TOOL MAINTENANCE & REPAIR INFORMATION
Before use:
1. Fill the reservoir with air tool oil or 10W equivalent for 9 lb and 15 lb class. Use rock drill
oil for the 38 lb and 60 lb class tools.
2. Check all nuts and bolts to ensure they are tight on the tool.
3. Make sure retainer locks into place.
4. Replace retainer and springs if worn.
5. Rotate the chuck bushings to ensure that pawls are engaging.
6. Clean any water and/or dirt from air hose before connecting it to the tool.
During use:
1. Make sure feet are placed squarely on the work surface.
2. For your safety, and that of others, keep constant pressure on the drill bit at all times.
3. When moving from one work area to another, shut off tool.
4. To start drilling the hole, start off with a slower speed.
5. If the drill bit becomes stuck, or bound, shut off tool immediately.
6. Refill oil reservoir approximately every 2 hours.
After use:
1. Flush tool with cleaning solvent, then refill with air tool oil or 10W equivalent.
2. Do not leave tool in water or dirt.
3. Check all nuts to ensure they are tight on the tool.
If you experience loss of power in the tool:
1. Check side rod nuts to ensure they are tight on the tool.
2. Flush cleaning solvent through the tool and then refill immediately with air tool oil or
10W equivalent.

If the tool is blowing air and will not function:
1. Disassemble, check for broken piston or rifle bar, check the rifle nut condition.
2. Check valve system for worn parts, replace if necessary.

1. Immediately turn off the air source, then disconnect the air supply.
2. Disassemble back head and inspect the throttle valve, replace throttle valve if worn.

The APT Model 137 Rock Drill is a versatile midsize
Rock Drill used in general construction, utility work,
and plant maintenance. It is designed for drilling
through granite, hard faced rock, quarry drilling and
for drilling secondary holes for blasting. It can also
be used in conjunction with dowel hole drilling
machines. The Model 137 is adaptable to wet drilling
application by attaching the APT valve, wet tube and
swivel assembly.
