France Restricted Wireless Frequency Bands
Some areas of France have a restricted frequency band. The worst case maximum authorized power indoors are:
10mW for the entire 2.4 GHz band (2400 MHz–2483.5 MHz)
100mW for frequencies between 2446.5 MHz and 2483.5 MHz
Channels 10 through 13 inclusive operate in the band 2446.6 MHz to 2483.5 MHz.
There are few possibilities for outdoor use: On private property or on the private property of public persons, use is subject to a preliminary authorization procedure by the Ministry of Defense, with maximum authorized power of 100mW in the 2446.5–2483.5 MHz band. Use outdoors on public property is not permitted.
In the departments listed below, for the entire 2.4 GHz band:

Safety information
Your EeeTop PC ET22 Series is designed and tested to meet the latest standards of safety for information technology equipment. However, to ensure your safety, it is important that you read the following safety instructions.
Setting up your system
• Read and follow all instructions in the documentation before you operate your system.
• Do not use this product near water or a heated source such as a radiator.
• Set up the system on a stable surface.
• Openings on the chassis are for ventilation. Do not block or cover these openings. Ensure that you leave plenty of space around the system for ventilation. Never insert objects of any kind into the ventilation openings.
• Use this product in environments with ambient temperatures between 0˚C and 40˚C.
• If you use an extension cord, ensure that the total ampere rating of the devices plugged into the extension cord does not exceed its ampere rating.
Care during use
• Do not walk on the power cord or allow anything to rest on it.
• Do not spill water or any other liquids on your system.
• When the system is turned off, a small amount of electrical current still flows. Always unplug all power, modem, and network cables from the power outlets before cleaning the system.
• The touch screen requires periodic cleaning to achieve the best touch sensitivity. Keep the screen clean from foreign objects or excessive dust accumulation. To clean the screen:
Turn off the system and disconnect the power cord from the wall.
Spray a small amount of a household glass cleaner onto the supplied cleaning cloth and gently wipe the screen surface.
Do not spray the cleaner directly on the screen.
Do not use an abrasive cleaner or a coarse cloth when cleaning the screen.
• If you encounter the following technical problems with the product, unplug the power cord and contact a qualified service technician or your retailer.
The power cord or plug is damaged.
Liquid has been spilled into the system.
The system does not function properly even if you follow the operating instructions.
The system was dropped or the cabinet is damaged.
The system performance changes.

The built-in microphone can be used for video conferencing, voice narrations, audio
recordings, and multimedia applications.

Allows you to adjust the angle of the display panel.

Kensington® Lock port
The Kensington® lock port allows the computer to be secured using Kensington®
compatible security products. These security products usually include a metal cable and lock that prevent the computer to be removed from a fixed object.

USB port
The Universal Serial Bus (USB) port is compatible with USB devices such as keyboards,
mouse devices, cameras, and hard disk drives.

Optical S/PDIF Out port
The optical S/PDIF Out port connects an external audio output device via an optical
S/PDIF cable.

Antenna Input (on selected models)
The antenna input is for TV or FM Radio (on selected models) frequency signal
and allows for use with the provided digital TV/FM antenna or input from subscription television services. The provided antenna can receive digital TV or FM radio. Cable service connection can receive digital TV, analog TV, or FM radio depending on paid services. Note: Use the provided adapter for use with coaxial connectors.

HDMI-In Port
HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is an uncompressed all-digital audio/
video interface between any audio/video source, such as a set-top box, DVD player, and A/V receiver and an audio and/or video monitor, such as a digital television (DTV).

LAN port
The eight-pin RJ-45 LAN port supports a standard Ethernet cable for connection to a
local network.

Power input (DC 19V)
The supplied power adapter converts AC power to DC power for use with this jack.
Power supplied through this jack supplies power to the PC. To prevent damage to the PC, always use the supplied power adapter.

Memory card reader
Normally an external memory card reader must be
purchased separately in order to read memory cards. This EeeTop PC has a built-in memory card reader that supports MMC/SD/SD HC/MS/MS Pro cards used in devices like digital cameras, MP3 players, mobile phones, and PDAs.
Headphone/Audio Out jack

The stereo headphone jack (3.5mm) is used to connect
the system’s audio out signal to amplified speakers or headphones. Using this jack automatically disables the built-in speakers.

Microphone jack
The microphone jack is designed to connect a
microphone used for video conferencing, voice narrations, or simple audio recordings.

Using the touch screen (on selected models)
EeeTop PC brings digital life to your fingertips. With a few touches or the use of the stylus pen, you can make EeeTop PC work at your command. Your touch functions like a mouse device:
• Touch = left-click on the mouse
• Touch and hold = right-click on the mouse
• The touch-enabled screen is available on selected models.

• The Stylus function is only available on selected models with touch-enabled screens.
Cleaning the touch screen
The touch screen requires periodic cleaning to achieve the best touch sensitivity. Keep the screen clean from foreign objects or excessive dust accumulation. To clean the screen:

Using the keyboard
Your EeeTop PC comes with a wired or wireless keyboard that facilitates your control of the system. For selected models, on the right side of the keyboard is an extra USB port, and on the left is where the stylus pen is stored. Press the stylus pen and it will eject.
• The following keyboard illustration is for reference only. Actual product specifications may vary with territories.
• The Stylus function is only available on selected models with touch-enabled screens.

Function keys
The following table defines the colored function keys on the keyboard. To access the colored commands, hold the Function key while pressing a key with a colored command.
The actual colored function keys and supported commands may vary with models.

Fn + F1: Places the system in suspend mode.
Fn + F2: Toggles the internal wireless LAN ON or OFF. When enabled, the
corresponding wireless LAN LED lights up. Windows® software settings are necessary to use the wireless LAN.
Fn + F5: Decreases the display brightness.
Fn + F6: Increases the display brightness.
Fn + F7: Toggles the LCD display ON and OFF.
Fn + F10: Toggles the speakers ON and OFF (only in Windows® OS).
Fn + F11: Decreases the speaker volume (only in Windows® OS).
Fn + F12: Increases the speaker volume (only in Windows® OS).
Fn + V: Toggles the built-in webcam ON and OFF.

Positioning your EeeTop PC
Placing on the desktop
Place your EeeTop PC on a flat surface such as a table or desk, and pull the stand open until itpull the stand open until it snaps in place. Then, tilt the display panel to an angle of between 12 and 27 degrees from an upright position.

Connecting the wired keyboard and mouse

Connecting the wireless keyboard and mouse
1. Install batteries to the wireless keyboard and mouse.
2. Push the buttons at the back of both the keyboard and mouse to connect with the EeeTop PC.
3. You can begin using the wireless keyboard and mouse.

Powering on the system
Connect the supplied AC adapter to the DC IN jack on the rear panel (1 2 3) and then press the Power switch on the front panel (4) to turn on the system.

WARNING! DO NOT connect the AC power cord to an AC outlet prior to connecting the DC plug to the system. Doing so may damage the AC-DC adapter.

Powering off
• To power off the LCD display, press the Fn + F7 key on the keyboard. The system is still running.
The colored key command is available on selected models.
• To put the system into suspend mode, press the Power switch on the front panel. To bring the system back to the OS, press the Power switch again, click the mouse, touch the display, or press any key on the keyboard.
• To shut down the system completely, follow the normal Windows shutdown process or press and hold the Power switch for five seconds.

Entering Red Flag Linux OS
Your EeeTop PC-Red Flag comes with the Red Flag Linux operating system (OS). To enter the OS, follow the instructions below:
1. Turn on your computer and the following
screen appears.
3. Enter “root” and press <Enter> to log in.
2. Wait for a few seconds to enter the login screen.
4. You have successfully entered the OS.

EeeTop PC ET22 Red Flag Linux OS Limitation
ASUS only ensures the software pack works normally and is optimized in ASUS model with genuine Windows operating system. Some functions of EeeTop PC may not be available to Red Flag Linux operating system.
Before Window OS installation
1. The touch panel cannot work.
2. <Fn> keys on the keyboard cannot work.
3. Mouse cannot work.
4. Internet cannot work.
5. LED lights do not work except for Menu LED light.
6. There’s no sound effect.
7. Card reader cannot work.
8. Live update functions, like Easy Update and ASUS Update, are not available.
After Window OS installation
1. The system environment is different from that of ASUS model with Windows operating system, including wallpaper, resolution, screen saver, DPI setting, font size, power setting, and sound effect and recording setting. And the icons on desktop are also different in numbers and layout.
2. SRS can work after you install the driver and reboot
3. The webcam of Eee Cam needs to be tuned by user.
The drivers and utilities in the EeeTop PC Support DVD only support Windows® 7 OS. If you install Windows Vista OS, download the drivers and utilities for Vista OS from the ASUS website at www.asus.com.

Installing Operating System
Preparing to install Windows® 7, Drivers and Utilities
Before installing Windows® 7 operating system to your EeeTop PC, you need the following items.
• The official Windows® 7 disc from Microsoft®
• EeeTop PC Support DVD
Installing
Follow the instructions below to install Windows® 7:
1. Insert the Windows 7 disc to the optical drive of your EeeTop PC.
2. Start the system and press <F2> on bootup until Eee Top is shown. Hold <Esc>.
3. The Please select boot device screen appears. Select ODD:XXXXXX (may be labled as the ODD brand name) to boot from the optical drive.

4. Select the Language to install, Time and currency format, and Keyboard or input method and click Next.
5. Click Install now to start installation.
6. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation process.
7. After the Windows® 7 OS installation is completed. Restart the system.

Installing
The drivers and utilities in the EeeTop PC Support DVD only support Windows 7 OS. If you install Windows Vista OS, download the drivers and utilities for Vista OS from the ASUS website at www.asus.com.
Follow the instructions below to install EeeTop PC drivers:
1. Insert the EeeTop PC Support DVD and the DVD automatically displays the Drivers menu if Autorun is enabled in your computer.
If Autorun is NOT enabled in your computer, browse the contents of the Support DVD to locate the file ASSETUP.EXE from the BIN folder. Double-click the ASSETUP.EXE file to run the DVD.
2. Click ASUS InstAll to install all the drivers.

2. Click Install drivers automatically from InstAll(recommended) and click OK.
3. When all the installations have been completed, click OK to restart the EeeTop PC.

Calibrating the screen
EeeTop PC comes with the following software tool that allows you to adjust touch screen precision.
The touch-enabled screen is available on selected models.
1. From the Windows® desktop, click Start > All Programs > Touch Panel Tool > Touch Panel Calibration.
