1 ON-OFF POWER BUTTON
VOLUME LEVEL MEMORY
Press this button momentarily to turn the unit on or off. The unit will also turn on automatically when a compact disc is inserted if the ignition switch is "on".
This button is also used to set the memory for the volume level which will be recalled when the unit is turned on. To set the volume memory, turn the unit on and adjust the volume using the Volume Control2to the level which you wish to be recalled when the unit is turned on. Then, press the On-Off button and hold it for approximately 2 seconds. The unit will turn off and the selected volume level is now set in the memory. If the unit is turned off with the volume higher than the memory setting, the unit will return to the memory setting when turned back on. If, however, the unit is turned off with the volume lower than the

memory setting, the unit will return to the lower setting when turned back on.

VOLUME LEVEL CONTROL
To increase the volume level, press the + side of the button. The volume will increase and the level will be shown on the display panel from a minimum of 0 to a maximum of 80. To increase the volume quickly, keep the button pressed. To decrease the volume level, press the – side of the button. Keep the button pressed to decrease the volume quickly. The display will automatically return to the normal indication 5 seconds after the last volume adjustment or when another function is activated. These buttons are also used in conjunction with the Select button3to adjust the bass, treble, balance, and fader levels as described in4,5,6and7.

SELECT BUTTON (SEL) DISPLAY CALL DISPLAY PRIORITY SELECTOR IGNITION-OFF CLOCK CALL
SELECT FUNCTION: This button is used to select the audio
function (volume, bass, treble, balance, or fade) to be adjusted using the Level Control2, as well as the indication (time, frequency, or CD) shown on the display panel.
DISPLAY CALL: During radio operation, a momentary press of the button will change the display from frequency to clock time. After 5 seconds, the display will automatically return to frequency if set to frequency/CD display priority. If the unit has been set to time display priority, a momentary press of the button will change the display from time to frequency/CD. After 5 seconds, it will change back to time display.
During CD operation, a momentary press of the button will change the display from track number to track elapsed time. Another press of the button will change to clock time. After 5 seconds, the display will automatically return to track number if set to frequency/CD display priority. If the unit has been set to time display priority, momentary presses of the button will change the display to track number and then elapsed time. After 5 seconds, it will change back to time display.
Additional momentary presses of the button will set the unit for bass adjustment (level number above BAS will flash on display panel), treble (level number above TRE will flash), balance (BAL on display), fader (FAD) or volume (level number). The display will automatically return to the normal indication 5 seconds after the last adjustment is made or when another function is activated.
DISPLAY PRIORITY: This unit can be set so that either the clock
time or radio frequency/CD track will normally appear on the display panel. Use the following procedure to set the display priority:
Clock Time Priority: With radio frequency on the display panel, press and hold the Select button for approximately 2 seconds until clock time is shown. The display will now automatically return to time display 5 seconds after any other radio, CD or audio function display.
NOTE:Release the button as soon as the display changes from
frequency to time (approximately 2 seconds). Holding the button in for too long will put the unit into time setting mode (flashing time display). See section on "Setting the Clock".
Frequency/CD Track Priority: With clock time showing on the display panel, press and hold the Select button for approximately 2 seconds until the frequency display is shown. The display will now automatically return to radio frequency or CD track 5 seconds after any other function is activated.
IGNITION-OFF CLOCK CALL: T o check the time with the vehicle ignition switch in the "off" position, momentarily press the Select button. The display will illuminate and show the time and then automatically shut off after 5 seconds.

BASS CONTROL
To adjust the bass level, first select the Bass mode by pressing the Select button3so that the level number above the BAS indication is flashing. Within 5 seconds of choosing the Bass mode, press the + or – side of the button of the Level control to adjust the bass response as desired. The bass level will be shown on the display panel from a minimum of –7 to a maximum of 7 (0 is flat response). The display will automatically return to the normal indication 5 seconds after the last adjustment or when another function is activated.

TREBLE CONTROL
To adjust the treble level, first select the Treble mode by pressing the Select button3so that the level number above the TRE indication is flashing. Within 5 seconds of choosing the Treble mode, press the + or – side of the button of the Level control to adjust the treble response as desired. The treble level will be shown on the display panel from a minimum of –7 to a maximum of 7 (0 is flat response). The display will automatically return to the normal indication 5 seconds after the last adjustment or when another function is activated.

LEFT/RIGHT BALANCE CONTROL
To adjust the left-right speaker balance, first select the Balance mode by pressing the Select button3so that the BAL indication appears on the display panel. Within 5 seconds of choosing the Balance mode, press the + side of the Level Control2to adjust the stereo balance to the left channel speakers or the – side to adjust it to the right channel speakers. When the volume level between the right and left channels is equal, 0LR0will be shown on the display panel. Adjusting the balance toward the right will increase the number on the right side of the display to a maximum of 0LR9(full right). Adjusting the balance toward the left will increase the number on the left side of the display to a maximum of 9LR0(full left). The display will automatically return to the normal indication 5 seconds after the last balance adjustment or when another function is activated.

FRONT/REAR FADER CONTROL
To adjust the front-rear speaker balance, first select the Fader mode by pressing the Select button3so that the FAD indication appears on the display panel. Within 5 seconds of choosing the Fader mode, press the + or the – side of the Level Control2to adjust the front-rear speaker levels as desired. When the level

of the front and rear speakers is equal, 0FR0will be shown on the display panel. Adjusting the fader toward the front speakers will increase the number on the left side of the display to a maximum of 9FR0(full front). Adjusting the fader toward the rear speakers will increase the number on the right side of the display to a maximum of 0FR9(full rear). The display will automatically return to the normal indication 5 seconds after the last fader adjustment or when another function is activated.

LOUDNESS CONTOUR (LD)
Pressing this button for longer than 2 seconds will activate the Loudness Contour as indicated by LOUD on the display panel. When listening to music at low volume levels, this feature will boost the bass and treble ranges to compensate for the characteristics of human hearing. Pressing the button again for longer than 2 seconds will deactivate the feature and LOUD will disappear from the display panel.
NOTE:Momentary presses of the button will change the radio
sensitivity in Seek and Scan Tuning modes from local to distance and back again as described in section

AM/FM BAND SELECTOR (BND) AUTO-STORE TUNING (AS)
During radio operation, each momentary press of this button will change the radio band. The indication AM, FMI,orFMII will appear on the display panel according to your selection.
Pressing and holding the button for longer than 4 seconds will activate the Auto-Store Tuning function which will automatically scan the AM or FMII bands and enter strong stations into the pre-set memory positions for that band. If you have already set the pre-set memories on the AM or FMII bands to your favorite stations, activating the Auto-Store feature will erase those stations
