GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
PRECAUTIONS: IMPORTANT - READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY
A. THIS UNIT IS NOT DESIGNED FOR USE WITH "FLOATING-GROUND" OR "BRIDGE-AUDIO" OUTPUT RADIOS
OR STEREO SYSTEMS. If in doubt, consult owner's manual of your stereo system or store where purchased. Damage to stereo system and/or this unit may result if this unit is wired to a "Floating-Ground" or "Bridged-Audio" system. NOTE: If the owner's manual of your existing stereo radio/tape player advises NOT TO GROUND YOUR SPEAKERS, you can be reasonably sure that the system is a Floating-Ground or Bridge-Audio type and should not be used with this unit.
B. Due to the extremely high output power of this unit it is necessary that speakers having a minimum power rating of
20 watts be used. Use of lesser rated speakers may cause damage to speakers.
C. DO NOT ground any speaker to a metal part of the car. Use two wires for each speaker (one positive, one negative)
and return and splice all wires to the amplifier speaker output as shown in the wiring diagrams. Failure to follow this
wiring method will damage the amplifier. D. Avoid operating unit at maximum power levels for prolonged periods as the speakers may be damaged. E. This unit is designed for 12 volt DC negative ground electrical systems only.

INSTALLATION
1. Assemble the two side-mount support brackets to the
sides of the amplifier using the four black screws provided. CAUTION: Do not use any screw other than those provided as a longer screw may short-circuit interior components.
2. Using the amplifier as a template, locate the desired
mounting area below dash (or on console). NOTE: Before deciding on a mounting location consider these points:
A. Is it accessible for easy operation while driving? B. Is it a good solid mounting surface? C. Will all wiring reach to their intended locations? D. Will it obstruct or interfere with passengers or other
controls?
3. Having selected a mounting location, mark the two
mounting holes on the mounting surface.
4. Place unit in position and secure using the two pan
head screws provided.
5. Continue on to wiring instructions.

NOTE: If your car stereo has four speaker outputs (left front, left rear, right
front and right rear) you can usually combine the front output wires with the rear output wires to make a single output (example: Combine Left Front + with Left Rear + to make a single LEFT + output). CAUTION: Before doing this, check your radio's manual since some outputs cannot be combined. In this case, only use the front or rear outputs alone.

OPERATION
POWER ON-OFF SWITCH
To turn amplifier on simply depress the power button. The power indicator lamp will illuminate to indicate the amplifier is operating. With the switch in the outward position, normal stereo operation is resumed and the amplifier is off.
EQUALIZER TONE CONTROLS
Ten slide controls have been built-in for total tone control of the entire audio reproduction range. These controls will vary the tone range from Bass through Treble with the Bass controls at the left, the Mid-Range controls in the middle and the Treble controls at the right.
Since tone quality is an individual application, we recommend you start all ten controls in the mid-position. With all ten controls at the mid-position adjust each control to your personal taste. By moving the control upward you will emphasize that range. (example-Bass control moved upward will emphasize Bass tones, moving it down will de-emphasize Bass tones).
A visual inspection of the setting of the ten controls will provide a graphic illustration of your actual response curve showing which ranges are emphasized and which are de-emphasized. Each slide control can vary response (from the mid-position detent) upward by 12db or downward by 12 db, for a total variation range of 24 db. NOTE: For the best operation of the amplifier, set the tone control of your stereo system at a mid-position.
LED POWER LEVEL METERS
These LED's will sequentially illuminate from one to five providing a relative indication of the peak power output from the unit. Power output is controlled by the volume control of your in-dash stereo system.
VOLUME
The volume level of the amplifier is controlled by the volume control of your
existing stereo system. Avoid setting volume at maximum levels since you
are at maximum distortion levels which the amplifier will reproduce.
FRONT/REAR FADER CONTROL
When wired to four speakers as shown in the wiring diagram for 4 speakers,
the fader control will vary volume level to either the two front or two rear
speakers depending upon the setting of the control. Adjust the Fader control
for balanced front-to-rear sound. NOTE: Fader control will operate with unit
"off" for use in normal stereo operation.
The balance control on your existing stereo system will control sound level to
the two left and the two right speakers. Adjust this control for balanced left-
to-right sound. NOTE: If your existing stereo system had both Left-Right and
Front-Rear controls you will find that the method of wiring it to the AMP-772
has made the Front-Rear control inoperable. The front-rear fader control on
the AMP-772 will operate in place of it. You will also notice that even with
amplifier off you will not have use of the stereo's front-rear control. The fader
control on the AMP-772 will still operate even though the unit is off.
When wired to only two speakers, the built-in fader control on the amplifier
will not operate. Only the existing Balance control on your stereo sound
system will work. Use the Balance control as you normally would and set the
fader control to the mid-position.
