Installation and Operation
Plug the SurgeArrest into a grounded outlet only.
V erify that equipment is functioning properly prior to connecting to the SurgeArrest.
Connect equipment into the SurgeArrest Outlets.
Always On outlets-PL8VT3 models provide power to connected equipment when the S ur geArrest is turned on or off.
PLC Compatible Always On outlet-Connect PLC network adapter to the SurgeArrest outlet labeled PLC.
Data Line Surge Protection Connectors PL8VT3 models
• Telephone p rotection connectors-provide protection for telephone, FAX machine, or modem from power surges that travel over
phone lines.
• Connect a standar d telephone cable from the wall tel e phone connector to the surge connector labeled .
• Connect one end of a standard telephone cable to the surge connector labeled and the other end to a FAX machine or modem.
• Connect one en d of a standard teleph one cable to the sur ge connector la beled and the other end to a telephone.
• Coaxia l prote ct io n con nec tor-Coaxial protection connectors provide protection for a A/V systems and cable modems from
power surges that travel over coax lines. Connect one end of a coaxial cable to the coaxial sur ge connector labeled and the
other end to a television cable box, VCR/DVD, television, or modem.
Overload-PL8VT3 models have an LED labeled . If this LED illuminates disconnect equipment one device at a time, until the LED extinguishes.
Protection Working-GB models have an LED label ed 13A 250V~ . All other models have an LED la be led 10 A 250V~.The LED is illuminated during normal
operation indicating that the SurgeArrest is on and ready to protect connected equipment. If the LED is not illuminated during normal operation the surge suppression
circuitry has been compromised. Contact APC using the contact information provided in this guide.
Grounding OK -FR/DE models, the LED is normally illuminated green indicating that the power is on and the outlet is properly grounded. No illumination of the
LED indicates there is a problem with building wiring. Discontinue use and have a qualified electrician check the wiring in the building.
Building Wiring Fault -GB models, the LED illuminates if a building wiring fault exists. Discontinue use and have a qualified electrician check the wiring in the
building.
Cord Strain Relief-The strain relief allows 180°, top to bottom cord rotation.

APC® by Schneider Electric warrants its products to be free from defe cts in materials and workmanship un der normal use an d s e r vice for
the lifet ime of the p r oduct (in Ger many, 20 years from the date of purchase). For units purch as ed and/or used in cou ntries not belonging to
the European Community, the warranty period is 5 years from the date of purchase. The APC obligation under this warranty is limited to
repairing or replacing, at i ts sole option, any such defecti ve products. To obtai n s e rvice under warr a nty you must obtain a Returned
Material Authorization (RMA) number from APC or an APC Service C enter with tran s portation charges prepaid and must be
accompanied by a br ief description of the problem and proof of date and place of purchase. This warranty applies only to the original
purchaser.
