Antelope Audio Edge Duo Dual-Diaphragm Multi-Pattern Modeling Microphone Antelope Audio Edge Duo User Manual

1. Introduction
Edge Duo is a modelling microphone by Antelope Audio, suited for the manufacturer’s real-time mic preamp modelling.
Combined with the already highly acclaimed Antelope Audio FPGA Vintage Compressors & EQs, this new modelling
microphone will comprise a true cutting-edge front end that will usher in a new era for modern recording.
and character of expensive classic microphones. Antelope founder Igor Levin designed the ground-breaking, fully
discrete electronics. The hand-selected capsules are encased in a carefully crafted enclosure with contours and shape
response and capable of multiple polar patterns.

2. Safety Notes
Phantom power – ensure phantom power supply is 48V.
3. Connecting Edge Duo
Edge Duo comes with an Y-XLR cable. Each of the 3-pin XLR cable ends convey the signal from the Front & Back
membranes of the microphone.
In order to use the microphone with the Antelope Audio Mic Emulations, you need to connect both cables to
neighbouring mic preamps on your Antelope Audio Interface.
Phantom power is required on both channels (Red & White cables).
Edge Duo can be used in mono as a standard cardioid mic. However, using it as such, you won’t be able to use the
Antelope Audio FPGA Mic Modelling system.

The device will restart and your new Mic Emulations will be available.
5. Load a Mic Emulation in your Antelope Audio Interface.
Open the interface Control Panel and click on the little settings icon on the preamp gain control.
To have access to the mic settings, the input should be in Mic mode.

Note: 48V Phantom power will be automatically enabled.
The following controls are available on the pop-up window once you choose the Edge Duo:
5 of 13
Phase invert – allows you to invert the polar pattern of the signal in the selected Mic input.
!!
Phantom power switch – by default switched on when you’re loading a Mic Emulation in the Antelope Audio interface
Control Panel.
6 of 13
Mode switch – allows you to switch between Verge, Edge types or turn the emulation o.
Channel swap – this function is exclusive to Edge Duo, since it uses two inputs. It allows you to switch the channel order
F-B (L-R) or B-F (R-L).

Emulation select – here you can choose the exact model of the mic you wish to emulate.
8 of 13
Pattern selector – only active if the microphone has multiple patterns.
6. Recording
In order to record the emulated signal, you must choose the following routing scheme.
For Discrete 4/8:
9 of 13
!Choose EMU MIC with the corresponding channels for the mic inputs. This way you will record the processed signal with
the loaded emulation. You can also choose a mix on emulated and dry preamp signal, with a combination of a couple of
channels (Emu and Preamp).
Zen Tour, Orion Studio 2017, Goliath, Goliath HD
Inside the routing tab, there is a strip: Emulated Mic, which corresponds to the physical inputs where you can connect the
mic.
In order to record the emulations, just drag and drop the channels you are using from the Emulated Mic strip, to the
Record strip (dependent on the type of communication – USB or Thunderbolt).
Again, you can record dry and wet signal with a combination of the Emulated mic channels and the physical input
channels.
