Resolve gigabit link problems at
the frontline without wasting
network engineer time
LinkRunner Duo LinkRunner Pro
The LinkRunnerTM Pro and Duo Network
Multimeters empower frontline network
professionals to detect and resolve a
broader range of today’s link connectivity
problems. They acknowledge that frontline
technicians need more power than ever to
resolve problems like gigabit link perfor-
mance, 802.1X security conflicts, and Power
over Ethernet service, before escalating to
higher levels.
Target users
Enterprise IT departments with desktop or
network technicians assigned to PC or LAN
device connectivity troubleshooting.
LinkRunner Pro and Duo advantages
The LinkRunner Pro and Duo are the only
link connectivity tools with the professional
capabilities today’s frontline techs need to
get their jobs done. Yesterday’s 10/100 link
tools are blind to more than half of today’s
most common problems. The LinkRunner Pro
and Duo give visibility to 90% of basic link
problems with gigabit negotiation, 802.1X
authentication, PoE verification, and CDP/
EDP/LLDP support. And if the LinkRunner
Pro or Duo can’t solve the problem, it will
generate comprehensive link status reports
to facilitate communication when routing
trouble tickets to higher levels.
Ping key devices
Verify 802.1X settings
Detect PoE service
Identify port (C/E/LLDP)
Test cable wiremap
Link status test reports
Establish link over fiber and
get indication of power based on
manufacturer’s SFP specifications
Measure response statistics of
DHCP, default router, DNS server,
and other key devices or URLs
Authenticate on 802.1X secured
networks; enter EAP type, user
name, certificates, and password
Verify availability, voltage level,
and pairs of Power over Ethernet
per IEEE 802.3af specifications
Identify nearest switch address,
slot, and port with Cisco,
Extreme, and IEEE Link Layer
Discovery Protocols
Test wiremap, length, and ID;
detect miswires, shorts, split
pairs or opens; measure distance
to faults with TDR
Save link, ping, PoE, security,
and cable test results in unit and
upload to PC with USB cable
Link over fiber connection
Quickly rule out key devices
or web servers as the cause of
PC user or device connectivity
problems
Eliminate time wasted on
guesswork; resolve 802.1X
conflicts and get users back
up and running fast
Consolidate power troubleshoot-
ing in the hands of network
technicians; eliminate the need
for help from facilities
Speed problem resolution by
precisely locating the nearest
switch port in seconds
Rule out cable wiremap as the
cause of link problems without
involving cabling contractors or
facilities personnel
Eliminate finger pointing
and redundant testing by
attaching objective
documentation to trouble
tickets in routing
