he Model 9870D DuoDrive™ incorporates the key signal paths necessary for

premium home audio and video entertainment systems. Consisting of one 9871

Driver and two 9879 wallplate/receivers, the DuoDrive distributes component video up

to a resolution of 1080p, as well as both digital and analog audio, over two inexpensive, easy-to-install CAT 5 cables from a single
source to two remote locations. The DuoDrive is easily expandable in increments of two outputs by adding additional 9870Ds.
Audio Authority’s unique cable length compensation also allows adjustment for the optimal signal strength at any distance up to
1,000 feet from the source, faithfully preserving the signal’s original color and detail for maximum enjoyment.

9879 Wallplate/Receiver

9870D WALLPLATE/RECEIVERS:

The Cat 5 outputs from a Model 9871 driver terminate
at 9879 wallplate/receivers, (or 9880 self-enclosed
receivers) which provide a remote connection point for
an HDTV video and/or audio sound system. The active
circuitry in the wallplates is powered through the Cat 5
bus, so no power connection is required at the remote
zone. Each receiver can be adjusted to compensate
for the cable length up to 1,000 feet. Component
video, digital and analog audio signals are carried on
two Cat 5 cables to each wallplate/receiver. A control
signal pathway for a 3rd party IR remote system is also
part of the Cat 5 bus. This pathway allows the desired
source to be selected remotely via IR.

The 9870D is comprised of
the Model 9871 RCA-to-Cat 5
Driver and the Model 9879
wallplate. These products enable
distribution of audio, video and
IR control signals on Cat 5 cable
runs of up to 1,000 feet. The
buffered Cat 5 bus outputs on
each 9871 drive one or two 9879
wallplates.

To expand output capacity of
the system, connect together an
unlimited number of Drivers using
an Audio Authority Kit 46. The
9879 offers a wallplate/receiver
form factor to fit a standard
single-gang electrical box. DC
power for each wallplate is
supplied through the Cat 5 cable
from the 9871’s power supply.

In addition to its Cat 5 outputs,
the 9871 RCA bus output may be
used as a pass-through output
for a nearby HDTV and/or home
theater.

9878 & 9880 OPTIONAL RECEIVERS

In addition to the two 9879 wallplate/receivers (shown on page
one) that come with each 9870D system, Audio Authority offers the
option of using the 9878 dual-gang, stainless steel wallplate (left)
or the enclosed 9880 receiver (right). The three can be used in any
combination with each other.
