EN 60950 (CE)
FCC COMPLIANCE: This equipment complies with Part 15 of the
FCC rules for intentional radiators and Class A digital devices when
installed and used in accordance with the instruction manual.
Following these rules provides reasonable protection against harmful
interference from equipment operated in a commercial area. This
equipment should not be installed in a residential area as it can radiate
radio frequency energy that could interfere with radio
communications, a situation the user would have to fix at their own
expense.
EQUIPMENT MODIFICATION CAUTION: Equipment changes
or modifications not expressly approved by Sensormatic Electronics
Corporation, the party responsible for FCC compliance, could void the
user's authority to operate the equipment and could create a hazardous
condition.
WARNING! North America power requirements: In North America,
this device is intended to be supplied from a Class 2 power supply.
This installation should be made by a qualified service person and
should conform to all local codes.
the EU, it is intended to be powered from a Limited Power Source. A
limited power source is a certified source of SELV, and if inherently
limited, with 8 amps maximum output current, and a maximum of
100VA available; or if not inherently limited, fused with a maximum
value of 3.3 Amps, meeting section 2.11 of IEC950, and a maximum
of 250VA available. The power supply can be obtained through
American Dynamics or through another source where the provider can
furnish the verification. This is required to assure electrical safety in
the product.
Stromanforderungen in der EU: Dieses Produkt wird mit 24 V
Wechselstrom betrieben.
erforderlich.

Troubleshooting
The converter's front-panel LEDs indicate when
activity occurs during operation. They also identify
many errors that could occur:
422 LED on
steadily
(noise) LED
flashes randomly
485 LED off No SensorNet protocol detected.
∼ LED Off
µP LED flashes
rapidly
ROM checksum or RAM
read/write failure. Reload
software from host.
Indicates SensorNet
transmission errors.
No power.
Code converter in loopback test.
Addendums
Addendum A:
Performing a SensorNet Ping Test on a
Dome Camera
To conduct a ping test from the controller to a
dome, select the dome camera and run the test
(described in the appropriate operator manual).
Note:
- Address selected at the controller determines
the dome camera tested.
- Dome address switch settings must be correct.
- The code converter responds to pings if the
dome is responding.
- If the code converter is selected, only the
communication line from the controller to the
converter is tested.
- For how to get dome information and to conduct
the ping test from the controller, refer to
ADTT16E (8200-0306-02) and VM16 (80002653-01) operation instructions. For just the
ping test, refer to MegaPower LT operation
instructions (MP-LTHB-1).
Note: If a controller requests device information
from a camera having the same address as the
converter, the controller receives configuration
information from the converter instead of the dome.
Addendum B:
Performing an RS-422 Line Test
For each RS-422 port: Press and hold the port’s
line status test switch and view the adjacent LED.
The LED lights as follows:
Constant green,
Blinking red

or open.
Addendum C:
Resetting the Code Converter
If communications cease, press the reset switch on
the front panel using a paper clip. If that fails, try
recycling power.
Addendum D:
Performing anRS-422 Loopback Test
1. Disconnect data lines from all seven RS-422
connectors.
2. Wire each connector’s pins as follows:
Pin 1 white wire (RX+) loops to Pin 3 (TX+)
Pin 2 gray wire (RX–) loops to Pin 4 (TX–)
3. Set the code converter to address 00.
4. Press the RS-422 line test switch to the right of
the port.
5. If the LED adjacent top the port lights, that port
is working. If the LED remains off, the port is not
working.
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the next port.

Addendum F: Flashing Firmware on the RCSN422 Using an ADCASNET Module
Procedure
1. Download and install the ADCASNET utility from http://www.americandynamics.net. Click on
Support/Software Downloads/USB Control Module/USB Control Module Utilities/ADUtils_1_00.zip.
2. Download RCSN422 hex file from the web site and copy it to c:\program files\AD_Utilities (Note: This file
must be F2814-0102 or higher).
3. Set the code converter to address 32.
4. Launch the ADCASNET utility and click “Load Utility”.
5. Click the “Scan Network” icon; the load utility will look for the code converter on the right-hand screen.
6. Once it detects the code converter, the firmware version is displayed. For example: 2814-XXXX.
7. Click on the displayed version and then click “Load Snet Device”. A progress bar appears.
8. When complete, close the ADCASNET utility and reboot the code converter.
9. Rescan the code converter and verify firmware was updated.
