CD6 CD Transport/DAC
Solid-state Digital Prowess
“The sound is hugely detailed, with the richness and texture of instruments
coming through. There’s an impressive sense of scale when the music demands,
and the sort of wide-ranging dynamic swing that only the very best equipment
manages… It’s one of the best sounding we’ve heard at this price, and for those
who need futureproofing (and let’s face it, few of us don’t), easy access to its
excellent on-board DAC makes it a really useful product in any high-end system.”
What Hi-Fi?, July 2014
The CD6 is an all solid-state design, demonstrating our prowess is not limited to tubes. When utilized as a DAC, it accommodates PCM digital files up to 192kHz/24-bit resolution.
A full complement of digital inputs (asynchronous USB, Coax-RCA and Toslink) assures maximum compatibility, all isolated from the circuitry within – guaranteeing maximum dynamic range and an undetectable noise floor. Single-ended and balanced analog outputs are offered, along with AES/EBU and BNC digital outputs. The CD6 has quad 24-bit DACs running in mono mode, with dual master oscillators; one for 44.1/88.2/176.4 sample rates, the other for 48/96/192kHz sample rates. Upsampling is available for all inputs including compact disc and USB. There are selectable digital filter rolloffs.
The CD6 is a stunner, uncovering new musical detail in every corner of your recordings and providing startling dynamics, both micro and macro. The top end is extended, airy and pure, while bass definition and impact are precise and powerful. Recording venues are lifelike, broad and expansive or close-up and intimate, depending on what was captured by the engineer. Like all great analog, listening to music through the CD6 draws you into the performance, not just the notes, with resolution and transparency that are in service of the music.
After nearly 50 years, our focus remains the advancement of the state-of-the-art in music reproduction. Every component is meticulously hand-crafted and personally auditioned before it leaves our factory. Our attention to detail, customer service, and product support create unprecedented value. An Audio Research component is more than a purchase, it’s an investment.
The CD6 achieves a level of musicality few digital components attain. It’s freedom from artifacts that mar digital performance might just have you looking for the turntable hidden in the room. We invite you to audition one with your favorite CDs at your local Audio Research dealer.
