Special notes on LCD monitors

Cleaning your monitor
Please carefully follow these guidelines when cleaning the monitor:
Always unplug the monitor before cleaning. Use a soft cloth to wipe the screen and cabinet front and sides.
Connecting/disconnecting the device
Observe the following guidelines when connecting and disconnecting power from the LCD monitor:
Make sure the monitor is attached to its base before connecting the power
cord to the AC power outlet.
Make sure both the LCD monitor and the computer are turned off before connecting any cable or unplugging the power cord.
If the system has multiple sources of power, disconnect power from the
system by unplugging all power cords from the power supplies.

To protect your hearing, follow these instructions.

Using electrical power
This product should be operated from the type of power indicated on the
marking label. If you are not sure of the type of power available, co your dealer or local power company.

Do not overload a power outlet, strip or receptacle by plugging in too

This product's power cord is equipped with a three-wire grounded plug.
The plug only fits in a grounded power outlet. Make sure the power outlet is properly grounded before inserting the power cord plug. Do not insert the plug into a non-grounded power outlet. Contact your electrician for details.
Warning! The grounding pin is a safety feature. Using a power outlet that is not properly grounded may result in electric shock and/or injury.
Note: The grounding pin also provides good protection from unexpected noise produced by other nearby electrical devices that may interfere with the performance of this product.
Use the product only with the supplied power supply cord set. If you need
to replace the power cord set, make sure that the new power cord meets the following requirements: detachable type, UL listed/CSA certified, type SPT-2, rated 7 A 125 V minimum, VDE approved or its equivalent, 4.5 meters (15 feet) maximum length.

Do not attempt to service this product yourself, as opening or removing covers may expose you to dangerous voltage points or other risks. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.
Unplug this product from the wall outlet and refer servicing to qualified service personnel when:
the power cord or plug is damaged, cut or frayed
liquid was spilled into the product
the product was exposed to rain or water
the product has been dropped or the case has been damaged
the product exhibits a distinct change in performance, indicating a need for service

Note: Adjust only those controls that are covered by the operating instructions, since improper adjustment of other controls may result in damage and will often require extensive work by a qualified technician to restore the product to normal condition.
Potentially explosive environments
Switch off your device in any area with a potentially explosive atmosphere and obey all signs and instructions. Potentially explosive atmospheres include areas where you would normally be advised to turn off your vehicle engine. Sparks in such areas could cause an explosion or fire resulting in bodily injury or even death. Switch off the device near gas pumps at service stations. Observe restrictions on the use of radio equipment in fuel depots, storage and distribution areas; chemical plants; or where blasting operations are in progress. Areas with a potentially explosive atmosphere are often, but not always, marked. They include below deck on boats, chemical transfer or storage facilities, vehicles using liquefied petroleum gas (such as propane or butane), and areas where the air contains chemicals or particles such as grain, dust or metal powders.

The LCD unit is produced with high-precision manufacturing techniques. Nevertheless, some pixels may occasionally misfire or appear as black or red dots. This has no effect on the recorded image and does not constitute a malfunction.

Tips and information for comfortable use
Computer users may complain of eyestrain and headaches after prolonged use. Users are also at risk of p computer. Long work periods, bad posture, poor work habits, stress, inadequate working conditions, personal health and other factors greatly increase the risk of physical injury.
Incorrect computer usage may lead to carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, tenosynovitis or other musculoskeletal disorders. The following symptoms may appear in the hands, wrists, arms, shoulders, neck or back:

REMOVING THE STAND ARM FOR WALL MOUNT
Note: Carefully place the monitor face-down on a stable surface -- use a cloth to avoid scratching the screen.
1. Loosen and remove the screws with a Phillips screwdriver, then lift and remove the stand arm.
Note: If installing with a wall mounting kit, it is recommended to use VESA mounting kit (100mm x 100mm) with M4 x 10 (L) mm screws to fix your monitor on the wall.
2. Your monitor is ready for wall mount.

In order to optimize the best viewing position, you can adjust the height/tilt of the monitor.
• Tilt Please see the illustration below for an example of the tilt range. Only at the highest point can 23 degrees of recline be offered for the angle of elevation.

Before rotating the display, lift it to the top position and then push it back to the utmost degree. Rotate until the monitor stops at 90°.
• Swivel With the built-in pedestal, you can swivel the monitor for the most comfortable viewing angle.

CONNECTING THE POWER CORD
Check first to make sure that the power cord you use is the correct type
required for your area.
This monitor has a universal power supply that allows operation in either
100/120V AC or 220/240 V AC voltage area. No user-adjustment is required.
Plug one end of the AC power cord to an AC inlet, and plug the other end
into an AC outlet.
For unit using at 120 V AC:
Use a UL Listed Cord Set, Type SVT wire and plug rated 10 A/125 V.
For unit using at 220/240 V AC (outside of U.S.):
Use a Cord Set consisting of H05VV-F cord and plug rated 10 A, 250 V. The cord set should have the appropriate safety approvals for the country in which the equipment will be installed.
SAFETY PRECAUTION
Avoid placing the monitor, or any other heavy object, on the power cord
to avoid damage to the cable.
Do not expose the monitor to rain, excessive moisture, or dust.Do not cover the ventilation slots or openings of the monitor. Always put
the monitor in a place where there is adequate ventilation.
Avoid placing the monitor against a bright background or where sun-light
or other light sources may reflect on the face of the monitor. Place the monitor just below eye level.
Handle with care when transporting the monitor.Refrain from giving shock or scratch to the screen, as screen is fragile.In order to prevent damage to the monitor, do not lift the monitor by its
base.
CLEANING YOUR MONITOR
Please carefully follow the below guidelines when cleaning the monitor.

THE LCD DISPLAY SCREEN OR CASE.
Acer will not be liable for damage resulting from use of any ammonia or
alcohol-based cleaners.

POWER SAVING
The monitor will be driven into “Power Saving” mode by the control signal from the display controller, as indicated by the amber-color power LED.

The power saving states will be kept until a control signal has been detected or the keyboard or mouse is activated. The recovery time from Active OFF state back to ON state is around 3 seconds.
DDC
To make your installation easier, the monitor is able to Plug and Play with your system if your system also supports DDC protocol. The DDC (Display Data Channel) is a communication protocol through which the monitor automatically informs the host system about its capabilities, for example, supported resolutions and corresponding timing. The monitor supports DDC2B standard.

Note: The DisplayPort of this monitor is purposely supporting the G-Sync compatible/Adaptive-Sync support technology. This technology allows Adaptive-Sync (DP) supported graphics source to dynamically adjust display refresh rate based on typical content frame rates in order to eliminate stuttering and enhance low-latency display.
Note: Overclocking may result in flicker or other adverse effects that may derive from the total configuration of the system connected to the display, and possibly, in addition, the display’s panel specifications. It may be possible to resolve or reduce such effects by setting a lower refresh rate.

To install the monitor to your host system, please follow the steps as given below: Steps
1. 1-1 Connect HDMI Cable (Only HDMI-input model) a. Make sure both the monitor and computer are powered-OFF. b. Connect the HDMI cable to the computer.

a. Make sure both the monitor and computer are powered-OFF. b. Connect the DP cable to the computer.
2. Insert the monitor power cable into the power port at the back of the
monitor.
3. Plug the power cords of your computer and your monitor into a nearby
electrical outlet.
4. Select Power-off USB charge ON/OFF to enable/disable Power-off USB
charge function. (Optional)
Note: Adjustment of the volume control as well as the equalizer to other settings than the center position may increase the ear-/ headphones output voltage and therefore the sound pressure level.

Adjusting the OSD settings
Note: The following content is for general reference only. Actual product specifications may vary.
The OSD (on-screen display) can be used for adjusting the settings of your LCD Monitor. Press the MENU key to open the OSD. You can use the OSD to adjust the picture quality, OSD position and general settings. For advanced settings, please refer to following page:
Main Page The default function for buttons 1 and 2 are Modes and Brightness. You can
use the Hot Key Assignment function to set these buttons to your preferred functions.

Turn Modes on or off From any function page, press to open the Modes control and select which
user-defined profile to use (please see the OSD section for more information).

Adjusting the Brightness Open the Brightness control and select the brightness setting using the Navi/
OK button. When you are done, press the Navi/OK button to exit.
Selecting the Input Open the Input control and select an available input source. When you are
done, press the Navi/OK button to go back one level.

Open the Function page to select a menu function, and adjust the settings which you want using the Navi/OK button. When you are done, press the Navi/OK button or to go back one level.
Adjusting the Picture
1. Press the MENU key to bring up the OSD.
2. Using the Navi/OK button, select Picture from the OSD. Then navigate to
the setting you wish to adjust.
3. Use the Navi/OK button to adjust the sliding scales.
4. Brightness: Adjust the brightness from 0 to 100.
Note: Adjusts the balance between light and dark shades.
5. Contrast: adjust the contrast from 0 to 100.
Note: Sets the degree of difference between light and dark areas.
6. Blue Light: filter out blue light by adjusting different Blue Light showing
ratio - 80%, 70%, 60%, 50%
Note: Higher values allow more blue light through. For the best protection, select a lower value.
7. Black Boost: This boosts the amplitude of the dark color levels of the
display– blacks will be less black. The higher the level, the higher the boost.

8. ACM: Turn ACM on or off. The default is off.
9. HDR: Turn HDR Off, Auto or HDR-600. The default is Off. Select Auto
enables this function to automatically detect and process HDR signal.
Note:
1. If HDR is “Auto”, then Modes is set to “HDR” automatically.
2. If HDR is “Auto”, certain parameters (ACM, Gamma, Contrast, Blue Light, Color Temperature, Black Boost, Grayscale Mode, 6­axis Hue, 6-axis Saturate, and VRB) are grayed out and disabled.
Note: With HDR enabled, full-array local dimming display may experience a blooming or haloing effect due to brighter zones affecting images of adjacent dark zones.
10. Super Sharpness technology can simulate high-resolution images by boosting the pixel density of the original source. It can make images sharper and clear.

Adjusting the Color
1. Press the MENU key to open the OSD.
2. Using the Navi/OK button, select Color from the OSD. Then navigate to the setting you wish to adjust.
3. Use the Navi/OK button to select the setting.
4. Gamma mode allows you to adjust the luminance tone. The default value is 2.2 (standard value for Windows).
5. Color temperature: Default is warm. You can choose Cool, Warm, Normal, Blue Light or User.
6. Modes: Select your preferred mode.

7. Color Space: You can choose Standard, SMPTE-C, DCI, EBU, HDR, Rec. 709 or sRGB.
Note:
1. If Color Space is “HDR”, then Modes is set to “HDR” automatically.
2. If Color Space is not “HDR”, then Modes is set to “Standard”.
8. Grayscale Mode: Turn grayscale mode On or Off.
9. 6-axis Hue: Adjust the red, green, blue, yellow, magenta and cyan hue.
10. 6-axis Saturate: Adjust the red, green, blue, yellow, magenta and cyan saturation.
Adjusting the Audio
1. Press the MENU key to open the OSD.
2. Using the Navi/OK button, select Audio from the OSD. Then navigate to the setting you wish to adjust.
3. Use the Navi/OK button to adjust any sliding scales.
4. Volume: Adjusts the volume.
5. Mute: Select On or Off.

Adjusting the Gaming
1. Press the MENU key to open the OSD.
2. Using the Navi/OK button, select Gaming from the OSD. Then navigate to the setting you wish to adjust.
3. Use the Navi/OK button to adjust any sliding scales.
4. Over Drive: Select Off, Normal, or Extreme.
Note:
1. If Adaptive-Sync is “ON”, then the Over Drive selection is set to “Normal” automatically
2. If Adaptive-Sync is “OFF”, then the user can set Over Drive to either one of the three settings including: (a) Extreme (b) Normal (c) Off
5. Adaptive-Sync: To control supporting Adaptive-Sync or not; the default is On.
Note: Adaptive-Sync provides artifact-free performance. It is compatible with both Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync technologies when used in combination with select Nvidia/AMD graphics cards.
6. Refresh Rate Num: Display the panel’s current refresh rate on the screen.
7. Ultra-Low Latency: Select On to speed up the processing time of the display switching process.
Note:
1. If Adaptive-Sync is “ON”, then the Ultra-Low Latency is automatically turned On and grayed out.
2. Ultra-Low Latency is not supported at resolutions below 800 x
600.

8. Aim Point: Show an Aim point on the screen for shooting games. Adjusting the OSD
1. Press the MENU key to open the OSD.
2. Using the Navi/OK button, select OSD from the OSD. Then navigate to the setting you wish to adjust.
3. Use the Navi/OK button to adjust any sliding scales.
4. Language: Set the OSD menu language.
5. OSD Timeout: Adjust the delay before turning the off the OSD menu.
6. Transparency: Select the transparency when using gaming mode. The transparency can be 0% (OFF), 20%, 40%, 60%, or 80%.
7. OSD Lock: OSD Lock function is used to prevent OSD button from being pressed accidentally. To remove the OSD Lock message, press and hold the Navi/OK button continuously for 3 seconds until the message disappears. If the OSD Lock message remains, please check whether the Navi/OK button is stuck.

2. Using the Navi/OK button, select System from the OSD. Then navigate to the setting you wish to adjust.
3. Use the Navi/OK button to select the setting.
4. Input: Select the source from an available input source.
5. Auto Source: Automatically searches for available input sources.
6. DP Format: You can select which DP format you are using. The default is set at DP1.4.
7. Hot Key Assignment: Select the function of Hot Key 1 or Hot Key 2.
8. Wide Mode: You can select which screen aspect you are using. The options are Full, Aspect and 1:1.

9. PIP/PBP: The options for PIP/PBP Mode are Off, PIP Large, PIP Small, and PBP. You can also adjust the PIP Position, PBP Size, Sub Source, Source Swap, and Audio Source.
10. DDC/CI: Allows the monitor settings to be set through the software on the PC.
Note: DDC/CI, short for Display Data Channel/Command Interface, which allows monitor controls to be sent via software.
11. HDMI Black Level: You can select the level of blackness under HDMI source. The options are Normal and Low.
12. Quick Start Mode: Enable monitor rapidly.
13. Power-off USB charge (Optional): Turn On or Off.
