Applications
Choose from various square enclosure models to fulfill different
in stalla tion and ap pli ca tion re quire ments. Selection includes
protective enclosures for re cessed in stal la tion of stan dard and UL
Listed 4" (102mm) and 8" (203mm) loudspeakers. Mod els are offered
in various depths and screw-mount application of grilles. Select
198-4
models are also offered in high-per for mance, extra-depth versions (8"
deep) with acoustic fiberglass.
Enclosures with greater cubic capacity extend bass response by
allowing ad di tion al acoustic loading for cost-effective application
wherever enhanced audio quality of music and voice reproduction is
desired. Recessed and surface-mount models offer superior quality
with in stallation flexibility for professional sound system use in
es tablishments of all kinds including lounges, restaurants, trans portation
centers, pro fes sional offices, meeting rooms, retail, and rec rea tion
ar eas. Standard depth enclosures are also available.

General Description
Atlas Sound square pro tec tive enclosures are cost-ef fec tive assemblies that
mount a wide variety of Atlas Sound grilles. All models are of welded CRS
con struc tion, finished in black enamel, and are undercoated to elim i nate
mechanical and acous ti cal resonances. Units are also furnished with four
com pound conduit knockouts. Refer to chart on back for di men sions and
mounting in for ma tion.
Atlas Sound extra-depth enclosures with acoustic fiberglass lin ing
extend quality and enhance performance of 8" diameter com mer cial and
pro fessional loudspeakers. The in creased vol ume of these enclosures
ex tends the low fre quency re sponse by improving acous tic loading.
Back box inner sur faces are undercoated to prevent metallic resonance
in the higher end of the frequency spectrum and lined with 1
thick high density fiberglass (11⁄2 lbs. per ft3). All en clo sures are
constructed of heavy-gauge CRS and include four conveniently located
com bi na tion conduit knock-outs to fa cili tate in stallation. Recessed
models are fin ished in rust-preventive, textured black coating.

Architect and Engineer Specifications
The metal protective enclosure shall be Atlas Sound Model ________
[198-8-8]. The en clo sure shall be con structed of heavy-gauge cold rolled
steel with interior under coat ing and 11⁄2" (38mm) thick high density
fiberglass (11⁄2 lbs. per ft.3). The unit shall be __________ (round or
square) and designed for __________ (recessed or surface) installations
which will be accomplished via __________ (standard screw, torsion
spring, flange mount, welded clip) mount ing. Recessed models shall
have a rust-preventive, textured black coating and the surface-mount
unit finished in textured white. All enclosures shall include four triple
com pound conduit knock outs.
Protective enclosure shall be Atlas Sound Model _____. It shall contain
four compound knockouts and be equipped (with, without) torsion spring
receptacles. It shall be of weld ed CRS construction, have a black painted
finish, and be undercoated to elim i nate mechanical and acous ti cal
resonances (191 Series is also patch-jute lined). Unit shall accommodate
Atlas Sound baffle Model _____ and Atlas Sound (8", 4") loudspeaker
Model _____.
