5. Do not use this apparatus near water.

7. Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
8. Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
9. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two blades with one wider that the other.
A grounding type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wide blade or the third prong is provided for your safety. If the
provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult and electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.
10. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from
the apparatus.
11. Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
12. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as
power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to
rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped.
13. WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not expose this apparatus to rain or moisture.
14. Lightning - For added protection for this product during a lightning storm, or when it is left unattended and unused for long periods of time,
unplug the host system (Ex. computer) from the wall power outlet, and disconnect the antenna or cable system. This will prevent damage to
the product due to lightning and power-line surges.
15. Power Lines - An outside antenna system should not be located in the vicinity of overhead power lines or other light or power circuits, or
where it can fall into such power lines or circuits.
16. Antenna Installation - When installing an outside antenna system, extreme care should be taken to keep it from touching such power lines or
circuits, as contact with them may be fatal.
17. Outdoor Antenna Grounding - If an outside antenna is connected to the product, be sure that the antenna system is grounded so as to
provide some protection against voltage surges and built up static charges. Article 810.21 of the National Electric Code, ANSI/NFPA No.70,
provides information with regard to proper grounding of the mast and supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to the antenna
discharge unit, size of grounding conductors, location of antenna-discharge unit, connection of grounding electrodes, and requirements for
the grounding electrode.
18. NOTE to CATV System Installer-This reminder is provided to call the CATV systems installer's attention to Section 820.93 of the National
Electric Code, ANSI/NFPA 70:2005 (for US/Canada) and/or EN60728-11:2005 standard (for Europe), which provide guidelines for proper
grounding and, in particular, specify that the Coaxial cable shield shall be connected to the grounding system of the building, as close to the
point of cable entry as practical.
Battery Safety Information:
Store the batteries in a cool dry place.
Do not dispose of used batteries in domestic waste. Dispose of batteries at special collection points or return to point of sale if applies.
Remove the batteries during long periods of non-use. Always remove exhausted batteries from the remote control. Battery leakage and
corrosion can damage this remote control, dispose of batteries safely.
Do not mix old and new batteries.
Do not mix different types of batteries: alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium).

AVerMedia regularly releases the latest version of firmware for AVerLife XVision HD. Having the latest
firmware enhances the functionality of AVerLife XVision HD.
Please go to http://www.avermedia.com/avertv/ to download the most updated firmware package. This
device will automatically detect if a new firmware is available for upgrade. Please make sure your network
is properly set up before firmware upgrade (See p.19 for more detail).

2.1 Touch Panel Display on the Front Panel
On-screen display on the left side indicates the current status of TV/Video/Music/Photo, while the touch panel on the right provides quick access
to commonly used functions.

The figure below shows the proper cable connections between AVerLife XVision HD and your audio/video equipments.
Use one of the connections (A) ,(B) and (C) below to output the signal to your TV. The (A) (B) (C) connections serve the same purpose; use only
one at a time.

Step 1:
Use your fingertip to flip open the lid on the left of the front panel.
Step 2:
Insert your HDD with the sticker-side up into the slot until the front edge of your
HDD aligns with the line at the slot opening.

Use your fingertip to flip open the lid on the left of the front panel.
Step 2:
Use your fingertip to flip upward to loosen the plastic holder of the HDD slot.
Hold and pull the plastic holder outwards horizontally to move your HDD from
the slot.

3.1 Inserting and Removing the HDD
Before inserting the HDD, please unplug AVerLife XVision HD from the power supply to avoid data loss.

Step 3:
Push back the plastic holder of the HDD until it clicks and then place the lid back
until it clicks in place.
*AVerLife XVision HD only reads one HDD at a time. Do not insert more than one HDD (either internal or external one) simultaneously.
*Do not use USB hub for HDD connection.
*AVerLife XVision HD only supports 2.5 inch HDD with a 9.5mm height.
* The HDD does not support hot plug and play function.
Step 1:
Press OK to enter the option menu. Use ▲/▼to select your desired OSD
(on-screen display) language, and press OK to confirm. Then use▼to select
Next and press OK to continue the setting.
Step 2:
When the welcome page appears, select Next and then press OK to continue.
Step 3:
Press OK to enter the option menu. Use ▲/▼and then OK to set the country
where you are located. Then use▼to select Next and press OK to continue the
setting.
*This setting is for the widget.
Step 4:
Press OK to enter the option menu. Use ▲/▼and then OK to set the city where
you are located. Then use▼to select Next and press OK to continue the setting.
*This setting is for the widget.
Step 5:
Press OK to enter the option menu. Use ▲/▼to select the time zone of your
location, and press OK to confirm. Then use▼to select Next and press OK to
continue the setting.

3.2 First Start Configuration Wizard
The first time you power on the AVerLife XVision HD unit, the Setup Wizard will show automatically as the default picture. The following steps will
guide you through to complete the initial configurations:

Step 6:
Press OK to enter the option menu. Use ▲/▼to select the region of your
location for TV signal, and press OK to confirm. Then use▼to select Next and
press OK to continue the setting.
Step 7:
Select Scan and press OK. The AVerLife XVision HD will then start to scan Analog
TV channels (ATV) in your area. To cancel the scanning process, select Cancel.
After the process finished, a list of available channels will be shown. Press OK to
continue the setting.
Step 8:
Select Scan to repeat the searching process for Digital TV channels (DTV). Once
finished, press OK. After the process finished, a list of available channels will be
shown. Press OK to continue the setting.
Step 9:
Select Finish and press OK to exit the wizard and start watching live TV.
* If you would like to activate the initial configuration again, please go to Setting > TV Settings > Initial Setting Wizard.
* The system will automatically detect the status of your network. If no network connection is detected, please make sure your network is
properly set up and connected. You can also configure network connection setups later via System Setting (See p.19 for more details).

Basic Operation
- Press to switch among Analog TV, Digital TV, and external video
source.
- Press Numeric Keypad to directly go to a specific channel.

4.1 Calling Up a Menu Display
Press the HOM E button on the remote control to bring up the main menu. Use ◄ or ► to make selections on the menu and OK to confirm a
selection. The screenshot below shows the main menu.

- Press to exit to the live TV.
Electronic Program Guide (EPG)
- EPG provides you with continuously updated menus with information for
current and upcoming programs. On this page, you can see the channel list,
check program schedules of the upcoming whole week, read program
information, and choose to watch or record the desired program.
- Press to display the on-screen menu and select Program Guide.
Or
Press to view EPG (Electronic Program Guide).
- Press ◄ to check the EPG for the previous day, or ►to check the EPG for the
next day.
Scheduled Recording
- Press ▲/▼ to select a desired active program on the EPG guide. Then press
on the remote to schedule-record a coming-up program.
Instant Recording
- Press to start recording. The mark on the screen indicates the
recording is active right now.
- Press or to stop recording. Select OK to confirm.
Manual Recording
- Press to display the on-screen menu and select Manual Recording to
custom-record a program.
- Press OK and then ▲/▼ to adjust the start time, desired duration of the
recording, and regular recording mode for the program you are watching.
Select OK to confirm.
Subtitle language
Press to display the on-screen menu and select Subtitle.
Or
Press to display the subtitle if available.
Audio
Press to display the on-screen menu and select Audio.
Or
Press to switch between different audio modes. The available audio
modes depend on the TV signal source.
Information
Press to display the on-screen menu and select Info.
Or
Press to display the on-screen information of TV program (number, title,
program name, channel name, duration, start time & end time). Press again to
hide it.

Description
Main Menu
Press to directly access the main screen. In Music/Photo/Video
submenus, you can play multimedia files. Use ◄ or ►to select a preferred
category.
Before playing, please choose one of the sources among your own storage device,
Media Servers, and Network Shares. Then press OK to enter the sub-menu.
The screen will display the files in the selected category. Use the navigation keys
◄/►/▲/▼ to select the item you want to play. Then press OK to start playing.
Press to stop the playback and go back to the list.
Press to directly access the main page.
Removing External Storage
In order to avoid data loss, it is highly recommended to safely remove your
external storage device.
Step 1:
Press on the remote control.
Step 2:
Select the storage device you want to remove.
Step 3:
Press OK to remove it.
Media Server
If you wish to access files shared by other computers or device on the same
network, select Media Server. Use ▲/▼ to select the desired server and press OK
to browse the media files.
Network Shares (via Samba)
If you wish to access files shared by other computers on the same network (via
Windows Network Neighborhood), select Network Shares. All the available media
sources will then be detected and shown automatically. Use ▲/▼ to select the
sources and press OK. Input user name and password, then press OK to confirm.
Navigate to the file you wish to play and press OK.
*Please insert the HDD before using this function.
4.3 Media Playback
The media player enables you to play video/music/photo files in your own HDD or other external storage devices.
Before entering the submenu, insert the external storage device first (USB 2.0 storage, HDD, eSata disk). AVerL ife X Visi on H D supports various
media file formats as below:

Searching
Before using this function, please enable file indexing via Settings > System
Settings > File Indexing > ON.
Step 1:
Go to Music > Search.
Step 2:
Input the keywords. After finished, select OK to search for the specific music
media file.

start viewing photo in full screen.
- Press to start viewing photo in slideshow mode.
Press to pause photo slideshow. Press to resume the

Photo transition effect: Press OK repeatedly to
toggle among different transition effects for
slideshow
(Fade/Replace/Zoom/Random/Normal).
Set interval time: Press OK repeatedly to set
interval time between each slide displays (2s, 5s,
10s, 20s, 30s).
Zoom & Pan:
- Press OK repeatedly to zoom and pan.
Then press VOL / to zoom in/out.

Torrent Files Downloading
BitTorrent is a peer-to-peer file sharing protocol used for distributing large
amounts of data.
Before using this function, please make sure the AVerLife XVision HD is properly
connected to a LAN with Internet access.
*An internal HDD is required for BitTorrent downloading.
Transferring Torrent Files to HDD
For AVerLife XVision HD to download the BT file, you need to put the torrent file in
the “bittorrent” folder on the internal HDD.
Please follow the instruction below:
Step 1:
Drag and drop the .torrent file you’ve downloaded into your USB flash drive. Then
plug it into the AVerLife XVision HD.
Step 2:
Press to call up the main page and select “File Management”. Use ▲/▼
to navigate to the folder in which the .torrent files are located. Press ►to confirm
the selection.
Step 3:
Press to display the toolbar and select Copy.
Step 3:
Use ▲/▼ to navigate to the “bittorrent” folder on the internal HDD. Press ►to
confirm the selection.
Basic Operation
- Press and then select Add New to add a torrent. Press OK to confirm.
- Press and then select Pause, Start, or Delete. Press OK to confirm.
- Press the navigation keys ▲/▼ to select and to start a new
downloading task.
- Press to pause the download. Press to resume download.
*To ensure a smooth download speed, the system will keep the ongoing tasks
as many as 3 at top. Please wait until your current download is complete
before attempting another download.
* All the downloaded files will be automatically saved to the folder on Local
HDD.
- Press to display the on-screen option menu. Select among Add, Start,
Pause, or Remove. Press OK to confirm.
- Press to pause the download. Press to resume download.
- Press to return to the previous page.

the AVerLife XVision HD is properly connected to a LAN with Internet access.
Use ▲or▼to select a preferred category among Last Station, My favourites, Top
40s, Genres, About SHOUTcast. Then press OK to enter the sub-menu.

OSD Menu
Description
In the Settings submenu, you will find “TV Settings”, “Download Settings”, “Media
Share”, “Audio/Video Settings”, “Media Display Settings”, “System Settings”, and
“Network Settings”. From this menu, you can set up system environment,
multimedia, advanced functions and customize your preferences.
Use ▲or▼ to select a preferred category. Then press OK to enter the sub-menu.
TTVV SSeettttiinnggss
TV Signal Source
Select between different TV signal sources (Terrestrial TV and Cable TV), and then
press OK.
Region
Select to set the region where you are located for TV signal, and then press OK.
Channel Scan
Perform Channel Scan to search for available TV channels in your area. Press OK to
start scanning. The scanni ng proce ss will be finishe d within a few minutes. To
abort the action, select “Cancel” or press during the searching process.
Once finished, the system will return to the real-time program automatically.
Channel Edit
This function enables you to edit the TV channels. Use ▲ or ▼ to select the
channel name/sequence, and then modify it. Press OK to confirm.
Internal REC time Span
Use ▲ or ▼ to select the REC time span that you wish to set (Unlimited / 30 mins
/ 60 mins / 90 mins / 120 mins / 150 mins / 180 mins).
Recording Storage
Use ▲ or ▼ to select the storage destination that you wish to save the recordings.
Press to cancel.
Active Antenna
Use ▲ or ▼ to choose between On/Off, and OK to confirm.
*If you connect the active antenna to the RF input connector on the back of
AVerLife XVision HD, please select “On”. Never enable this function when passive
antenna is used; otherwise, the device may be damaged.
*Only active antenna with a maximum of 5V,100mA is supported.
Initial Setting Wizard
Call up the first start configuration wizard.

upload speed. Then press OK to confirm.

Media Server
Press OK to set the device as a Media Server over network. Once this function is
activated, you will be able to share the media files with other computers or device
on the same network. Select Stop and press OK if you want to disable this
function.
Network Share (Samba server)
Press OK to set the device as a Samba Server over network. Once this function is
activated, you will be able to share the media files with your network's computers.
Select Stop and press OK if you want to stop sharing.
*Please insert the HDD before using this function.
*When using Network Sharing, other functions are temporarily disabled.
