For over 19 years, Atlantic Technology has specialized in creating high-performance, high-value home theater speaker systems. When we set out to design the System 8200 and 6200, we decided to apply all of our experience to create a no-compromise product. By implementing our exclusive technology, these systems offer the ultimate ﬂexibility in both performance and aesthetics.

The Technology of Sound

It is widely known that dealing with room acoustics is the single most challenging element to achieving high quality sound. The combination of reﬂective surfaces, absorptive surfaces, and bass resonances can drastically alter the sound of even the best-engineered products. These systems address these acoustic issues with several optimization controls on the LCR speakers and subwoofer ampliﬁer.

The controls

Each of the front channel speakers offers three controls to optimize its performance:

• A 3-position high frequency energy switch matches the speaker’s response to the listening room’s reﬂective characteristics.

• A location switch compensates for the speaker being located behind a perforated screen.

• A lower-midrange boundary compensation control adjusts for placing the LCR speakers in a cabinet or directly adjacent to TV.

The LCR speakers

The woofer and midrange cones are made of graphiteloaded homopolymer (GLH), a material that combines the attributes of light weight, high stiffness and superb unitto-unit consistency. This is an ideal cone material, and it contributes greatly to their accurate, extended response.

The brushed aluminum tweeter faceplate has a precisely machined driver opening and horn angle that optimizes the tweeter’s efﬁciency, dispersion and frequency response.

These speakers accurately reproduce the most demanding program material, from the latest theatrical release to large-scale symphonic masterpieces. Whether installed behind a screen or displayed out in the room, they convey a level of detail and tonal realism equaled only by the live performance itself.

The Pedestal Subwoofer

Atlantic has ingeniously integrated a long-throw bass driver (12” in the 8200, 10” in the 6200) into a stylish pedestal enclosure that forms the lower portion of an elegant ﬂoorstanding speaker. (Empty pedestals—without the divers— are also available, for those situations where a ﬂoorstanding tower-type speaker is required, but the actual subwoofer needs to be located away from the L/R speakers.)

The subwoofer ampliﬁer affords a degree of precision, adaptability and power far beyond conventional “powered subwoofers.”

circuitry tunes the Pedestal subwoofer to the room and optimizes its performance by eliminating the ﬁnal obstacle to sonic accuracy: objectionable room resonances. The result is a markedly cleaner system sound, without the “one-note” resonant boom that plagues most real-world installations.

The Center Speaker

At Atlantic, we realize that 60-70% of the cinema experience is handled by this most important of speakers. Both the 8200 C and 6200 C recreate dialogue and on-screen effects with clarity and impact, just like the best movie theaters. They feature driver arrays identical to their associated LR speakers, ensuring ideal tonal matching across the front stage. In addition, a rocker base allows for precise aiming at the prime listening position for optimum coverage.

The 8200 C’s driver complement of (2) 8-inch woofers, (2) 5 ¼-inch midranges and a 1-inch silk dome tweeter means that it has the power handling and output capability to outpace any program material, even in the largest rooms. We know of no center channel speaker like it, anywhere.

The Surrounds
