PRECAUTIONS
Follow the advice below for safe and appropriate operation.
ON PLACEMENT
• Do not use the unit in places which are extremely hot, cold, dusty, or humid.
• Place the unit on a flat and even surface.
• Do not restrict the air flow of the unit by placing it in a place with poor air flow, by covering it with a cloth, or by placing it on carpet.
ON SAFETY
• When connecting and disconnecting the AC cord, grip the plug and not the cord itself. Pulling the cord may damage it and create a hazard.
• When you are not going to use the unit for a long period of time, unplug it.
ON AC VOLTAGE
• Before use, check that the rated voltage of your unit matches your local voltage.
ON CONDENSATION
• When left in a heated room where it is warm and damp, water droplets or condensation may from inside the CD player.
• When there is condensation inside the unit, the unit may not function normally.
• Let it stand for 1 to 2 hours before turning the power on, or gradually heat the room up and dry the unit before use.

REMOTE CONTROL
USING THE REMOTE CONTROL CORRECTLY
• Point the Remote Control at the REMOTE SENSOR located on the unit.
• When there is a strong ambient light source, the performance of the infrared REMOTE SENSOR may be degraded, causing unreliable operation.
• The recommended effective distance for remote operation is about 19 feet (6 m).
TO INSTALL BATTERIES

When batteries become weak, the operating distance of the Remote Control is greatly reduced and you will need to replace the batteries.
NOTE: If the Remote Control is not going to be used for a long time, remove the batteries to avoid damage caused by battery leakage corrosion.

TURNING ON THE UNIT
TO TURN ON THE UNIT
Press the power on button, the display will light up. Select the desired function and the corresponding function indicator will light up.
Press the power button until the display show the time.

TIMER OPERATION
The power can be turned on and off automatically at a preset time so that you can wake up to CD or radio. Make sure the clock is correct before timer setting.
TIMER SETTING
1. Press clock button until timer ‘00’ is in the display.
2. Press memory button in clock mode. Hour blink.
3. Press skip button to set correct hour.
4. Press memory button to make minutes blink.
5. Press skip button to set correct minutes
6. Press memory button to set the duration of timer to be on. It can be set from 5 minutes to 240 minutes.
Cancel the timer function
Press the timer button until the timer indicator turns off. It can only be operated when the unit is turned on.

TUNER SECTION
TUNING INTO A STATION MANUALLY
1. Press the FUNCTION button to TUNER.
2. Press BAND button and tune a station.
3. Press the TUNING button to select a station
FOR BETTER RECEPTION FM
Connect the external FM antenna wire to the FM antenna terminal. Fully unwind the wire antenna. Then extend the wire antenna and place it in the position that sounds best.
NOTE: DO NOT CONNECT TO AN OUTSIDE ANTENNA

Adjust the AM loop antenna for the best sound.

TO SEARCH FOR A STATION AUTOMATICALLY
Press the TUNING button UP or DOWN for 1 to 2 seconds, and a station is searched for automatically. After tuning in to a station, the search stops.
The search may not stop at a station with a very weak signal.
IF THE FM STEREO BROADCAST SIGNAL IS WEAK
Set FM STEREO button until “ST”indicator appears in the display for a while. Background noise will be reduced but the signal reproduced will be mono.
PRESETTING STATION
The unit can store a total of 40 stations. They can be tuned in to by selecting their preset numbers. It is possible to store stations of any band in order of your choice.

SYSTEM CONNECTIONS
IMPORTANT
Switch off the power before connecting speakers and other equipment.
1. AM LOOP ANTENNA TERMINALS
Do not connect to an outside antenna. Connect the supplied AM loop antenna to receive the AM broadcast signal.
2.CONNECTION WITH OTHER OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT
To listen to audio signals from external units through this unit. Connect the red plug to the Aux R jack, and the white plug to the Aux L jack.
LISTENING TO THE CONNECTED EQUIPMENT
a. Press the FUNCTION button to AUX. b. Play the external source.
3. POWER OUTPUT METER SOCKET
Insert the black cable with the plug of the Subwoofer to this socket. This connects the unit to the Power meter indicator in the subwoofer.
4. SUB-WOOFER OUTPUT TERMINAL
Connect the speaker cable for the Subwoofer to this terminal. Arrange the speakers to ensure a stereo effect. The main sound direction should not be interfered with by furniture, curtains etc.
5. FM ANTENNA WIRE TERMINAL
Do not connect to an outside antenna. Connect the supplied FM antenna to this terminal to receive an acceptable FM signal.
In some extreme cases, due to shock, excessive static electricity or changes on supply voltage, the unit may not operate, and you will not be able to activate the control on the unit.

MANUAL MEMORY PRESETTING
This feature allows you to set stations into memory.
1. Press the FUNCTION button to TUNER

TUNING INTO A PRESET STATION
Press the Skip/Preset button NOTE
If a button is not pressed for 10 seconds the preset mode will be exited automatically.
2. Press the BAND button to select the desired band and tune a station.
5. Press the memory/clock set button.
6. SPEAKER CORD CONNECTION
Connect the right speaker to the R terminal, and the left to the L terminal.
Connect the wires with the printed white lines to the red (+) terminals and the plain-black wires to the black (-) terminals.
WARNING:
Connecting speakers other than the speakers supplied with the unit may damage the unit.
7. POWER CORD CONNECTION
Before use, check that the rated voltage of your unit matches your local voltage.
Connect the AC cord to an AC outlet. The clock will be displayed.
Caution: To prevent electrical shock, match wide blade of plug to wide slot, fully insert.
In this case, please turn off the power, then disconnect the AC power cord. To resume operation, connect the AC power cord into the power outlet again.
3. Press the MEMORY/CLOCK set button.
6. To preset more than one station,
repeat steps 2 to 5.
CD SECTION
CD PLAYING
1. Press FUNCTION button to CD.
2. If the unit is in the horizontal position, insert the CD with the label side facing up.
If the unit is in the vertical position, insert the CD with the label side facing right.
TO INTERRUPT PLAYBACK
Press button. The pause indicator will light up. To resume playback, press button again.
TO STOP PLAYBACK
Press button.
Locating a particular point in a track
To move backward at high speed
Keep SKIP/PRESET button pressed during play and release at the desired point.
To move forward at high speed
Keep SKIP/PRESET button pressed during play and release at the desired point
BACKWARD
Keep it pressed during play
REPEAT PLAY
This function will allow a single track or all the tracks on the disc to be played repeatedly.
To repeat the same track
Press REPEAT button to repeat the current track. The repeat indicator light up.
To repeat the whole disc
Press REPEAT button until the indicator light up.
To cancel repeat play
Press REPEAT until the repeat indicator turn off.
During stop mode
The repeat operations can also be done in the stop mode. The player will start playing from Track 1 of the currently selected disc after play/pause button is pressed.
During pause mode
The repeat operations can also be done from the pausing point. The player will start playing again after play/pause is pressed.
FORWARD
3. The total number of tracks and playback time will show in the display for a few seconds.
4. To start playing, press play button.
NOTE
The CD player may skip if the loud speakers are situated close to the player and if high volume or bass levels are used.
This unit only plays 5” CDs.
Searching for the beginning of a track
To find a previous track
Keep SKIP/PRESET button once to return to the beginning of the current traack.
To skip tracks
Keep SKIP/PRESET button repeatedly to skip track(s) forward one by one.
BACKWARD
Press it once
RANDOM PLAY
Tracks on the disc can be played in random order.
Playing in a random order - in stop mode
1. Press the Random button, the word RANDOM will appear on the display.
Notes:
1. The random function shuffles all the tracks and randomly selects one track to play each time.
2. The player will skip to a new randomly selected track and start playing if skip button is pressed during random playback.
In playback mode
During normal playback the random function cannot be activated. It can be switched ON from the STOP mode.
To cancel random playback
1. Press the stop button to stop random playing.
2. Press the RANDOM button to deactivate random playback.
NOTE
During random playback, the RANDOM playback function cannot be cancelled. Random play cancellation can only be done in stop mode.
2. Press the play/pause button. Some abnormal symbols will be shown on the display and a short period of time is needed for tracks shuffling before playback can be started.
FORWARD
PROGRAMMING PLAYBACK – IN THE STOP MODE
Up to 32 tracks can be programmed to play in an order using this function
1.Press MEMORY / CLOCK button (in stop mode).
3. Press memory button again to store this track in memory.
4. To program additional tracks: Repeat step 2 to 3.
5. To start playback, press the play button
NOTE
With program on, the skip button function can only be used for the selected tracks.
To check the program
Press memory button successively to check the sequence of programmed tracks.
SLEEP SETTING
When the sleep timer is used, the power is automatically turned off after the specified time passes.
1. Press the sleep button while the power is on. Sleep 90 lights in the display
2. Press and hold the SLEEP button to select the length of remaining time until the unit turns off.
The sleep timer is set and the SLEEP indicator lights in the display. Let go when required sleep time (in minutes) is shown.
To cancel the sleep timer, press the SLEEP button once and SLEEP will go out in the display.

STOPPING AND CANCELLING PROGRAMMED PLAYBACK
To stop programmed play for a moment:
• Press play/pause button and will be displayed. Press this button again to resume playing.
To add additional tracks during program playback:
• Press stop button, press the MEMORY/ CLOCK button until the track indication is “--“ and then repeat steps 2 to 3 (programmable playback).
To erase the whole program:
• Press stop button until the word MEMORY disappears from the display. The display will then show the information of the current disc.
• Or press the FUNCTION button to select other functions.
ADJUSTING THE SOUND
To adjust the volume Slide the volume knob to
clockwise or anti-clockwise to increase or decrease the volume.
For loud deep bass
Press X-BASS button to increase the low frequency sound level.
For private listening
Connect a headphone (ø3.5mm stereo mini­plug) to the PHONES jack. When the headphone is connected, speakers are automatically disconnected.
VERTICAL OR HORIZONTAL
This system is specially designed to work in a vertical or horizontal position.
For proper operation, make sure the unit is placed on a flat stable surface.

TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE
SYMPTOM CAUSE (AND REMEDY) CD
System does not turn on • Make sure AC power plug is secure in the outlet, Disc in place but until won’t play • Make sure FUNCTION selector is set to CD.
Disc skips • Disc may be damaged or dirty; check disc.
RADIO
Poor FM reception • Make sure FM antenna wire is unwind.
Poor AM reception • Reposition or turn the unit for better reception.
and outlet has power.
• Make sure disc label is facing up.
• Make sure disc is clean.
• Pause mode is activated.
• Press and hold EJECT button for 3 seconds to eject the disc, take it away from disc tray then inset again.
• Make sure the unit is on a secure spot. Vibration or jarring can cause the disc to skip.
• Electrical interference in your home can cause poor reception. Move the unit away from sources of interference (especially those with motors and transformers).
MAINTENANCE
CLEANING CD
If the CD skips or will not play, the disc may need cleaning. Before playing, wipe the disc from the centre out with a cleaning cloth. After playing, store the disc in its case.
CLEANING THE UNIT
Do not use volatile chemicals on this unit. Clean by lightly wiping with a soft cloth.
IMPORTANT NOTE
Before transporting the unit, take out all discs from the CD tray.
