS EQUIPED WITH A CLOCK FUNTION, BUT DUE TO THE DIFFERENT VOLTAGE
ENVIRONMENTS THIS UNIT SERVES, IT CANNOT BE RELIED ON AS A TIME KEEPING DEVICE. PLEASE
ENSURE OWNER IS BREIFED ON THIS NOTE.
