Alexa Built-in Quick Start Guide for BMW

When you activate Alexa Built-in voice technology in your BMW vehicle, you can ask to play music, listen to audiobooks, hear the news, check the weather, control smart home devices, get directions, find parking, and more — all with your voice, and all while you keep your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. The more you talk to Alexa, the more she adapts to your personal speech patterns, vocabulary, and preferences. This tutorial will explain how to enable Alexa Auto features in your BMW.

Attention: Before first usage make sure your BMW is connected in the MyBMW app.

Start Using Alexa in Your BMW

You will need a smartphone, internet connection, and the login details for your Amazon account. Once set up, users can use the voice controls in their vehicle to activate Amazon Alexa content using their BMW multimedia dashboard display and the voice recognition system in their vehicle.

1

MyBMW App: On your mobile device, open the MyBMW app and go to Profile >

Amazon Alexa and press Connect with Amazon. Enter your Amazon Log In data

and press Sign in. Choose your preferred language. Make sure to turn on Share My

Location With Amazon to get localized information like the weather. Allow your

myBMW App the usage of mobile data.

2

In your BMW: Make sure you are logged in with the same BMW ID as in the

MyBMW app. Go to Car > Settings > General Settings > Personal

Assistant>Voice Control > Check the boxes Online Speech Processing and Third

Party Providers. By checking the box Activation word you can simply talk to Alexa

directly, if you don't check the box you need to use the push to talk button before

you talk to Alexa.

3Now, pair your mobile device with your vehicle via Bluetooth. On the vehicle dashboard display, go to COM > Mobile Devices > New Device >

Phone calls and audio, Check if all three icons Music Note, Telephone and Apps (and Wi-Fi for Android) are active.

4On the Dashboard select the Connected Mobile Device and make sure the box Allow Connections under Apps is checked.

5If you checked the Activation Word box just say Alexa directly followed by your command or press the Push To Talk button on the steering wheel and then say e.g "Alexa ,how is the weather in Munich today?"
