Problem description
The problem has to do with a rare failure mode in which the Part ID (and sometimes the Serial Number) in the phone’s EEPROM
are corrupted. Because of this, the phone cannot report a correct Part ID (or SN) to the PBX – which is why the switch displays a
“pgm error” when a status station is performed on the faulty phone’s extension.
Resolution
Replace the 2420 telephone. Ensure to order the following: 2420D01B-2001, Comcode 700381585.
