DESCRIPTION
The ALTEC 401C Loudspeaker is an advanced version of the
superior ALTEC 401В Loudspeaker designed specifically for use
in lov/ level music distribution and paging systems. Its compact
design and shallow depth greatly simplify installation problems.
The excellent high frequency response and wide range makes
the loudspeaker ideally suitable where excellent intelligibility
is required.
The high efficiency of the magnetic structure and wide distribu
tion angle of 90° at 3000 Hz reduce the number of speakers as
well as the amplifier power needed for good coverage. Addi
tional features of the design are the pre-drilled mounting holes
for 70 volt distribution transformers, high power capacity and
unusually wide frequency range. With these many features which
are not found in any other speaker of this type, the 401C Loud
speaker will prove superior in all low level music distribution
systems for quality, economy and reliability.

The loudspeaker shall be 814" in diameter, and shall have a minimum
sensitivity of 97 dB (SPL at 4.0 feet from 1.0 watt*) measured on axis.
The speaker shall have a continuous power rating of at least 15 watts.
The voice coil shall operate in a magnetic field of at least 10,250 gauss
derived from a ceramic magnet weighing no less than 10 ounces. The
frequency response shall be uniform over the range from 60 to 12,000
Hz and shall be free of peaks. The speaker shall have a broad angle
of coverage to 12,000 Hz. Free air resonance shall not exceed 97 Hz.
The speaker shall be sealed against dirt and magnetic dust. The total
depth of the speaker shall not exceed 3’^".
The speaker shall be the ALTEC Lansing Model 401C.
