POWER SOURCES

This unit can operate on an AC adapter (included), car cigarette lighter adapter (optional) and rechargeable battery (included). ®§Make sure that the input voltage to the AC adapter is 100~120VAC;
otherwise, the AC adapter and unit may be damaged.
®§Do not touch the AC adapter with wet hands so as to avoid electric
shocks.
®§When connecting with car power (cigaratte lighter) adapter, be
sure the DC input voltage to the adapter is identical with car voltage (+12VDC).
®§Unplug the AC adapter from the outlet or remove the rechargeable
batteries when the unit is not used for a long time.
®§Hold the plug to disconnect the AC adapter. Do not pull the
power cord.

ON PLACEMENT

Avoid placing the unit in the following places: ®§Under direct sunlight or near a source of heat such as a heater.
Never leave the unit in a closed automobile, on a dashboard or a parcel shelf. Excess heat may deform the unit enclosure or cause
a malfunction. ®§Where it is very dusty or sandy. ®§Wet or humid places, such as bathroom. ®§Near sources of strong magnetism, such as television, speaker,
or magnet. ^SWhere there is a lot of movement or vibration, such as on a car
dashboard or an unstable shelf. ®§Where it is extremely hot or cold.
^§Where the unit Is exposed to rain or water.

^§Unplug the AC adapter to cut the power if liquid or objects get
inside the unit. ^STake care not to drop the unit or subject It to strong shocks, which
may cause malfunction. Note: When unit is in use for a long period of time, the surface of the
unit will be heated. This should not affect playback ability.
MAINTENANCE FOR PICKUP ®§lf the unit is suddenly moved from a cold place to a warm one to
experience a rapid temperature change, or the unit is put in a
humid place, moisture will condense on the pickup lens and result
in malfunction or playback difficulties. In this case, unload the disc
and leave the unit on for about one hour to evaporate the
moisture. ®§Keep dust from the pickup lens. Keep the disc tray closed after
use. If there is dust on the pickup lens, use a cleaning disc to
clean them. Please refer to the operation instructions of the
cleaning disc you bought. WHEN USING HEADPHONES ®§To avoid hearing damage caused by a sudden volume increase,
keep the volume at the lowest level before play back. Then adjust
it to needed level. ®§Keep the volume lower to protect your ears. ®§Never wear headphones when driving or riding bicycle so as to
avoid traffic accidents.

followed.
(5) Cleaning - Unplug this product from the wall outlet before
cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for cleaning.
<6) Attachments - Do not use attachments not recommended by the
product manufacturer as they may cause unwanted hazards.
(7) Water and moisture - Do not use this product near water • for
example, near a bath tub, wash bowl, kitchen sink, or laundry tub: in a wet basement; or near a swimming pool; and the like.
t8) Accessories - Do not place this product on an unstable cart,
stand, tripod, bracket, or table. The product may fall, causing serious injury to a child or adult, and serious damage to the product. Use only with a cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table recommended by the manufacturer, or sold with the product. Any mounting of the product should follow the manufacturer's
instructions; use a mounting accessory recommended by the manufacturer.

(9) A product and cart combination should be moved with care.
Quick stops, excessive force and uneven surfaces may cause the product and carl combination to overturn.
(10) Power Sources • This product should be operated only from the
type of power source indicated.on the rear panel. If you are not sure of the type of power supply to your home, consult your product dealer or local power company. For products Intended to operate from battery power, or other sources, refer to the operating instructions.
(11) Grounding or Polarization - This product may be equipped with
a polarized alternating • current line plug (a plug having one blade wider than the other). This plug will fit into the power outlet only one way. This is a safety feature. If you are unable to insert the plug fully into the outlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug should still fail to fit, contact your electrician to replace your obsolete outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug.
(12) Power Cord Protection - Power supply cords should be routed
so that they are not likely to be walked on or pinched by items placed upon or against them, paying particular attention to cords at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the product.

lightning storm, or when it is left unattended and unused for

long periods of time, unplug it from the wall outlet and disconnect the antenna or cable system. This will prevent damage to the product due to lightning and power line surges.
(14) Power Lines • An outside antenna system should not be
located in the vicinity of overhead power lines or other electric light or power circuits, or where it can fall into such power lines or circuils. When installing an outside antenna system, extreme care should be taken to keep from touching such power lines or circuits as contact with them might be fatal.
(15) Overloading - Do not overload wall outlets, extension cords, or
integral convenience receptacles as this can result in a risk of fire or electric shock.
(16) Object and Liquid Entry - Never push objects of any kind into
this product; fire or electric shock could result. Never spill liquid of any kind on the product.
(17) Servicing - Do not attempt to service this product yourself as
opening or removing should be accomplished by qualified service personnel.
(18) Damages Requiring Service • Unplug this product from the wall
outlet and refer servicing to qualified sen/ice personnel under the following conditions: a) When the power supply cord or plug is damaged.
b) If liquid has been spilled, or objects have fallen into the
product. c) If the product has been exposed to rain or water. d) If the product does not operate normally by

(21) Heat - The product should be situated away from heat sources
such as radiators, heat registers, stoves or other products (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
(22) During playback, few bright or dark flecks may appear on the
TFT LCD, which is a normal phenomenon in active matrix display technology, but not a malfunction.

DEFINITION OF TERMS

^ST\TLE
The images or music of a DVD are divided into a number of units, among which title is the biggest one. To an image in video
software, title is movie, to a piece of music in audio software, it is music.

°§CHAPTER

It Is smaller than title among the units of a DVD. A title is made up
of several chapters, and each chapter has a number for search. But some discs may not have numbered chapters.

®§TRACK

The music in a CD. Each track has a number for search.

CONNECT TO POWER-^ (A)

Please make sure that the applied AC adaptor is within the range

(100-120VAC) of the local voltage. Connect the applied AC adapter to:
1. DC IN on the left side.
2. The AC power outlet.

USE HEADPHONES-►

®§lnsert headphones into the phones jack of the unit. ®STum off the power when inserting or pulling headphones.

CONNECT TO EXTERNAL EQUIPMENTS

You can connect the unit to a TV or an amplifier to enjoy action VCDs or karaoke.

CONNECT TO TV

The AV cords are connected according to diagram
1 .Mini - plug: connect to the VIDEO OUT jack of the unit.
2. Yellow plug: connect to the VIDEO IN jack of the TV.
3. Mini - plug: connect to the AUDIO OUT jack of the unit.
4. Red - plug: connect to the AUDIO IN R jack of the TV.
5. White - plug: connect to the AUDIO IN L jack of the TV.

CONNECT TO TV AND AMPLIFIER ®

The AV cords are connected according to diagram (D) :
1 .Mini - plug: connect to the VIDEO OUT jack of the unit.
2.Yellow plug: connect to the VIDEO IN jack of the TV. S.Mini • plug: connect to the AUDIO OUT jack of the unit.
4. Red - plug: connect to the LINE IN R jack of the amplifier.
5. White - plug: connect to the LINE IN L jack of the amplifier.

PREPARATIONS BEFORE OPERATION
USE REMOTE CONTROL
1 .Refer to the diagram, open the battery compartment of the remote
control, insert battery, then close the compartment.
NOTE: Remove plastic insulator from battery compartment to permit
remote operation, when remote control is shipped with battery already installed.
2.T0 use the remote control, point it at the remote sensor (IR) of the
unit; operate within a distance of 5 meters and 60*.
S.Generally, a battery will last for about one year; replace the battery
if the remote control does not work. Observe proper polarity.
4.Remove the battery if remote control is not used for a long time.

PREPARATIONS BEFORE OPERATION
USING THE AC ADAPTER -► (a)
The unit can use the special AC adapter supplied.
1 .Insert the AC adapter into DC IN jack of the unit.
2.lnserl one end of the power supply cord into the input jack of the adapter and the other end into the household mains socket (100~120VAC). At this time, the unit can work normally.
Note: Turn off the unit before unplugging the AC adapter from the
unit to avoid damaging the unit.

BEFORE OPERATION -► (A)

1 .Apply power to the unit (POWER ON LED lights red).

2.Press the lock switch to open the cabinet cover.
3.Set POWER ON/OFF switch to ON (POWER ON LED lights green).
4. Tum VOLUME to adjust volume, (including when using headphones).
5. When the unit is connected to a TV or an amplifier, adjust the volume according to owner's manual and set TV to AV mode.

LOAD DISC -►

1 .Press PUSH OPEN to open the disc tray.
2.Hold the edge of the disc to put it in the center with the label side up.

1. If display brightness is unsuitable during playback,press the DISPLAY MODE button to select bright adjustment
and press ►Hor buttons until desired brightness is achieved.
2. If display (picture) color Is unsuitable during playback,press the DISPLAY MODE button to select color adjustment
and press ►►jorH-^ buttons until desired color is achieved.
3. Press the DISPLAY MODE button to select display
mode selection and press ►Horh<-< buttons to
select: Full mode,Normal mode, Zoom mode.

SYSTEM SETTING

The unit can recognize the color system of the disc automatically and transmit the corresponding signal.
®§lf your TV can only receive PAL system, select the standard of the
unit PAL. The unit will keep PAL output in spite of which signal format is used by the disc being played.
®Slf your TV can only receive NTSC system, select the standard of
the unit NTSC.
®Slf your TV Is multi - system, we advise you to select MULTI to get
clearer images.

The invalid symbol "Q" appears on the screen when you press a button that doesn't have any function. If one of the icons is "grayed out ".that Display feature isn’t available for the disc you're playing. To make the Display disappear from the screen, press OSD on the remote. Select a Title
Some discs contain more than one title. For example, there might be four movies on one
OSD (REMOTE CONTROL UNIT)

The On-Screen-Display (OSD) contains many playback features.To see the Display, press the jOSP] button on the remote while a disc is playing. The Display appears across the top of the screen.Each feature is illustrated with an icon. Use the -^or ► buttons on the remote to move through the different icons in the Display.
When an icon is highlighted, use the t or a
butons on the remote to scroll through the choices displayed in the text box under the icons.
Remember, you can only access the Display
when you're playing a disc. Also, the Display
features are only available if the disc was created with that particular feature (i.e., if
you select the Subtitle icon, you won't be
disc (each movie might be considered a title). Each title is divided into chapters. To select a title:
1. While the disc is playing, press |OSD| on
the remote to bring up the Display.
2. If the Title icon on the Display isn’t highlighted, use the ^ or ► buttons to highlight it.
3. Press the a or t buttons to go to the next or previous title.
Note: Some discs only have one title.
Select a Chapter
Because DVD discs use digital technology, a title can be divided into individual chapters (similar to tracks on a CD). You can skip to a specific chapter by using the Chapter feature in the Display.

Notes: The chapter feature won't work if the disc isn't formatted with separate chapters. You can also advance to the next chapter by pressing on the remote and go to the
preceding chapter by pressing on the remote.
Changing the Audio Language
If the disc was created with different language tracks (recorded in different languages), you can use the Display to temporarily change the DVD player's Audio Language setting.
1. While the disc is playing, press |OSD| on the remote to bring up the Display.
2. Press the or ► buttons to highlight the

the subtitle languages that are available on the disc until the subtitle language you want to use appears in the text box. The subtitles will be shown in that language.

Notes:Changing the subtitle language with the Display will only affect the disc currently being played. When the disc is removed or the player is turned off. the subtitle language will revert to the language setting specified through the DVD player main menu. The subtitle language can also be changed through the DVD player menu.

3. Press the A or? buttons to scroll through
the audio languages that are available on the disc until the audio language you want to use appears in the text box. Audio will be played in that language.
4. To make the Display disappear, press the OSD button on the remete.
Note: The language feature only works if the disc was created with multiple audio tracks. When you choose an audio language from the Display, you only override the audio language setting in the DVD player's main menu temporarily. The audio language can also the changed through the DVD player menu.
Changing the Camera Angle Some discs contain multiple angles of a particular scene or sequence. If the disc only has one angle, this feature won't work. When multiple angles are available, to change the camera angle:
1. When a disc is playing, press |OSD|on the
remote to bring up the Display.
2. The Angle icon will display the number of
angles available. For example, if there are 3 different angles, the icon will read 1 of 3, This means angle 1 is currently being
played.
3. Press the a or t buttons to scroll through
the angle choices. The angle number displayed in the text window is automatically shown.
4. To make the Display disappear, press the

Using the Repeat Feature
The default mode for the Repeat feature is off. There are three Repeat options:

repeatedly until you turn Repeat off. How to Cancel Repeat: There are three ways to cancel Repeat: ®S Press STOP twice. ®§ Go to Repeat icon in the Display and

Changing the Audio Channel Output
If you are playing a Stereo CD. you can
change the channel output from the player.
1. Press |OSD| on the remote to bring up
the Display.
2. Highlight the UR icon on the Display.
3. The audio channel choices appear in the
text box. Press the A or T buttons to
scroll through the choices: LEFT MONO. RIGHT MONO , MIXED MONO or STEREO.
Whater choice is displayed becomes the
active choice.
Using the Repeat Feature
The default mode for the Repeat feature is off. There are two Repeat options for CDs: ®S All-repeats the disc that is playing ®§ Track-repeats the track that is playing To Use Repeat:

SPDIF OUTPUT
SPDIF OFF: No Signal is output from the
coaxial port.
SPDIF/RAW; Select this when the DVD player is connected with a digital amplifier through coaxial port. When a Dolby Digital disc, DTS disc or MPEG disc are played, the coaxial output will be optional. The power amplifier to be connected must have Dolby Digital, DTS and MPEG decoding.
SPDIF/PCM: Select this when the DVD player is connected with a 2-channel digital stereo amplifier. When a Dolby Digital or MPEG disc is played, the coaxial port will output in PCM 2-channel format.

SCREENSAVER

Some discs have images with different viewing angles, you may select among them. For example, when you watch a running train, you may watch it from the front, the left window or the right window without stopping it.

If you experience the following problems while using the unit, this
troubleshooting guide can help you.
No sound ®§Check if the unit is connected securely. ®§Check If the volume of headphone Is set to MIN when using
headphone.
®§Make sure you operate the TV or amplifier correctly. ®§Make sure you have selected DVD player position on the
amplifier.
No image ®§Check if the unit is connected securely. ®§Make sure you operate the TV correctly. ®§Make sure you set the color system correctly.
Bad sound quality ^SMack sure the audio output mode is set correctly.
^§Make sure the audio connection between the unit and amplifier is
right.
Disc can not be played ®§There is no disc in the unit. ®§Put the disc on the disc tray properly with the label
side up. ®§Clean the disc. ®§Moisture has condensed in the unit.
Remove the disc and leave the unit on for about one hour.
Remote control does not work ®§Remove barriers between the remote control and the unit.
®§Point the remote control at the remote control sensor of the unit. ^SReplace the batteries with new ones.
Image rolls and no color The color system of the unit doesn't match with that of TV. Please select the correct TV TYPE until TV shows normal colorl.

USING THE BATTERY PACK
The rechargeable battery pack is suitable when adapting the DVD player for portable use and when it is convenient for you to enjoy the unique functions of the DVD player out of doors. To recharge the battery:
1 Remove the battery pack from the DVD player (if being used) and attach
it to the supplied battery charger. Then connect the battery pack output plug to the charger OUTPUT jack. Connect the charger INPUT jack to
the AC adapter output (DC 9V at 2.2A).
Notes: 1) The input voltage of the battery charger is:DC9V, 2.2A;
2) Generally, the battery pack can be charged and discharged about 500 times:
3) The marking voltage of the battery pack is 7.4V, the capacity is
5750mAh. A special 1C protection logic is included to prevent
deformation caused by over-charging and over-discharging.
2. It takes about 6 hours to fully charge the battey pack; the red charging LED indicator goes out and charging is complete. Unplug the AC power supply cord from the AC adapter: then unplug the battery pack from the battery charger and attach it at the corresponding position at the back of the DVD player. Insert the plug of the battey pack to the
DC IN jack of the DVD player.
