Installation Instructions for Areamaster™ 250/400 Stainless Steel Floodlight
FOR PROPER AND SAFE INSTALLATION OF THIS PRODUCT, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS.

• Integrally ballasted oodlights for 400 W or 250 W High-Pressure Sodium, Pulse-Start Metal Halide, and Metal Halide lamps.
• Powerful, efcient, weatherproof lighting for medium and large areas such as chemical plants, reneries, and shipboard/marine industrial process areas where severely corrosive agents are present.

Safety Instructions
This xture is designed for permanent installation in hazardous locations (as designated above) in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), and all applicable codes.
WARNING:
• Do not open or remove the xture while it is energized.
• Do not use this xture on ungrounded circuits. Failure to ground the xture can result in an electrical shock, which may be fatal.
• The lamp and xture operate at high temperatures. Do not use in areas of limited ventilation or in high ambient areas (above 40ºC).
• Contact with combustible materials can cause a re; personal contact can cause severe burns.
CAUTION:
• The xture should be installed by a qualied electrician.
• When installing in a hazardous location, it is necessary that the lens be in place and the unit be tightly closed.
NOTICE:
• The lens and xture should be cleaned periodically for high light output and cooler operating efciency.
• Latches have been permanently set for correct tension using a thread-locking compound at the factory—do not adjust.
Marine & Hazardous Locations
• Unit to be wired and installed using a wiring method suitable for Class I, Division 2 hazardous locations in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) NFPA 70 or Canadian Electrical Code (CEC).
• Where exible cord is used, it should be approved for extra hard wet location usage and shall have a separate grounding conductor.

TRUNNION BRACKET
The Areamaster 250/400 with trunnion will mount directly on at surfaces. The trunnion has a center clearance hole for a 1/2 inch bolt and two 3/8 inch clearance holes spaced 3-1/2 inches apart on the trunnion center line.

Wiring the Unit
For new installations, the Areamaster 250/400 can be easily wired without removing the ballast tray. Simply ensure that the wiring leads entering the xture are long enough to feed up through the wiring tube, with an extra 6 inches (sheath stripped off) available for wire connections. Please follow the instructions listed below.
WARNING: Disconnect power before doing any wiring. Install in accordance with all national and local codes.
1. Route entrance wiring through the threaded adaptor on the bottom of the unit. The internal wiring tube will guide the wires up and behind the installed ballast tray.
2. With pliers, pull the supply wires to the front of the unit for connection.
3. Connect the incoming supply wire to the correct voltage lead from the ballast. NOTE: Ensure all other leads remain capped.
4. Connect the neutral supply lead to the neutral common from the ballast.
5. Connect the ground to the green lead from the ballast.
6. Bundle the wires together and push them back into the housing.

Removing the Tray
The ballast tray can be easily removed for maintenance situations. Please follow the instructions listed below.
WARNING: Disconnect the xture from the supply circuit before removing or opening to service. Keep the xture tightly closed
when in operation.
1. Remove the lamp.
2. Loosen the two socket alignment screws and push the bracket away from the divider plate, past the “NA” mark on the tray.
3. Remove the three tray screws. Use a screwdriver to lift the edge of the ballast tray and slowly work the tray out of the housing.
4. Reverse the procedure to reinstall the ballast tray. When installing, ensure that the tabs at the top of the ballast tray are located in
the two slots of the divider plate.
5. Reposition the lamp socket bracket to its original position. Align the two socket alignment screws with the corresponding letter on the ballast tray. Use Table 1 as a guide.

Lens Replacement
If any damage to the lens occurs, the entire door assembly must be replaced with part number 609022001. The following tools are required: (1) hammer, (1) 3/32 inch bi-pin punch, and (1) pliers. Please following the instructions listed below.
Removing the Door
1. Open the door 180 degrees from the closed position.
2. Place the 3/32 inch bi-pin punch on the end of the hinge pin and use a hammer to tap the pin as far out of the hinge as possible.
3. Use pliers to pull the pin out.
Replacing the Door
1. Place the door in the open position (180 degrees from the closed position) and line up the hinge sections.
2. Put the pin into the hinge from the top of the xture and tap the pin through the hinge with a hammer.
