INSTALLATION MANUAL:
The STEREO MATCHIT(TM) is a high quality device that solves the problem often encountered when the speakers you wish to use have a lower impedance than your amplifier can accommodate. The unit employs a tri-filar wound transformer with impedance selector switch. This provides a choice of desired impedance to the amplifier while maintaining a flat frequency response for optimum sound reproduction.
The unit doubles the impedance of the speaker as seen by the amplifier. The switch that is provide on the rear panel accommodates a 4, 6, or 8 Ohm speaker. If the switch is on the X2 position a 4 Ohm speaker will appear as 8 Ohms to the amplifier. If the switch is on the X4 position an 4 Ohm speaker will appear as 16 Ohms. This means that any 4, 6, or 8 Ohm speaker that is presently on the market can be used safely with any amplifier or receiver, including those that cannot normally operate with any speakers of lower than 8 Ohms impedance. Since a transformer is used to achieve a safe impedance load, there is no heat or power loss in the use of this unit. There is a 3 dB level drop to the speaker, but no amplifier output is wasted as heat.
The STEREO MATCHIT(TM) is 6" long and 5" deep and 2 3/4" high. It has push to connect terminals on the rear panel that will accept 8 to 22 gauge wire.. It can be located at the amplifier output or anywhere between. Power rating is 72 or 100 Watts RMS continuous 35-20,000 Hz, 216 or 300 Watts peak audio.
