Revision 4
INTRODUCTION
The UNIX cartridge holder is designed to hold a single VP Style cartridge for water
purification. The UNIX unit is modular in design to allow the customization or expansion of
the UNIX system. Multiple units can be used in series or parallel to achieve varying degrees of
water quality and flow rates.
The UNIX should be connected to a pressurized water supply between 5 psi and 30 psi. A
quick connect system allows cartridges to be changed without the use of tools.
The cartridge seal is made with a spring-loaded plunger assembly with o-ring seals. Best unit
performance is obtained when the cartridge is run down-flow. Purified water is dispensed
through the tube connected to bottom of the unit.
The UNIX holder comes with the o-rings and tube fittings factory installed. Tubing, a Shut
Valve, Inlet and Outlet Fittings, and Mounting Screws, are supplied with the unit. The inlet and
outlet connections must be installed by the user and cut to the desired length.
WARNINGS
1. Do not exceed a maximum pressure 30 psi.
2. Mounting wall must be able to support 25 pounds per unit.
3. Shut off valve must be installed on the inlet to the UNIX.
4. Shut off water supply at UNIX Inlet and de-pressurize unit before replacing cartridges
or servicing the unit.
5. Improper installation of the unit may case leaks.

NOTE: DETERMINE FLOW DIRECTION
For color changing cartridges and single bed applications, down flow is
recommended
Multi-layer cartridges are configured for upflow. For downflow layered
cartridges, contact the factory.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. Mount the UNIX to the wall using heavy-duty anchors rated for a minimum of 25
pounds.
2. Be sure the unit is straight and level. Improper leveling of the unit can cause poor
distribution and lead to shortened cartridge life.
UNIX Inlet Assembly
3. Connect the Inlet Fitting to ¼” Tubing, as shown above.
4. Connect the Shut Off Valve to the end of the ¼” Tubing.
5. Connect the supply tube to the other end of the Shut Off Valve.
6. Connect the Inlet Fitting to the UNIX Inlet.
NOTE: TIGHT, LEAK FREE, CONNECTIONS CAN EASLIY BE MADE
BY PUSHING THE TUBE FIRMLY IN TO THE FITTING.

7. Connect the remaining ¼” Tube to the Outlet Fitting as shown below.
UNIX Outlet Assembly
8. Connect the Outlet Fitting into the UNIX Outlet.
9. Install cartridge by placing the bottom of the cartridge on top of the plunger, making sure
the o-ring seats firmly into the inside diameter, and push down. Place the top of the
cartridge under the upper fitting and allow the cartrtidge to spring up and seal with the
upper o-ring. Rotate cartridge back and forth ½ turn to insure a good seal between with
the o-rings.
10. Open / Close the Shut Off Valve on the UNIX unit to Start / Stop water flow through the
cartridge. In case of a leak, shut off the water immediately and re-install cartridge.
