1.2 The Features Of This Manual

In this brochure, you'll be able to learn how to:
set up a personal computer on your own.
correctly and safely put everything together and get some ideas about hardware.
learn some practical techniques that make doing the job easier.
In addition, this manual DOES NOT offer you:
any sorts of back doors, such as overclocking.
a great deal of hardware standard that are hard to comprehend.
lengthy fanciful article or vague theories.
Instead, this manual explains profound theories in simple language by colorful illustrations. Therefore, you will see the icons below frequently:

1.3 Preliminary Tools

"A workman must first sharpen his tools if he is to do his work well". Right before you start the assembly, there are some tools that can't be spared.
Firstly, the most frquently-used too is cross screwdriver by which most interior componets are fixed. A suitable screwdriver can make the following job much easier. Being so, does any screwdriver apply? Actually a magnetic tip one is suggested. That is because in the process of setting up your PC, the situation is very likely to happen: you accidentally drop the screws into the interior of the computer. In case of this, a magnetic screwdriver helps attracting the fallen screws that are hard to reach by hands. Some screw holes are placed where hands can hardly reach. At this time, we need a magnetic screwdriver, too. In addition, the size of our tool also matters. Generally, the
domestic 107 cross screwdriver
I can get it done!!
When putting things together, it is necessary to adjust Jumper. In most cases, things can be done barehanded. But there comes a time always when your hands fail to reach in and fix the problem. You'll thank God with a pliers on hand which keeps you away from any annoying trouble for just setting one JUMPER.
is the most appropriate one.
What is Jumper?
Jumper is something generally referred to " Jumping wire" that utilizes the short circuit o the pins to tune up some functions, such as FSB (front side bus), ratio, and sound switches adjusting.

2.2 Check Accessories

Opening the housing, you are supposed to see the following accessories:
Power cord: Connects the power of computer.
Power cords are various in different countries. Please use a proper power cord according to you country.
Fixed screws: After opening the accessory parcel, you'll see the following three
different types of screws:
Are power cords all the same?

2.3 Set Up I/O Back-panel
The H300 housing series are equipped with all-purpose I/O back-panel. You can break through the openings according to your personal needs. If your motherboard comes with built-in sound effects or network functions, then you may need more openings to connect to external speakers and network connection.
Check I/O connector ports on the motherboard with your housing and decide
which openings you need to break through.
If there is a built-in network card on the motherboard, then you need to brea through this iron plate.
If there is only a built-in sound device, then you need to break though these two iron plates.

Use a tool to break the iron plate on the I/O back-panel.
As shown in the picture, use a tool to tear down the iron plate by twisting it several times.
Be careful when twisting!!
When breaking iron plates, it is wise to use a pliers to avoid cutting yourself. If you fail to have a pliers on hand, pad a piece of cloth on you palm while doing it.

2.4 Set Up Hard Disk

In the structure of personal computer, hard disk is the place where most of the data is stored. Therefore, it is one of the most important components in personal computer. This section will introduce you the knowledge of hard disk and some important tips while setting it up.
Get to know hard disk
Taking out the hard disk from the parcel, you will see the following equipments:
Adjust the Jumpers on your hard disk
Jumper configurations
As mentioned, we assume you know the definition of Jumpers. The setting of Jumpers in IDE
hard disk is necessary for a computer to distinguish various devices connected on the same cable. In general, we normally set hard disk to "Master", indicating the first device of the cable; then we set CD-ROM to "Slave", meaning the second device of the cable. The settings of the Jumpers are marked on the tag attached to the surface of the hard disk or are mentioned in its handbook. Here, we only set up one hard disk, so that means the jumper has to be set as "Master."

Connect IDE cable
It would be easier to carry out the procedure if the IDE cable is properly plugged before locking up the hard disk to the frame. You can distinguish IDE cable from left and right. Normally, a standard cable has a foolproof device, which is a small salient on the cable, and a small dent in the socket. Just aim the salient at the dent and then plug it in.
The first pin is close to power connector.
What if there is no foolproof device
Lock the hard disk in the frame
on the cable?
If you happen to have a cable without foolproof design, just remember that the first pin is next to the red line and it would be safe to locate the first pin close to the power cord
Use a cross screwdriver to disassemble the hard disk frame from the housing in order to easily lock the hard disk. After loosing screws, lift the hard disk frame and push it to the direction where arrow shows to draw it out.

In fact, hard disk is a very fragile and delicate device though it's covered with robust metal. During the process, any slight vibration may damage it. Hence, be sure to get it locked in the fixed frame securely.
Don't mess up screws!!
Pack the fixed frame back to the housing
Put the hard disk frame back to the housing and lock it securely to complete this step. It's pretty simple: Just aim two tenons on the fixed frame at the housing and push it to the opposite direction.
Generally there are special screws for hard dis in the parcel when you buy a new hard disk. There will be no harm done using those screws. If no screws are attached, use those packed in the accessory parcel. Make sure to use the NO2 screws.

2.5 Set Up Motherboard
In frame and place the motherboard in the correct position. Finally, tighten the screws. Please follow the steps below:
AOpen Slim PC H300
Read the handbook of the motherboard and adjust the settings of Jumper
Currently most of the motherboards have a Jumper-free design (Jumperless design). Even so, there are still some other functions that need to be adjusted through Jumper. Please refer to the handbook of motherboard and adjust the settings of Jumper according to your personal requirements.
Please refer to the motherboard handboo to adjust the settings o Jumper according to your needs
series, it's very easy to set up a motherboard. Just lift the hard disk
Level the motherboard at the opening of the back panel and plug it in the
housing at angle of 45 degrees.

Tighten screws
Place some fixed copper bars at the base of the housing for screws tightening. Let's take a look at their positions:
Just tighten the screws respectively. Here we use screws NO1.
How tight should we screw?
Tighten the screws moderately. Tightening screws too hard may cause motherboard damage.

2.6 Set Up CPU

When setting up CPU, please don't go wrong with the direction of CPU. It is very easy to
distinguish its direction. First of all, let's have a look at what CPU is like:
As shown in the picture, it's FC-PGA CPU of Intel Pentium III, which is the so-called Socket370 CPU. There are still many other varieties of CPU available on the market. Please pay attention to the model when you buy one. It should be consistent with your motherboard. What we introduce here is Intel’s Pentium III. All models have a similar set-up.

Pull outward the rod beside the CPU socket and pull it upward vertically

Aim the arrow mark on CPU at the first pin in the socket
Don’t worry!! CPU socket also has fool-proof device.
You may find the pin arrangement at four corners of CPU are different. Two of them have a bevel-angle which is for fool-proof purpose. As long as you don't insert it too hard, the CPU is unable to be located into the socket if it is wrongly placed!
After CPU is located in the socket, pull down the rod and click to the tenon.
Beware of CPU pins!
When setting up CPU, please be careful not to crook the pins or CPU can't be properl located into the socket!
