Note: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy, and if not installed and used in accordance with the instruction manual, may cause interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:

MReorient or relocate the receiving antenna;

MIncrease the separation between the equipment and receiver;

MConnect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that which the receiver is connected;

MConsult the dealer or an experienced radio/television technician for help.

Overview

Faster, less troublesome, more efficient bus technologies, such as USB and IEEE 1394 (FireWire) are gradually replacing traditional ISA bus (serial, parallel) technology

In contrast to the ISA bus which does not offer the speed and connectivity required for today’s mass storage and large data transfer needs, the IEEE 1394 (FireWire) interface is valued for its ease of use, high speed data throughput, and chainability (up to 63 interface compliant devices can be connected together).

The IC-1394 3-Port IEEE 1394 PCI Card is a unique and elegant implementation of the FireWire Hub principle. Instead of taking up space on the desktop as a separate unit, it plugs into a PCI slot on the computer’s mainboard. In this way, the IC-1394 neatly and efficiently provides three IEEE 1394a compliant FireWire ports to computers that have no FireWire ports, or adds three ports to computers that already do.

Connecting external peripherals is as easy as plugging in cables. The hassle of having to open the computer in order to install complicated hardware and configure jumpers and switches has been eliminated.

Configuration is automatic - there is no need to specify memory addresses, IRQ assignments, device IDs, or to plug in terminators.

Hot swapping capability allows IEEE 1394-compliant peripherals to be added and removed seamlessly - without the need to shut the computer down. The card supports data transfer rates of 100, 200, and 400 Mbps (megabits per second), and automatically switches to the highest speed that the peripheral supports.

Features

MIEEE 1394, IEEE 1394a Compliant

MSupports transfer speeds of up to 100, 200, and 400 Mbps; Automatically Uses the Highest Speed the Peripheral Supports

MProvides 3 independent, fully functioning downstream ports

MSupports Hot Swapping

MInstalls inside the computer: saves space; allows for a neat and tidy work environment; no cable mess on the desktop

System Requirements

MWindows: Win98 SE / ME / 2000 / XP

MAn empty PCI slot on the system
