Since 1989, Atlantic Technology has specialized in creating high-performance, high-value home theater speaker systems. The System 6200e is Atlantic’s second-highest priced system. However, it is a top-of-the-line system by anyone’s standards, offering an impressive level of reﬁnement and ﬂexibility. By utilizing all of our experience, we have created a no- compromise product, able to deliver its superb sound in a wide variety of real-world settings and acoustic environments.

The Technology of Sound

It is widely known that dealing with room acoustics is the single most challenging element to achieving high quality sound. The combination of reﬂective surfaces, absorptive surfaces, and room boundaries can drastically alter the sound of even the best-engineered products. The controls

Each of the front channel speakers offers three controls to optimize its performance:

• A 3-position high frequency energy switch matches the speaker’s response to the listening room’s reﬂective characteristics.

• A location switch compensates for the speaker being located behind a perforated screen.

• A lower-midrange boundary compensation control adjusts for placing the LCR speakers in a cabinet, near a wall, or directly adjacent to TV.

The LCR speakers

The woofer and midrange cones are made of graphite-loaded homopolymer (GLH), a material that combines the attributes of light weight, high stiffness and superb unit-to-unit consistency. This is an ideal cone material, and it contributes greatly to their accurate, extended response.

The steel-blue brushed aluminum tweeter faceplate has a precisely machined driver opening and horn angle that optimizes the tweeter’s efﬁciency, dispersion and frequency response.

These speakers accurately reproduce the most demanding program material, from the latest theatrical release to large-scale symphonic masterpieces. Whether installed behind a screen, mounted in an entertainment unit, or displayed out in the room, they convey a level of detail and tonal realism equaled only by the live performance itself.

An optional pedestal base for the 6200e LR transforms it into an elegant ﬂoor standing speaker and raises the tweeter to the optimal seated ear-level height.

The Center Speaker

At Atlantic, we realize that 60-70% of the cinema experience is handled by this most important of speakers. The 6200e C recreates dialogue and on-screen effects with clarity and impact, just like in the best movie theaters. It features a driver array identical to the 6200e LR speakers, assuring ideal tonal matching across the front stage. In addition, a rocker base allows for precise aiming at the prime listening position for optimum coverage.

The special design of the 6200e C ensures wide, uniform horizontal dispersion throughout the listening area. By raising the tweeter above the centerline of the woofers, and then bringing the two woofers very close together, the 6200e C achieves very broad sound coverage without the picket-fence “hot-spot/cold spot” effect that plagues conventional center channel speakers.

The Surrounds

In a movie theater, the multiple pairs of surround speakers lining the sidewalls are designed to recreate a three- dimensional atmosphere. Our 4200e SR surround speaker is a perfect match for this system. The 4200e SR’s dipole design accurately reproduces this effect from just one pair of speakers. In addition, they can be conﬁgured to any program material by ﬂipping the switch from dipole to bipole operation, creating either an expansive acoustic effect for movies, or a more focused soundﬁeld for multichannel music.

Recommended Subwoofer

To complete the 6200e system, we recommend our THXapproved 642e SB powered subwoofer. This powerful unit, with its 300-watt ampliﬁer and 12-inch heavy-duty highexcursion woofer, can ﬁll virtually any room with explosive, muscular bass. For the smoothest in-room bass response (as well as achieving even highest bass sound pressure levels) consider using multiple subwoofers, placed asymmetrically in the room.
