OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1 ON-OFF POWER BUTTON (PWR)
VOLUME LEVEL MEMORY
Press this button momentarily to turn the unit on or off. The unit will also turn on automatically when a cassette is inserted if the ignition switch is “on”.
This button is also used to set the memory for the volume level which will be recalled when the unit is turned on. To set the volume memory, turn the unit on and adjust the volume using the
Volume Control 2 to the level which you wish to be recalled when
the unit is turned on. Then, press the On-Off button and hold it for approximately 2 seconds. The unit will turn off and the selected
volume level is now set in the memory. If the unit is turned off with the volume higher than the memory setting, the unit will return to the memory setting when turned back on. If, however, the unit is turned off with the volume lower than the memory setting, the unit will return to the lower setting when turned back on.
2 VOLUME LEVEL CONTROL
To increase the volume level, press the + side of the button. The volume will increase and the level will be shown on the display panel from a minimum of 0 to a maximum of 80. To increase the volume quickly, keep the button pressed. To decrease the volume level, press the – side of the button. Keep the button

pressed to decrease the volume quickly. The display will automatically return to the priority indication 5 seconds after the last volume adjustment or when another function is activated.
This button is also used in conjunction with the Select button 3
to adjust the bass, treble, balance, and fader levels as described
in 4, 5, 6 and 7.
3 SELECT BUTTON (SEL)
DISPLAY CALL DISPLAY PRIORITY SELECTOR IGNITION-OFF CLOCK CALL (CLK)
This button is used to select the audio function (volume, bass,
treble, balance, or fade) to be adjusted using the Level Control 2,
as well as the indication (time or frequency/cassette/disc) shown on the display panel. Momentary presses of the button will change the display from radio frequency/cassette/disc indication to clock time. After 5 seconds, the display will automatically return to the priority setting.
During CD changer operation, a momentary press of the button will change the display from disc/track number to CD track elapsed time. Another press of the button will change to clock time. After 5 seconds, the display will automatically return to disc/track number if set to CD track display priority. If the unit has been set to clock time display priority, momentary presses of the button will change the display to CD disc/track number and then CD elapsed time. After 5 seconds, it will change back to clock time display. If the unit has been set to elapsed time priority, momentary
presses of the button will change the display to clock time and then CD disc/track number.
Additional momentary presses of the button will set the unit for bass adjustment (level number above “BAS” will flash on display panel), treble (level number above “TRE” will flash), balance (“BAL” on display), fader (“FAD”) or volume (level number). The display will automatically return to the normal indication 5 seconds after the last adjustment is made or when another function is activated.
This unit can be set so that the radio frequency/cassette/disc indication (factory setting) or clock time will appear on the display panel as the priority setting. To change the priority setting, press and hold the Select button for 2 seconds until the display changes to the next indication. That indication will now be the priority setting and the display will automatically return to that indication after any radio, cassette, disc or audio function is displayed.
NOTE: When changing the display priority setting, release the
button as soon as the display changes (approximately 2 seconds). Holding the button in for too long will put the unit into time setting mode (flashing time display). See section on “Setting the Clock”.
To check the time with the vehicle ignition switch in the “off” position, momentarily press the Select button. The display will illuminate and show the time and then automatically shut off after 5 seconds.
4 BASS CONTROL
To adjust the bass level, first select the Bass mode by pressing
the Select button 3 so that the level number above the “BAS”

indication is flashing. Within 5 seconds of choosing the Bass
mode, press the + or – side of the button of the Level control 2to
adjust the bass response as desired. The bass level will be shown on the display panel from a minimum of –7 to a maximum of 7 (0 is flat response). The display will automatically return to the normal indication 5 seconds after the last adjustment or when another function is activated.
5 TREBLE CONTROL
To adjust the treble level, first select the Treble mode by pressing
the Select button 3 so that the level number above the “TRE”
indication is flashing. Within 5 seconds of choosing the Treble
mode, press the + or – side of the button of the Level control 2to
adjust the treble response as desired. The treble level will be shown on the display panel from a minimum of –7 to a maximum of 7 (0 is flat response). The display will automatically return to the normal indication 5 seconds after the last adjustment or when another function is activated.
6 LEFT/RIGHT BALANCE CONTROL
To adjust the left-right speaker balance, first select the Balance
mode by pressing the Select button 3 so that the “BAL” indication
appears on the display panel. Within 5 seconds of choosing the
Balance mode, press the + side of the button of the Level Control 2
to adjust the stereo balance to the left channel speakers or the – side of the button to adjust it to the right channel speakers. When the volume level between the right and left channels is equal, “0LR0” will be shown on the display panel. Adjusting the balance toward the right will increase the number on the right side of the
display to a maximum of “0 balance toward the left will increase the number on the left side of the display to a maximum of “9LR0” (full left). The display will automatically return to the priority indication 5 seconds after the last adjustment or when another function is activated.

7 FRONT/REAR FADER CONTROL
To adjust the front-rear speaker balance, first select the Fader
mode by pressing the Select button 3 so that the “F AD” indication
appears on the display panel. Within 5 seconds of choosing the Fader mode, press the + or the – side of the button of the Level
Control 2to adjust the front-rear speaker levels as desired. When
the level of the front and rear speakers is equal, “0FR0” will be shown on the display panel. Adjusting the fader toward the front speakers will increase the number on the left side of the display to a maximum of “9FR0” (full front). Adjusting the fader toward the rear speakers will increase the number on the right side of the display to a maximum of “0FR9” (full rear). The display will auto­matically return to the priority indication 5 seconds after the last adjustment or when another function is activated.
8 LOUDNESS CONTOUR (LD)
Pressing this button for longer than 2 seconds will activate the Loudness Contour as indicated by “LOUD” on the display panel. When listening to music at low volume levels, this feature will boost the bass and treble ranges to compensate for the characteristics of human hearing. Pressing the button again for longer than 2 seconds will deactivate the feature and “LOUD” will disappear from the display panel.
