- General Information -

1 General Information

Please read this operating instruction manual thoroughly.
Under no circumstances open the device or complete any
repair work yourself. In the case of claims under the terms of
guarantee, contact your sales outlet.

Disposal

In order to dispose of your device, take it to a
collection point provided by your local public
waste authorities (e.g. recycling centre). The
adjacent symbol indicates that the device must not
be disposed of in normal domestic waste!
According to laws on the disposal of electronic
and electrical devices, owners are obliged to
dispose of old electronic and electrical devices
in a separate waste container.
Packaging materials must be disposed of
according to local regulations.

Temperature and ambient conditions

The telephone is designed for use in indoor rooms with a
temperature range from 10 °C to 30 °C. The telephone should
not be used in rooms exposed to moisture, such as bathrooms
or laundries. Do not locate the device in the vicinity of sources
of heat such as radiators, and never expose it to direct
sunlight.

Installation location

Do not place the telephone in the direct vicinity of other
electronic equipment, such as microwave ovens or hi-fi
systems, since they could cause mutual disturbance. The
installation location is a decisive factor to ensure trouble-free
operation.

Place the telephone on a level, non-slip surface. Normally, the
footpads do not leave any marks on the surface where it is
located. However, due to the diverse types of paints and
surfaces which come into question, it cannot be fully ruled out
that the footpads will leave marks on the surface on which it is
located.

Do not use the telephone in potentially explosive areas.

Prevent excessive exposure to smoke, dust, vibration,
chemicals, humidity, heat or direct sunlight.

Cleaning and upkeep

Clean the housing surfaces with a dry, soft, fluff-free cloth.
Never use cleaning agents or aggressive solvents. Apart from
occasionally cleaning the housing, no other upkeep is
necessary. The rubber footpads on the telephone are not
resistant to all cleaning agents. Therefore, the manufacturer is
not liable for any damage to furniture or such.

CE mark

The telephone is compliant with the basic requirements of the
R&TTE Directive. This is confirmed by the CE mark.

3 Starting Up

3.1 General information

ATTENTION! It is essential to read the General Information at

the beginning of this manual before starting up.

3.2 Checking the package contents

The package contains:
a base unit a receiver
a telephone connection cable a helix cable
an operating manual

3.3 Connecting the receiver

After unpacking the telephone, first of all connect the receiver
to the base unit. Take one end of the helix cable and plug it
into the socket at the bottom end of the receiver. Turn the base
station over and plug the other end into the lower socket (see
Chapter 2, Section Bottom of base unit, Item 7.). Fit the cable
securely in the cable duct.

3.4 Connecting the telephone

Attach the telephone cable (included) to the telephone line
socket and the socket (see Chapter 2, Section Bottom of base
unit, Item 8.) on the bottom side of the base station. Thread the
cable through the cable duct either towards the top or the
bottom out of the telephone housing. Fit the cable securely in
the cable duct.

The telephone uses tone dialling.

3.5 Wall mounting

The telephone can also be installed on a wall using two
screws. Drill two holes 85 mm vertically apart. Allow the screws
to protrude 5 mm from the wall. Attach the base unit by
hooking it over the two screws protruding from the wall and
pushing it down a bit.

When the phone is mounted on the wall, the receiver can be
placed on-hook without breaking the connection. Position the
small hook at the top end of the receiver cradle.

4 Operation

4.1 Telephoning

The telephone can be used just like any other conventional
telephone.

Please follow the instructions below:

Pick up the receiver and wait for the dialling tone.
Dial a number as appropriate.
To end a call, replace the receiver in the cradle. Alternatively,

press the Disconnect button to end the call being made and
immediately connect to a free outside line.

4.2 Taking a call

When a call is received, the telephone starts to ring. Pick up
the receiver to answer the call.

4.3 Redialling

The telephone automatically stores the last number dialled.
Proceed as follows to use the redialling feature:

Pick up the receiver the press the å button. The number
stored in the redialling memory is dialled.

4.4 Adjusting the ringing tone

Use the sliding switch on the receiver to select the
volume setting for the ringing tone
order to adapt it to your needs. If you do not want to be
disturbed, move the slider to the

(loud) or (quiet) in

position (off).

- Private Branch Exchanges -

5 Private Branch Exchanges

5.1 R button on private branch exchanges

If the telephone is connected to a private branch exchange
(PABX), functions such as transferring calls and automatic
call back etc. can be used.
The "R" signal button enables access to these functions.
Please contact your sales outlet where the PABX was
purchased to find out whether your phone can operate
properly in the private branch exchange and if other facilities
and services are available.

5.2 Dialling phone numbers when operating in
a PABX

In the case of private branch exchanges, it is necessary to
dial a specific number (e.g. “9” or “0”) in order to obtain the
dialling tone for an outside line. When using some older
private branch exchanges, it takes a little time before the
dialling tone becomes audible. Particularly in the case of
such private branch exchanges, it is useful to insert an
automatic pause after the number for the outside line so that
the number can be dialled in a continuous process without
having to wait for the dialling tone.

To insert a dialling pause, press the Redial button once after
entering the number for the outside line and before entering
the actual telephone number. After dialling the number for
the outside line, the telephone then waits 3 seconds before
dialling the actual phone number.
