for Worldwide Use
International Testing
Products manufactured in one country are often used in another. And, though the utility line power may have similar characteristics, often the frequency and voltage available at the place of manufacture are completely different.
Traditionally, variacs or auto transformers are used for testing products aimed at international markets. This testing covered only different voltage conditions. With the increasing use of microprocessors and logic timing circuits however, products should also be tested at different line frequencies.
ISO 9000 Quality Requirements
Requirements of international quality standards such as ISO 9000 suggest that products should be tested as they are going to be used. These California Instruments supplies represent an new concept to meet the require-
ments of companies who need to test their products for use from nonstandard power. The portable, conveniently sized unit delivers a continuous 1000 VA of power. Operating efficiently from a single phase AC outlet, these products put the convenience of international power at any bench...in the laboratory, the test department, or in the field.
Five Standard Voltage Ranges
Output voltage of 100, 115, 220, 230 and 240 Volts are available to produce all standard world power options. A rear panel switch selects between one of the low voltages and one of the high voltages. The low voltage output is available from a USA Nema 5-15R duplex output. The high voltage output is available from the European CEE 7/7 outlet. This prevents the accidental application of high voltage to equipment configured for USA domestic use. Selection of either 100/
115 V or 220/230/240 V is via a conveniently accessible switch. Any combination of one high and one low voltage option is possible. The selected output voltage is indicated on the front panel. Outlets for other countries are available from the optional International Socket Strip.
50 and 60 Hz Output Frequency
The output frequency can be selected to be either 50 or 60 Hz, independent of the input frequency or output voltage. Testing of product for operation from a different line frequency without first having to design a new power supply or locate a step up or down transformer, is possible. This is especially important for products that rely on line power synchronization. The selected output frequency is also indicated on the front panel.
Simple, Easy to Use Limit Testing
With preset limits at ±10% of the output voltage selected, and ±3Hz of either 50 or 60 Hz, it is extremely easy to test products for operation over normal worst case conditions. The limit switches feature associated LED’s to indicate either the nominal or limit condition so that the output status is immediately clear.
Low Cost Of Ownership
Careful design, the use of modular construction and quality components, all contribute to provide you many years of uninterrupted service. The modular construction allows components or subassemblies to be replaced quickly to minimize downtime.
