Introduction

W ARNING
CAUTION
To avoid personal injury , wear gloves when performing
any installation procedure.
CAUTION
To avoid property damage, protect soft vinyl or other
flooring with protective material when moving
refrigerator. Verify wheels are clean before placing
refrigerator on flooring.
To avoid electrical shock which can cause severe
personal injury or death, disconnect power to
refrigerator before installing kit. After installing kit,
restore power.
W ARNING
To avoid severe personal injury from refrigerator
tipping over, do not open more than one door at a
time until refrigerator has been secured to the
structure. Secure refrigerator to structure using lag
bolts located in the refrigerator machine compartment.
Read entire manual before installing kit. A phillips
screwdriver, blade screwdriver with the blade covered in
masking tape must be available before installation. Verify
all listed parts are included in kit. If parts are missing,
contact source from whom kit was purchased.
• Mechanical experience is required to install kit.
• All surfaces must be clean, dry and free of
adhesive residue before installing facade.
• If unable to solve a problem during installation,
contact an authorized Amana technician. Locate a
Factory Service Center or independent authorized
technician by calling 1-800-628-5782 inside U.S.A.
and 1-319-622-5511 outside U.S.A. Service is at
owner's expense.

Procedure
• This kit is designed to be installed on a S148DA01
refrigerator with 1/4" perimiter trim, 1/4" decorator
panels and factory installed extruded handles.
1. Pry off one end of freezer handle screw insert with a
screwdriver, the blade covered with masking tape.
Pull handle screw insert away from door. Do not
discard handle insert. Insert will be used when
handle is reinstalled.
2. Remove thirteen 3/8" screws from freezer handle with
a phillips screwdriver. Remove handle from door.
CAUTION
To avoid damage to handle, maintain grip of handle
while removing screws. After screws are removed
handle will be loose and could fall.

5. If panels have not been installed, install them at this
time. Panel installation instructions can be found in
the
Installation Instructions
and Planning Guide
6. Dispenser facade is shipped from the factory with
actuator pads and facade insert already assembled.
Insert facade assembly into the dispenser cavity
opening until the two screw holes in the bottom of
the facade line up with the screw holes in the bottom
of your facade cavity .

3. Pry off one end of side trim screw insert with a
screwdriver, the blade covered with masking tape.
Pull screw insert away from door. Do not discard
handle insert. Insert will be used when handle is
reinstalled.
4. Remove 13 trim screws with phillips screwdriver and
pull side trim away from door.

• Crushed/cubed ice selector switch must show
through the square hole in the facade insert.
• Photocell must line up with sensor hole on the
facade.

• Make sure the sump trough in the facade is nested
under the sump lip on the dispenser cavity .

dispenser facade by peeling off. Press crushed/
cubed ice selector switch firmly in place. Make sure
indicator mark is on top. (See illustration below.)
10.Install sump grille by inserting two small hooks in
slots in back of facade and swing grille down until
front lip snaps over front edge.

7. Insert 7/16" screws through holes in bottom of facade
into dispenser cavity with a phillips screwdriver.
Tighten so screw heads are flush with facade.
8. Attach facade stop to top of inner cavity using two

/16" screws.

1 1. Replace side freezer door trim and freezer door
handle by replacing thirteen 3/8" screws removed in
steps 1 and 3. Make sure handle and side trim
captures facade and panel edges along entire length
of door.
12. Replace handle and side trim screw inserts removed
in steps 1 and 3. Start one edge of insert in track and
press other edge into track while working up side of
door.

9. Remove protective plastic film from surface of
