Operating Instructions for CL24
CL24 is a battery operated LED lantern which gives excellent light output and a long operating time from the sealed lead/acid batteries within. There are two operating modes which have
1. high light output, and
2. a reduced output which extends the operating time The operating switch activates these modes by successively pressing the operating button. First press – Maximum output Second press – reduced output Third press - Off CL24 has a handle for carrying, which includes a pivoted hook to hang the lantern, and a compass for direction finding. It is recommended that the bat tery be charged before first using the lantern, to ensure that the battery is fully charged
Battery Charging Directions
The internal long life bat teries are ideally to be kept charged to preserve the battery capacit y and life. During periods of inactivity it is essential that the charging cycle be performed at least monthly to ensure that the lead/acid batteries do not permanently deteriorate due to internal chemical reactions.
Charging can be performed by either activation of the internal charging circuit from the mains power supply or from a 12V vehicle accessory outlet. Simply plug in the connector at the end of the Plug pack output lead, or the similar plug on the vehicle accessory lead, to the charging socket on the lantern. The charging socket is located beneath the operating switch. Note: the lantern cannot be operated when the charging cycle is being performed. There is an indication of “Charge in progress” by a red indicator located above the operating switch. When charging is complete this indicator will no longer be illuminated, and the lantern is again ready for use. When charging the batter y using the mains supply adaptor it is advisable to allow an overnight charging period. The mains adaptor will not overcharge the battery since it will automatically terminate charging when the battery is fully charged. Similarly the vehicle accessory lead can be connected to the lantern until the charge indicator is extinguished. With due care and regular charging your CL24 will give years of excellent service.
