INTRODUCTION
Congratulations on your purchase of the AUDIOVOX PAV-8000D IN-DASH AUDIO / VIDEO SYSTEM. The PAV-8000D is designed to give you and your family many years of video entertainment in the mobile environment. Please read the directions that follow to familiarize yourself with the product and to ensure that you obtain the best results from your equipment.
WARNINGS
•:• Do not use any solvents or cleaning materials when cleaning the LCD
•:• Do not use any abrasive cleaners, they may scratch the LCD. Use only a lightly dampened lint free
cloth to wipe the screen if it is dirty.
•:• When not in use remove and store faceplate in supplied case.
•:• To reduce the risk of fire and electric shock do not expose the system to moisture.
•:• The product is a Class 1 Laser product and will emit visible or invisible hazardous laser radiation. Do
not open unit or defeat interlocks.
•:• Do not open the covers, refer servicing to qualified personnel only.
•:• Parking in direct sunlight can cause the interior temperature to rise to extreme levels, when this
happens allow the interior temperature to cool down before operating the system.
•:• The PAV-8000D System is designed to be installed in the vehicles with a Negative (-)12V Ground
Battery System
•:• If the power supply to the system is interrupted/disconnected, the user programmed preset memory
settings will be lost and the system will return to the factory default settings.
•:• Do not put anything other than discs into the disc slot.
•:• When leaving the car, be sure to eject the disc and store in its case.

1. SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS
The PAV-8000D system has 5 channel low level outputs that consists of Two (2) Front & Two (2) Rear Surround Speakers, One (1) Center Speaker and One (1) Subwoofer. The PAV-8000D system is capable of creating a perfect 5.1 Channel DOLBY Surround Sound effect. NOTE: An optional Power Amplifier (not supplied) is required to obtain the full-range of the 5.1 Channel capabilities.

To replace the battery in the Remote Control, perform the following procedure
1. Place the Remote Control face down on a flat surface. Hold the Remote Control in place using one hand and with the other hand insert a fingernail into the grove of the spring catch (A in Step 1), insert thumbnail into the groove Battery Holder (B in Step 1) and slide out. (see Step #1, Figure 3.)
2. Install one “CR2025” Lithium Battery into the holder. (see Step #2, see Figure 3.)
3. Slide the Battery Holder back into the remote control until it clicks in place (see Step #3, Figure 3.)
NOTE: The Remote Control is shipped without the battery installed. Before attempting to operate the system using the Remote Control, you must install the battery as described in the procedure above.

5. BASIC OPERATION
5.1. Powering System On
Press the Power ON/OFF( ) button 7 to turn the PAV-8000D System Power ON. Press and hold the ( )
button for 2 Sec. to turn the system Power OFF
NOTE: This button 7 is also used to MUTE the audio sound.
5.2. Mute Control
When the unit is on, momentarily press the Mute Button ( ) button 7? to mute the sound; Press it again, the unit will exit the MUTE mode.

5.3. Mode Switch
Press the ( MODE) button bq to switch between the different modes if a CD or DVD is loaded. If a CD Changer
(CDC) is used with the system, the MODE button will also be used to switch to CDC mode.

5.5. Displaying and Setting Time
To display the current Time on the LCD Screen, Press the [DISP] button 3, when the unit’s in “standby” state, indicated time on LCD will be current time. NOTE: in “standby” state, current time is automatically indicated on LCD; in other modes, press this key to display the time.

5.5.1 Set Time
To set HOURS and MINUTES and to switch between them Press and Hold the [DISP] button 3 for 2 Seconds
to enter the Time Set Mode. Once in this mode, press the switch to toggle between Hour and Minute settings .
Press the [??|] button 4? to increase time. Press the [| |? ? ] 5 button to decrease time.
5.5.2 System Setup
To enter the System Setup Mode, Press and Hold the [DISP] button for 2 Seconds. Press the [??|] ?and the [ |?? ] ?buttons select setup item, use [DISP] button to toggle between values and enter.

5.6.1 Bass and Treble Control
Once either Bass or Treble is selected, rotate the (SEL/LOC) knob 6 to Increase (Right) or Decrease (left) the Bass/Treble.

5.6.2 Balance and Fader Control
Press the (SEL/LOC) button 6? to select Left & Right Balance mode. Once in the Balance mode, rotate the
(SEL/LOC) knob 6? to balance between the Left and Right speakers. Press the (SEL/LOC) button 6 again to select the fader mode . Once in the Fader mode, rotate the (SEL/LOC) button 6? to balance between the
Front and Rear speakers
5.6.3 Sound Effect Control
Press the (SEL/LOC) button 6? to select the SOUND Effect. Once in SOUND Effect mode, rotate the
(SEL/LOC) knob 6? to switch between the different sound effects as shown is the following sequence:

5.6.4 Loudness Control
Press the (SEL/LOC) b utton 6? to select Loud then rotate the knob to switch the Loudness control ON and OFF.

When a Band is selected, Press the [??|] Forward directional
or the [|??] Backward directional button

5? to enter the Station Auto -Search mode in the direction desired . To stop searching during the Auto-Search
function, press either the [??|] Forward directional 4 or the [|??] Backward directional button 5 again
and the current frequency (station) will be displayed.

released the system will stop searching and exi t Manual Search Mode after 5 seconds.
5.7.4 Preset Stations
Press the (1/DISC-)-8, (2/DISC+) -9, (3/P.MODE)-bl, (4/2-6CH)-bm, (5/RPT)-bn & (6/STOP)-bo button(s) to
switch between preset stations.

5.7.5 Storing Preset Stations
When a desired station is reached, Press and hold one of the Numbered preset buttons for 2 Seconds to store
the desired station into memory.
[(1/DISC-)-8, (2/DISC+) -9, (3/P.MODE)-bl, (4/2-6CH)-bm, (5/RPT)-bn & (6/STOP)-bo] (see Figure 16
above).
5.7.6 Scan Preset Stations
Press the [AS/PS ENTER] button bu? to scan the preset sta tions in current band for 5secs at a time. To stop
scanning Press bu again.

Press and Hold the [SEL/LOC] button 6 for 2 sec onds to enter Local mode; Press and Hold the [SEL/LOC]

5.8. DVD Player Operation
Before DVD operation, make sure a monitor has been prop erly connected to the video output of the unit.
Audio output mode depends on the type of DVD played. Discs have different output modes depending on the
manufacturer, read the instructions supplied with the disc you want to play before operation.

5.8.2. Disc loading in
Before inserting disc, make sure that there is not a disc in the unit. A Disc Icon will be displayed on the LCD
screen when a disc is loaded into the unit. When a disc is inserted, the unit will automatically close the front
panel.

5.8.3. Disc Eject
Press the [ ] button 1 to lower the front panel. If a disc is in the unit, the disc will be ejected.

Ejecting the disc when in DVD and CD mode will cause the unit to automatically return to tuning mode. Once a disc is inserted, It is normal for the playback of the d isc to take a few moments before starting while it is loading.
5.8.4. Closing the Front Panel
When the front panel is lowered , press [ ] button 1 to close front panel. If the button is not pressed for 20
seconds the front panel will close automatically.

5.8.5. 2.1 Channel — 5.1 Channel Switch
To switch from the full 6 channel mode to down-mix mode, press the [4/2-6CH] button for 2 seconds down-mix will be displayed on the LCD. To switch back to full 6 channel mode press the [4/2-6CH] button again for 2 seconds and “FULL 6CH” will be displayed on the LCD.
NOTE: Full 6 channel o peration requires an optional 6 channel amplifier.

5.8.10. Random/Scan Playback
Press the [3/P.MODE] button
RANDOM playback mode: Press the [3/P.MODE] button bl once to enter RANDOM which will
randomly play the tracks of the disc.
SCAN mode: Press the [3/P.MODE] button bl twice to enter SCAN mode, which will begin to scan
each of the tracks on the disc for 10 seconds at a time. When a desired track is reached press the button once more to continue playback of that track and end the scan function.

Press the “GOTO” button on the Remote Control to select a specific chapter (see Figure 2). Press the “GOTO” button again to select a specific time which will be displayed on the Screen then use the number buttons to enter chapter number or time data.

If a disc in playback mode contains subtitle language options . Press the “SUB-TITLE” button on the R emote Control to choose from the disc-supported languages. If the disc only supports one subtitle, the function will not work. Once the language option in chosen, the language description will disappear within 5 seconds.
5.8.12.1 Selecting Audio Language
When a disc is in playback mode press the “AUDIO” button on the R emote Control to choose from the disc-supported languages. Once the language option in chosen, the language description will disappear within 5 seconds.
NOTE: Some discs only allow control of subtitle and language options through the DVD Root Menu
5.8.13. Selecting Camera Angle
If the DVD to be veiwed supports multi -angle playback, press the “ANGLE” button on the R emote Control to playback images in different camera angles. If the DVD does not support multi-angle playback, this function will not work. Once the angle option in chosen, the angle description will disappear within 5 seconds.

Momentarily press the [MUTE] button volume control to cancel the mute function.

5.9.2. Setup TV Display
Select “GENERAL“ setup and then press “ENTER“. Highlight “TV DISPLAY” and press left to enter the TV Display settings, which contains options that can be chosen and/or configured. To choose from the listed options, press the [p] or [q] direction buttons to highlight a selected option, then press “ENTER" to confirm.

5.9.3. Setting the Menu Language
Following the above -mentioned operation, press the “OSD LANG” to select menu language (this system includes English and Chinese), then press “ENTER“ to confirm.

5.9.4. Selecting the Audio Language
Discs can support different audio languages. You can select the audio language by entering the “AUDIO ” setting on the “PREFERENCE PAGE” on the Main Menu. Pressing the stop button 2X during the normal playback of a disc will allow access to the “PREFERENCE PAGE”. During playback of a disc, press the “AUDIO ” button on the Remote Control to choose from the available audio languages.

5.9.5. Selecting a Subtitle Language
Setting the subtitle language is done through “SUBTITLE” on the “PREFERENCE PAGE” if the chosen disc supports this operation. During playback, press the “SUBTITLE” to choose from the subtitle languages listed, press the [p ] or [q ] direction buttons to highlight a selected subtitle language, then press “ENTER" to confirm.

5.9.6. Selecting a TV Type
Setting the Video system type is done through “TV TYPE” on the “PREFERENCE PAGE”. There are 3 options in “TV TYPE” (MULTI, NTSC and PAL). Select the Video system type according to the actual TV in use and then press the “ENTER” button to confirm. The setting will be changed after exiting the setting mode.

5.9.7. Setting the PARENTAL Preference
Setting the Parental Preference is done through “PARENTAL” on the “PREFERENCE PAGE”. Select the parental level you desire using UP/DOWN for discs with lock-out function or multiple rating levels. It is listed from the lowest level (1 Child) to the highest level (8 Adult). Press ‘ENTER’ to enter the Password Verify Page.

5.9.8. Setting the Password
Setting the Password is done through “PASSWORD” on the “PREFERENCE PAGE”. Press “ENTER” to enter the Password Change Page. Input the Old Password or the Default Password, the New Password, and the Confirmed New Password. Press “ENTER” to confirm the change. NOTE: The Factory Default Password is:

5.10. Audio CD / MP3 and CD Changer (CDC) Operation
The PAV-8000D is compatible with AUDIOVOX SP-11CD and SP-6CD CD Changers.
MP3 Operation
MP3 discs usually contain a mix of files with multiple sub-directories of MP3 files. When a MP3 disc is inserted, the PAV-8000D will automatically search all directories that contain MP3 files and use the format of TRACK to mark them. All directories that contain MP3 files will be displayed as TRACKS in the order/level that they are structured on the CD. Each TRACK will use one or more pages (screens) to display the names of the MP3 files contained in that TRACK. Up to 8 MP3 files can be displayed on one page, additional MP3 files within the same TRACK will be displayed on the following page(s). Only the first 8 letters of TRACK/MP3 title will be displayed.
5.10.1.Switching Mode s
Press the “MODE” bq button to switch between available mode s (mode switching sequence:
RADIOàDVD àCDCàRADIO). If there is no disc inside the PAV-800D the “DVD” mode is bypassed. The same is true if there is no CDC connected to PAV-8000D system the “CDC” mode is bypassed.

5.10.4.Random / Scan
Press the [3/P.MODE] button
RANDOM playback mode: Press the [3/P.MODE] button
the tracks on the disc in random order. CDC only: While in “RANDOM” mode, If the button is pressed a second time the system will begin to playback the tracks from all loaded discs randomly.
SCAN mode: While in normal playback mode, press the [3/P.MODE] button bl twice to enter “SCAN”
mode, which will begin to scan each of the tracks on the disc for 10 seconds at a time. CDC only: While in “SCAN” mode, If the button is pressed a second time the system will begin to scan all tracks from all loaded discs for 10 seconds at a time. When a desired Disc/Track is reached press the button once more to continue playback that track and end the scan function.

5.10.5.Repeat Play
Press the [5/REPT] button bq to repeat the playback of the current track of the disc in play. If the button is
pressed a second time, the system will repeat playback of the disc. Press the button a third time to cancel the repeat playback function.

6. INSTALLING THE PAV-8000D SYSTEM
Before installing the PAV-8000D verify that the Radio antenna and speakers are operational and are perform ing well. Disconnect power supply cable from the connecting terminal of the vehicles Battery.
CAUTION: When disconnecting the Battery Negative ( -) Connecting Terminal, vehicles equipped with cruise equipment or a satellite navigator will lose all preset memory.
6.1. Front Panel Installation
6.1.1. Cautions During Installation
If possible, have qualified personnel install the PAV-8000D system. The PAV-8000D system is intended for installation in vehicles with DC 12V Negative Ground battery systems. Make all electrical/electronic connect ions as directed in this manual. Incorrect conne ction may damage the equipment and will void the warranty. Carefully read the Instruction Manual and Installation Specification before installation.

1. Install the Mounting Bracket (1) by inserting the Bracket into dashboard and bend the mounting tabs outwards with a screwdriver so that the bracket is tight.

2. Install the PAV-8000D unit a. Check that all connections are correct. b. Install the mounting bolt (5). c. Insert main connector (6) into the rear of the unit. d. Insert the PAV-8000D unit into mounting Bracket (1) and gently push it in until it locks in -place (a
“click” sound will be heard).
e. Use the following recommended method to anchor the rear of the PAV-8000D unit.
1. Fasten one end of the Rear support Strap (3) to the rear of the PAV-8000D unit.
2. Fasten the other end of the Rear support Strap (3) to the firewall or other sturdy non-moving metal parts of the vehicle .
6.3.2 Electric Connections
l Power supply for the unit is DC 12V negative (-) ground. l Connect the unit according to the following wiring diagram to avoid damage. l Do not insert in power supply connector before finishing connections. l Do insulate any exposed cables.
