WARNING
This product contains chemicals, including lead, or otherwise produces chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects and other reproductive harm. Wash hands after handling. (California Health & Safety Code § 25249.5 et seq.)
DESCRIPTION
This handheld ignitor uses two small lead-acid batteries to supply a current surge sufficient to ignite both the 1/4" and 3/8" bare SLICE Cutting Rods. Two
copper contact points are mounted in the head of the cordless striker. Connect these two points to the batteries, using the rod as a bridge, to form the arc.
OPERATION
NOTE
Only bare SLICE rods can be used since they allow contact between both the upper and lower striker bar.
striker bar, close to the head housing assembly. Contact the lower striker bar to begin short circuit arcing and flip the sparking end of the rod away from the body of the igniter.
MAINTENANCE
As with any other tool the Cordless Striker requires certain items be maintained for the highest performance from the unit. Keeping the power cell charged allows you to get the most ignitions out of this unit. The power cell slowly loses a small amount of maximum charge when it sits idle for long periods of time so be sure to charge. Recharge the striker after any use, regardless of the number of rods.
Based on laboratory testing done at a room temperature of 72˚, the operator may perform the following approximate ignitions before recharging is necessary:
1/4" rod, approximately 100 ignitions;
3/8" rod, approximately 45 ignitions.
Lower or higher temperatures and the operator experience of proper striker use affect the overall number of ignitions achieved in a single charge.
To recharge, insert the ignitor into a receptacle on the recharging unit. A red light turns on to indicate the unit is charging. A green light illuminates when the ignitor is recharged and ready for use. The recharging unit can charge two ignitors at a time in less than four hours.
The lower striker bar acquires a build up of slag, ash, and dirt which needs to be removed periodically for best performance of power cell and increased overall life. When not in use, place the protective head cover on the striker ignitor to guard against accidental arcing between the striker bars.
NOTE
After time the lower striker bar becomes worn and needs replacing.
Ignite the cutting rod by placing it against the upper striker bar. Start the oxygen flow, then slide the rod towards the lower bar to make contact with the lower
