GENERAL INSTALLATION
1. If crated, carefully remove unit from the crate. The white protective adhesive material covering
the stainless steel should be removed after the unit has been installed.
2. Place the unit in its location ensuring that it is leveled properly so that the water can drain
properly from the water pan.
3. Leveling the unit is achieved by adjusting the bullet feet located at bottom of each leg C.
4. Direct electrical connection to the power supply F by a qualified licensed electrician is required.
5. Ensure that the plumbing is connected by a qualified licensed plumber. Water inlet is ½” NPT
that should be connected to hot water supply. Drain is 1 ½” NPT and should be connected to a direct drain.
6. Both, plumbing & electrical, services can be brought up to their points of connection through the
access space provided behind the bottom shelf of the cabinet base G.
MAINTENANCE AND CARE
1. We recommend that the customer sign a Preventative Maintenance contract with an local
authorized maintenance company for periodical inspection to ensure proper care of the water pan & heating elements and to be maintained, inspected and cleaned as often as the maintenance company suggests it should be, based on use and calcium build up on the elements.
2. Water pan cleaning: On a daily basis after use of the steam table, ensure that the thermostat D
is in the off position & that the pilot light is off, the water in the water pan A should be drained by pulling out the overflow pipe B from the drain. The water pan should be scrubbed with an abrasive pad to remove any soil that may have accumulated and rinsed clean.
3. Heating element cleaning: On a daily basis after use of the steam table, ensure that the
thermostat D is in the off position & that the pilot light is off, after emptying the water pan A completely, scrub the heating element E lightly with an abrasive pad to remove any calcium build up on the element and then rinsed clean.
4. Cleaning exterior and interior of unit: Normal soil on stainless steel can be removed by using a
liquid detergent soap and a damp cloth and should be wiped off in the direction of the grain in the stainless steel, NEVER RUB IN A CIRCULAR MOTION. The sani-clean cutting board should be removed and washed using a liquid soap and an abrasive pad.
Fulfilling these maintenance requirements will ensure an excellent running condition of your Astor Steam table and diminish service repair costs in the long term.
