DYNAMIC VOCAL MICROPHONE

Dynamic Vocal
OM7
OVERVIEW:
Designed, assembled and tested by Audix in the USA, the OM7 is a dynamic vocal microphone used for professional sound companies,
front of house and mixing engineers, and high prole xed installations.
The OM7 is known for its ability to provide unprecedented gain before
feedback on concert level stages without sacricing sound quality. In
addition, the OM7 is very resistant to feedback on extremely loud stages,
In order to achieve these extraordinary performance benets, the OM7
is designed with an unconventionally low output level (8-10 dB lower
than typical dynamic microphones). This low gain stage acts as a natural “pad” at the capsule in order to maintain high delity at the source. For this reason, the OM7 is best suited for use with high quality mixing consoles with plenty of head room to compensate for the low gain.
The OM7 is characterized with a super-tight hypercardioid polar pattern which effectively isolates the vocals from the rest of the instruments on
stage. With a wide frequency range of 48 Hz - 19 kHz, the OM7 employs
a VLM™ (Very Low Mass) diaphragm for a very clean and punchy sound
with exceptional transient response.
Well balanced, comfortable to hold and durable, the OM7 is manufactured with very high standards and tight tolerances. Roadworthy
construction includes a precision die cast zinc alloy body, black e-
coat nish, laser etched model and serial number, steel mesh grill, Switchcraft® XLR connector, and heavy duty nylon clip.

ARCHITECTS AND ENGINEERS SPECIFICATIONS:
The microphone shall be of the dynamic type and the polar pattern of the microphone
shall be hypercardioid. The nominal output impedance shall be equal to 150 ohms at 1 kHz.The microphone shall have a sensitivity of 0.8 mV / Pa at 1 kHz and a sound pressure level ≥144 dB. The microphone body shall be of die cast zinc alloy and the grill cap shall be steel wire mesh. The overall dimensions shall be 23 mm in diameter at the base, 53 mm in diameter at the widest point on the grill and 176 mm in length. The microphone shall be the Audix OM7.
OPERATION:
The OM7 is a low impedance microphone and should be plugged into the “mic level”
input of your console, mixer, or recording device. Please note that your microphone does not require phantom power and will not be effected in any way by phantom power should it be running simultaneously while the microphone is in operation. Avoid plugging or unplugging the microphone from the PA system unless the channel is muted or the volume of the system turned down. Failure to do so may result in a loud “popping” noise which could seriously damage the speakers in the PA system.
USER TIPS:
The OM7 is designed with an unconventionally low output level; this means that the
gain will have to be compensated on the mixing console or mic preamp. The OM7 has
the tightest pick-up pattern of any microphone on the market in order to help eliminate
sound from other instruments on stage from “bleeding” into the microphone. For best
results, it is important to sing directly into the mic as close as possible (within 1-inch)!
When using oor monitors, position the microphone so that it is parallel to the oor. When using multiple microphones on a live performance stage, allow a distance of 2-3 feet between mics to avoid phase issues. *Further miking techniques may be found on our website at www.audixusa.com

any products.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE:
The OM7 is manufactured to exacting specs
with roadworthy construction. However, the
capsule is highly sensitive and should be
handled with care. Avoid extreme temperatures
and be sure to store your microphone in the
pouch provided when not in use. Moisture of
any kind can adversely affect the sound and
performance of your microphone.
