The Atlas Whoopy is a reverse dorsal walking aid that provides support for walking thus allowing the
user to move independently. An important quality of the Atlas Whoopy is its greater stability. The
new Whoopy rollators are made of steel with a continuous frame that makes them very solid. They
consequently provide a lot of support and safety while walking. This walking aid is available in 3
sizes and is consequently suited for children as well as adults.
The Atlas Whoopy bears the CE label, which indicates that it meets European requirements.
The Whoopy is configured by the dealer prior to delivery. After this, the most important settings can
be changed without difficulty to ensure that the user derives optimal benefits from his/her Atlas
Whoopy by following the directions contained in this user guide.
The user guide contains a great many photographs that will facilitate finding the adjustment facilities
on the Whoopy.

11.. TThhee AAttllaass WWhhooooppyy
The new Atlas Whoopy rollators are the next generation dorsal rollators. These rollators provide
improved functional features, are available in multiple sizes (for children as well as adults) and
provide stability. With the reverse dorsal rollators, the user pulls the rollator from behind as it were
and uses the handles for support. The user will consequently raise him/herself into a more upright
position and will therefore walk more erect. The user is positioned between the supports and
consequently has greater stability, support and safety.
The Whoopy is collapsible and is therefore easy to take along or store. Much effort also went into
designing its shape. The Whoopy is an entirely new design and is characterised by its continuous
frame, the thicker tubes, the curved lines and the refreshing colour scheme. The Whoopy is the
most stable dorsal walking aid available in the marketplace.
Three sizes
The Whoopy walking aid is available in three standard sizes and can be used for children and adults
alike:
- Size 1 (yellow): suitable for users with a height of around 65 cm to 115 cm;
- Size 2 (red): suitable for users with a height of around 95 cm to 130 cm;
- Size 3 (blue): suitable for users with a height of around 110 cm to 180 cm.
Standard features
The standard Whoopy walking aid comes with handgrips that are adjustable in height and width.
The front of the frame is equipped with swivel wheels with directional locks. The wheels at the back
are equipped with a new unique anti-reverse wheel stop that is indestructible.
Because of the fact that the Atlas Whoopy rollator is made with a continuous steel frame, it provides
excellent stability, quality and durability. Furthermore, the Whoopy rollators consequently also
provides much greater carrying strength. This is in contrast to lightweight rollators (usually made of
aluminium), that indeed are easy to lift, but that in Atlas’ experience offer less stability and carrying
strength.
The Atlas Whoopy can be expanded to include the following options:
• Removable seat;
• Back support bar at the back of the rollator for additional support during walking;
• Flexible pelvic support with band in conjunction with the back support bar;
• Set of side pads for the pelvic support;
• Band for the pelvic support;
• Basket.

Atlas has taken every precaution to ensure the user’s safety; a great deal of attention has been paid
to the design of the Whoopy and the settings are adjusted professionally prior to the initial use of the
walking aid. Nevertheless, it is imperative for the user’s supervisors and parents to adhere to the
following safety instructions in order to safeguard the safe use of the walking aid.
2.1 Safety instructions
a) First read the user guide and try out the walking aid before it is used;
b) Never leave the user alone in the walking aid and always supervise its use;
c) Ensure that no one sits down on a rollator without anti-tipping supports to avoid the risk of the
walking aid tipping over;
d) To avoid any risk of the walking aid tipping over, ensure that the basket, if fitted, is never
overloaded;
e) Ensure that all fastenings and parts used to secure the user in position are properly tightened;
f) Only use the walking aid on level ground without obstacles (always use anti-tipping supports);
g) Do not allow other children (definitely not without supervision) to play with the walking aid, ride
on it or hang on the handgrips;
h) Only change the walking aid's settings when the user is not using it;
i) To ensure a sturdy connection, never use the maximum height or depth (also refer to the
maximum height of the handgrips in this regard: see chapter 8);
j) Do not exceed the maximum user weight: Size 1: 40 kg; Size 2: 75 kg and Size 3: 100 kg;
k) Any service, change or adaptation carried out by someone other than a person authorised by
Atlas Revalidatie Techniek will invalidate the warranty and will cause Atlas Revalidatie
Techniek’s general liability to lapse;
l) The walking aid must be serviced once a year, otherwise Atlas Revalidatie Techniek can no
longer be held liable.
Safety instructions ‘b’ and ‘c’ are repeated on a warning sticker affixed to the walking aid (see figure
below). Make sure that this text remains legible at all times. If necessary ask for a new copy of this
sticker.
2.2 Immediate danger
• In the event of immediate danger, do not let the user use the walking aid, but lead him/her to a
safe location.

Before using the walking aid, inspect it for visible defects. In case of doubt consult the supplier. Ask
your supplier to instruct you, if you are not yet familiar with the use of this walking aid.
Please read this manual carefully prior to making use of the walking aid and verify that the use and
purpose of all components are clear to you (try everything out first, before allowing the user to make
use of the walking aid). Familiarise yourself with the safety instructions in chapter 2.
Arrangements can be made to receive personal instruction from your supplier. In the event of
problems, contact the treating therapist or the supplier of the walking aid.
Make sure that all fastenings and parts used to secure the user in
position are properly tightened.
Never leave the user alone in the walking aid. Always supervise its use.
Attention:
Read chapter 4, Operation, before using the walking aid for the first
time.

Hexagonal key (Allen key)s number 4 and 6 are required for the initial settings. The other
adjustments can be made by hand. The adjustments should be made when the user is not using
the walking aid.
4.1 Collapsing the frame
• Storing and transporting is easier due to the fact that the
walking aid is collapsible.
• Before the walking aid can be collapsed, the handgrips must
be turned aside: use hexagonal key (Allen key) number 6 to
slightly loosen the adjusting screw at the back of the bar and
swing the bar up (see illustration 7 and section 4.3, Width).
Retighten the adjusting screw. Do the same thing with the
other handgrip.
• The walking aid can now be collapsed by pulling up the top bar
at the back of the walking aid: pull on the top bar with one
hand and keep the lower bar in place with the other hand.
• When you unfold the walking aid, hold on to both bars at the
back of the walking aid. Pay attention to avoid your fingers
from becoming jammed between the two bars.
4.2 The directional locks
• The directional locks can be used if the child has difficulty
steering while walking.
• The directional locks (see illustration 4) are located on top of
the two front wheels. Hold on to the walking aid with one hand
and pull out the directional lock pin on one of the wheels with
the other hand, and give it a quarter turn. As the pin is turned,
the raised edge falls into a small groove. As the swivel wheel is
turned, the pin automatically falls into the hole destined for this
purpose, thus locking the swivel wheel. Verify that the locking
mechanism is securely in place.
To remove the directional lock, the pin must be pulled back up
and turned a quarter turn thereby preventing the pin from
dropping back into the small hole.
Attention:
Adopt a comfortable posture while making use of the hexagonal key (Allen key)s and the levers.
Verify that everything is securely fastened after making the adjustments.

4.3 The height and width of the handgrips
Height
• The height of the handgrips is different for each child. The settings
are adjusted in consultation with the therapist.
• The lever for adjusting the height of the handgrips is located at the
bottom of each handgrip bar (see illustration 5).
• Push the lever up so that the height can be adjusted. Place the
other handgrip at the same height. After making the height
adjustment, push the levers fully down and verify that the
handgrips have been securely retightened.
• The height can also be varied by adjusting the width of the
handgrips (see next section, ‘Width’).
Width
• The width of the handgrips is different for each child.
The settings are adjusted in consultation with the therapist.
• The screw for adjusting the width is located at the back of the handgrips (see illustration 6).
• Hold on to the handgrip with one hand and loosen the adjusting screw with the other hand by
turning it to the left and set the desired width. Place the other handgrip at the same width.
Securely retighten the adjusting screws after making the adjustment and verify that the
handgrips are firmly in place.
• To return the handgrips to a comfortable position, loosen the other adjusting screw (see
illustration 7). Hold on to the handgrip with one hand and loosen the adjusting screw with the
other hand by turning it to the left and set the handgrip to the desired position. Do the same
thing with the other handgrip. Securely retighten the setscrews after making the adjustment and
verify that the handgrips are firmly in place.

4.4 Back support bar and pelvic support (optional)
• The back support bar together with the pelvic support (illustration 8a) serves to provide the user
with additional support and to help him/her walk in the centre of the walking aid, thus allowing
him/her to walk even more upright.
• The pelvic support can be fastened or removed using the lever at the back of the support
(illustration 8b). Verify that the pelvic support is securely fastened.
• The back support bar and the pelvic support are available as separate options and can be
separately mounted.
• A further option is to add side pads to the pelvic support to provide additional support. In
addition, a pelvic band can be added to provide even greater stability to the user during walking.
4.5 Foldable seat (optional)
•
A seat offers the user the opportunity to rest whenever there is a
need, or simply to sit down instead of standing or walking.
•
The seat can be obtained as an additional option, is easy to
install using a click and lock mechanism and is also easy to
remove.
•
The seat is foldable. The seat must be folded down when the
user wants to sit down. When the user wants to start walking, the
preference is for the seat to be placed in an upright position, so
that the user is afforded maximum room for movement while
walking.
4.6 Anti-tipping supports
• The Whoopy rollator is equipped with anti-tipping supports as a
standard feature, to prevent the Whoopy from tipping over.
• Never remove the anti-tipping supports.

• Check daily that all fastenings are properly secured.
• Attend to daily hygiene. The walking aid can be cleaned using general non-chlorinated domestic
cleaning agents. Ensure that no soap residues that could cause skin irritation are left on the
walking aid.
• Keep the walking aid clean: for instance, clean the wheels weekly, as hairs, for example, may
get trapped in them.
• Lightly spray the moving parts with silicon spray once a year. (Note: silicon spray may stain
surfaces.)

• Contact the supplier immediately to arrange for repairs in case of defects that could endanger
the user.
• If you are unsure about the correctness of the adjustments or the correct form and use of
accessories, contact the therapist or supplier about possible changes that may be required.
77.. WWaarrrraannttyy
The following warranty covers normal use:
A warranty of 12 months from the delivery date of the Whoopy walking aid. This warranty only
applies if original Atlas parts are used.
Exceptions
• The warranty does not cover parts that are subject to normal wear;
• Manufacturing defects in parts used to secure the user in position are covered by a three-month
warranty;
• The metal framework is covered by a three-year warranty.
The warranty will be voided in case of:
Damage as a result of misuse, neglect, an accident, incorrect repair, exposure to corrosive or
abrasive agents, walking with or storing the Whoopy in damp conditions, any failure to follow
maintenance or safety instructions, or if replacements or modifications are made by anyone other
than a person authorised by Atlas Revalidatie Techniek.
Atlas Revalidatie Techniek liability
If the warranty is voided, Atlas Revalidatie Techniek’s general liability also lapses.
The walking aid must be serviced once a year, otherwise Atlas Revalidatie Techniek can no longer
be held liable.
Please include your name, address, type of walking aid, serial number and the date of initial use in
any correspondence.
