MORE THAN TECHNOLOGY
Foreword
You are about to choose an environmental test chamber that will meet your test requirements. Technically perfect, equipped with long-life silent compressors, it guarantees years of trouble-free, reliable performance. Perhaps you already possess one or several chambers that are working fine, but you may have complained about excessive noise, bad humidity control and condensation, slow temperature/humidity variations, unbalanced air distribution inside the chamber, complicated programming systems. These can be the results of a hurried, somewhat superficial choice. So now take your time and let us introduce to you the 3
rd
generation of HYGROS
®
chambers and the new CHALLENGE MY05 series chambers. We believe that they will turn out to be a valuable investment over time and will help you to carry out repeatable, comparable environmental tests.
How to choose an environmental test chamber
There are several factors influencing the choice of a good chamber: standard manufacturing processes allow-
ing short-term deliveries
hermetically-sealed, silent compressors
using ecologically friendly refrigerants
air temperature variation and quick adap-
tation of specimens to it
innovative design, whose impact is particu-
larly important in modern laboratories
a wide range of accessories, both optional
and standard
friendly, flexible, up-to-date control and
management systems.

chambers
After analysing the factors determining the choice of a good chamber, try and identify among the new HYGROS
®
and CHALLENGE MY05 chambers (59 models for every family!) the one that best suits your test needs. HYGROS
®
and CHALLENGE MY05 chambers have been actually designed and produced to fulfil all your expectations ...and possibly more.
Why
We have been manufacturing cooling equipment since 1932. We have been producing environmental test chambers since 1952 and our export - more than 80% of our total production - places us among the largest manufacturers in Europe. In addition, we are among the three world leading companies in the field of space simulators (working down to 10°K, that is down to –263°C!). The acquired ‘know-how’ has helped us to achieve important goals throughout the years and today our staff and ideas are perfectly tuned to customers’ needs. More than 600 employees working in 7 production and commercial units are constantly studying the right solutions, developing new ecological, smart, innovative-design test equipment for you. With the future in mind.

AND CHALLENGE MY05 CHAMBERS:
B
ORN UNDER THE SIGN OF TOT AL QUALITY
All HYGROS®and CHALLENGE MY05
chambers are manufactured following the
principles of Total Quality , according to the
ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.
HYGROS®and CHALLENGE MY05 chambers:
environmental protection
Our refrigeration systems only use those refrigerants that have not been forbidden by the Convention of Montreal and by the London and Copenhagen amendments (R404 a, R23). New-concept CFC-free polyurethane foam has been used for thermal insulation since it ensures, unlike glass wool, stable performance over time. All connections and welding in the refrigeration systems have been carefully checked by means of helium leak detectors (mass spectrometers) to ensure perfect seal.

1 Heated inspection window: a fully-
transparent double heating film allows the test compartment to be easily and clearly inspected and prevents condensation from forming on the glass (optional on CH).
2 Control system: consists of a µPLC and PC
interface with Kratos SW (Hygros) or touch panel (Challenge). In 5 languages (Italian, English, French, German, Spanish), it allows a perfect interaction between the equipment and the user.
3 Double ceiling: prevents any condensation
drop from falling onto the specimen.
4 Dehumidifier: operates down to –20°C dew
point.
5Centrifugal fan: reaction-type , it allo ws a
better distribution of air and helps specimens adapt to temperature variations.
6 Interfaces: RS232 or RS422.
7 No. 6 analog inputs + no. 4 inputs for PT100
probes (Hygros).
8 Digital min./max. thermostat: in case of
malfunctioning, the specimens under test may be disconnected.
9 Humidity: open/close circuit for
humidification water complete with mechanical filter.
10 Wheels: they allow the chamber to be easily
moved
11 Rounded corners: they allow a better
drainage of condensation drops and easier cleaning.
12 Water tank:for the humidification system, it
is accessible by simply opening the lower door of the chamber.
13 Humidification system:it is fed with normal
running water.Dry-vapour-type double generator to prevent condensation from forming onto specimens.
14 Double pump:it allows the recycling of the
water needed by the humidification system. It is equipped with a protection device in case of water shortage.
15 Innovative design in two different colours:
standard RAL 5015 and RAL 7035.
16 Double floor:it improves the distribution of
air inside the chamber.
17 Front panel in plastic material: to reduce
the chamber weight and to ensure better endurance to corrosive agents.
18 New soft touch locking system 19 Orientable control panel 20 NEW ! - Internal coating: stainless steel,

The new range of climatic chambers (temperature and humidity control) and thermostatic chambers (temperature control only, marked with the suffix T) offers 66 (sixtysix) basic models whose nominal capacity varies from 16 to 2000 litres.
These chambers may be divided into two families: HYGROS
®
(H) and CHALLENGE MY05 (CH) chambers, both available in the following versions: with single-stage compressors (–40°C minT) and with cascade compressors (suffix C, –75°C minT). The two models basically differ according to the user’ s interface:
• equipped with PC with front monitor for
HYGROS
®
chambers;
• touch panel for CHALLENGE MY05 cham-
bers.
Control and management system:
µPLC-based, it allows chambers to be managed completely through analogue and digital interfaces.
Chamber lining:
stainless steel with vapour-proof welding (all models).
Drip cap:
invisibly placed under the door, it is extremely efficient.
80mm port hole:
available on all models.
Noise reduction system:
installed in the machine compartment, it reduces the chamber noise (59 to 68 dB according to the compressors size). Further noise reduction may be provided upon request.
Double ceiling and double floor:
they allow a better air distribution inside the chamber avoiding condensation or dripping over the specimen.
Air treatment system:
it ensures a precise control of the climatic parameters inside the chamber with minimal thermal inertia; a powerful reaction-type fan allows rapid temperature variations of both air and specimen.
Refrigeration system:
simple and reliable, it ensures optimum thermodynamic performances at any temperature.
Network connection:
several chambers may be connected to a master PC for both local and remote centralised supervision, storage of test cycles and data logging.
Structure:
the equipment modularity allows easy servicing and upgrades.
Ergonomics:
it allows easy access to the chamber wherever placed; the control interface is mounted on the front panel; the water tank is easily filled from the lower front panel.
Design:
all protrusions have been carefully eliminated in order not to break the purity of the chamber style.

Humidification system (climatic version):
it offers two great advantages:
• correct functioning without the need of distilled or demineralised water;
• the use of ‘dry’ vapour in order to avoid condensation on the specimens and to reproduce real environmental conditions.
Humidity control (climatic version): the
principle of the Assman psychometer (dry bulb - wet bulb) was applied to allow the microprocessor to correctly determine relative humidity and setting parameters. For low-humidity continuous tests, a control system equipped with a capacitive probe is also available.
*For temperature only versions
(without R.H. control) add the suffix T . Example: H250 T (–40/+180°C) with 224 litres capacity; H1200 TC (–75/+180°C) with 1152 litres capacity
Without wheels (when wheels
are mounted, from 50 mm to 70 mm must be added to the chamber height)
In compliance with
