AV-2008 2.17 with Remote Access via DTMF
The AV-2008D is a new member in the Series 2000. The AV-2008D supports the
LED keypads (AV-701, AV702) and DTMF remote control via any telephone with
DTMF generator.
General Description
control via any phone, enables home automation and great ease of remote control for
your security application. The DTMF remote control functions:
Î Check the status of the control panel (Armed/Disarm, Alarm in progress) Î Arm or disarm the control panel Î Bypass zones or clear all bypassed zones Î Stop the dialer report during alarm Î Momentary activate A1 (alarm) output for three seconds
The same options are available when a call is received from the control panel during
an alarm condition.
To enable the DTMF control program address 074/6 “Enable remote access by
telephone”, and 074 - 2 “Enable A1 activation by telephone”.
Remote access to the control panel via telephone is available to any user holding a
valid user code. The AV-2008D generates few tunes that help the user to get the panel
status and function conformation.
Keypad online conformation
When the control panel detects the first DTMF key, 5 short beeps will be sounded at
the keypads. The keypad activation shows the user at the remote site that a DTMF
connection takes place (in case of mistaken connection or similar).
During the remote access the keypad display will show 'd' and all the LEDs will blink
fast from time to time.
When the call ends, the 3 short beeps will be sounded at the keypads. When the user
code is in process the keypad display show a line for each code number entry
(disclose the code), then each DTMF number pressed show the received number.
Note: The keypad buzzer or other loud sounds may jam your DTMF entries, in
case the keypad is close to your DTMF telephone, during testing disable the
buzzer.

Call the AV-2008D for remote functions
To get on-line, call the control panel. The control panel will answer the call after the
programmed number of rings at address 091 (or following the “bypass answering
machine" procedure). When answering the call, the control panel sends a greeting
tune sound, during the next 5 seconds press a telephone key.
When entering the DTMF commands wait for “quit” period, if entering
commands during the system confirmation tunes, or other tunes the panel may
miss the DTMF entries.
When a valid user code is received, followed by # (# is the Enter key) the control
panel acknowledges it by a special tune. Otherwise an error tune is sounded.
After the control panel acknowledges the user code, it will stay ON-LINE no longer
than 3 minutes, providing enough time for the user to perform various operations
If the panel does not detect activity, it will shorten the ON-LINE time and, eventually,
will hang up.
If during this period the control panel does not detect a DTMF tone, it will continue
trying to establish a modem connection (the on-board modem will be activated). To
gain access to the control panel the user must enter his code after the greeting tune.
After the first key, he has 30 seconds to complete the procedure.
The AV-2008D calls the user at alarm
When the control panel calls the user during alarm, it will first sound the siren for
about 30 seconds (to shorten this feature at address 085 “Tel. Message Time”, to 30,
as default is 50 seconds). The siren sound will stop ten seconds before the end of the
call and a greeting tune will be sounded, after the greeting tune enter your code
followed by #. To stop the dialer enter 6#, to get panel status enter 7#, to disarm the
panel enter 2#. To end the process press 9#.
Commands
Each command must be followed by the '#' key (Enter). The control panel waits 4
seconds between the keys typed. When this time expires, previous keys input will be
discarded.
The key '*' cancels previous input.
The commands:
[0 X #] - Bypass zone (# is the Enter key)
X is Bypassed zone 1 to 8
To clear all bypassed zone: 0 9 #
2
The zone bypass command is valid only when the system is in Disarm position and
not in Alarm position.
[1 #]- Arm control panel. The control panel will be armed even with open zones
After the arming, a confirmation tune followed by an "armed" tune will be sounded
("Armed" tune: Short beep followed by a long tone.).
The user can wait a few seconds to be sure that no alarm has been caused by open
zones. In this case, an Alarm tune (siren sound) will be sounded.
[2 #] - Disarm control panel. The control panel will be disarmed. A confirmation tune
followed by a "disarmed" tune will be sounded ("Disarmed" tune: Five short beeps).
[31 #] - Activates A1 output for 3 seconds.
[6 #] - Stops dialer. The dialer will stop calling the programmed telephone numbers.
This will affect only the current dialing process. A new alarm will re-start the dialer.
Note that if the user answered a call from the panel or called the panel during a
dialing period without Arming/Disarming/Stopping the dialer, the dialer will restart
the cycle from the beginning.
[7 #] - Check control panel status. The control panel will answer with an Armed or
Disarmed tune followed by an Alarm tune if it is in an alarm condition.
[8X #] - "Learn" function. Using this command, the user can become familiar with the
various sounds used by the control panel in the remote access procedure. Further
details find in the dedicated paragraph. (X - The required sound)
[9 #] - End call. The control panel will sound a confirmation tune and will hang up.
Description of the sounds used by the control panel.
Using the "learn" function [8X #] the user will identify the following tunes:
1 - Greeting tune. Will be heard only once, after the control panel answers the call (or
it calls the user). It indicates that the panel expects a valid user code.
2 - "User code" accepted.
.
3
3 - "Error" - Will be sounded in the following cases:
Incorrect User code
Command not defined/valid
Incorrect input
Trying to bypass an undefined zone?
Command could be not carried on
On-line time out, call ends
4 - "Confirmation" - Will confirm that the requested action has been carried on.
5 - "Armed"- Control panel is Armed.
6 - "Disarmed" - Control panel is Disarmed.
7 - "Alarm On" - Control panel is in Alarm position. This warning will be sounded
from time to time during idle periods.
8 - "Cancel"- Will be sounded in the following cases:
Key '*' pressed clearing previous input.
Key '#' pressed but there was no previous input.
Time out during command entry (clears pressed input)
Time out (10 seconds) from last command
Note: After 2 consecutive time outs, the control panel ends the call. This means that
after about 25 seconds of no activity the control panel hangs up (an "Error" tune will
be sounded).
The Control panel during Remote Access
The Control panel is fully operational during Remote Access via telephone.
The call is locally terminated in the following cases:
Arming / Disarming using the keypads or the mechanical key.
Auto Arming (as programmed).
Holding down the reset '9' key in Disarmed mode.
Entering the "Fault - find" test mode.

Changing control panel operation mode by Remote Control
Arming the control panel by the remote user is possible even when zones are troubled.
"Arming/Disarming" events are reported to control station as well with the bypassed
zones and restored zones events (if selected by programming).
History log
Each call, confirmed by a valid user code, is recorded in the events history.
Each "Arming/Disarming" is recorded in the events history.
"Last users" history will display 'ut' for "u"ser by "t"elephone, followed by the User
number.
The incoming telephone call will be displayed by the events history as 'Cx' where x is
the number of the user.
The history log will display the users as usual, but the PC program will mention that
the Arming/Disarming was performed by remote access.
Remote function example
For example let’s assume that your kid arrived home and he complains that he cannot
disarm the alarm panel.
) Call your alarm telephone number (tell kids not to pick up the phone) )After few rings your system answer; greeting tune is heard ) Enter your user code; 1 2 3 4 # ) Confirmation tune is heard, if alarm is on, siren tune is heard ) Press 2 #; wait for the confirmation tune ) To re-check the system status press 7 #; wait for the system status tune
In case the system is still on re-enter 2 # or try to enter your user code then 2 #
