Prior to Start of Any On-Site Preparations
All site preparations must be completed prior to the delivery of the panel wall units. Please contact Amico to conrm and
review all information listed below. Failure to do so may result in discrepancies/misalignments during installation.
a. Wall Rough opening dimension, see Figure 1.
b. Stud gauge and size.
c. Wall thickness (e.g. including drywall and any additional paneling mounted on the nished wall).
d. Rough-in locations.
e. Blocking locations, if applicable.
f. Shipping restrictions.
NOTE: Ceiling grid must be installed after the middle section is installed and the rails are attached to the
units.
IMPORTANT: ALL ABOVE INFORMATION MUST BE COORDINATED, CONFIRMED AND APPROVED WITH
AMICO PRIOR TO ANY ON-SITE PREPARATION IN THE AREA WHERE THE HEADWALL WILL BE INSTALLED.

Preparation After Unit’s Arrival
1. Each panel wall will be delivered in multiple sections, see Figure 2 for reference. Review the approved projectspecic AS BUILT drawings for exact number of sections applicable to your installation. All panel wall sections and
panels are labeled with the room number and orientation within the frame for ease of installation.
2. Sections called “Drywall Mount” are installed on the nished wall, after walls are painted.
3. Sections called “Recessed Mount” are installed to the wall structure. Packaging/support material should be
removed carefully when unpacking.
4. Find the top and bottom spacer plates provided with the units and have them handy once you are ready to start
the installation. The spacer plates are labeled and must be used when installing the recessed sections. See Detail A, B and C for overview and installation of the spacer plates.
5. Vertical rails, end caps, laminate strips and necessary hardware are packed separately to be installed after the
drywall installation. Please do not discard.

Installing Left and Right Headwall Sections (Recessed Mount)
IMPORTANT: DURING THIS INSTALLATION, DO NOT REMOVE THE PROTECTIVE FILM PROVIDED ON THE
UNITS.
1. Locate and mark the bed center line.
2. Place the left headwall into the building tracks and hold it in place.
3. Place the right headwall into the building tracks and hold it in place.
• Use the dimensions from the nal AS BUILT drawings as a GUIDE only when spacing the two units. Check the
nal AS BUILT drawings for this measurement. (See Figure 3)
4. Shoot a laser line along the bottom of both units. Locate the higher sitting unit and level using shims as needed.
5. Slot in building studs between the locations on the spacer plates.
6. Install the spacer plates provided. See steps below for the spacer plate set up/install:
• Insert the top and bottom spacer plates as shown in Figure 4 and Detail D.
• Slide and lock in place using the existing grooves.
Note: SPACER PLATES WILL ENSURE THE CORRECT SPACING BETWEEN THE HEADWALL UNITS.
• Secure the spacer plates to the studs by using the existing holes.
• The units are now ready to be attached to the building structure.
• Secure the two headwalls to the building structure utilizing hardware and method approved for use according
to local building codes.
• Proceed with electrical and medical gas connections to the main source.

Install the Drywall
1. Install the drywall according to local building codes. Avoid applying drywall compound (mud) around the
aluminum support rail.
2. Paint the wall as required.
Install the Middle Section (Drywall Mount)
1. Reveals and matching parts are color-coded for easy identication.
2. Use quick clamps to hold the two headwalls tightly together.
3. Secure the top, middle and bottom reveals through the holes provided. See Detail E.
4. Ensure that all reveals on the middle section line up with the reveals on each atwall. See Figure 5.

REMOVE THE PROTECTIVE FILM PROVIDED ON THE UNITS PRIOR TO THIS STEP OF INSTALLATION.
Install The Panels, Rails and Laminate Strips
1. Remove the inner accessory rail by removing the screws. ONE SIDE ONLY
2. Place all the panels in the frame using the lift and drop method.
3. Reinstall the inner accessory rail.
4. Slide the laminate strip into all rails, with the nished side facing out. (See Figure 6 and Detail F).
5. Install top and bottom end plates.
