ALTEC, offers a promising approach to design flexibility, in three non-powered speaker
systems, the ALTEC 1201B, 1202B, and 1204A. Most widely used by professional
musicians, these systems provide complete coverage for any requirement.
The ALTEC 1201B Column Speaker System may be used to fill any small alcove or
other area out of the main room. Compact and portable the 1201B provides a system
that is easy to handle, carefully engineered for optimum distribution and smoothness of
response.
Frequency response of the ALTEC 1201B Column Speaker System, is extremely wide,
from 70 to 14,000 Hz. Impedance is rated at 8 ohms, with power handling a very
conservative 50 watts.
The ALTEC 1202B Musical Instrument/Public Address Speaker System is a rugged,
attractiwiy styled speaker system patterned after ALTEC'S famous "The Voice of the
Theatre®" speakers. Featuring an 8 ohm impedance, the 1202B is capable of being
paralleled with another similar system and operated from a 4-ohm amplifier having up to
170 watts of continuous power. The system incorporates a highly efficient, high
frequency speaker and sectoral horn with a large low frequency speaker. Crossover
network of the 1202B is a full section LC type unit with crossover at 800 Hz.
The new ALTEC 1204A Wide Range Speaker System was designed to achieve the
performance required by professional musicians and is capable of being operated from
amplifiers rated at 85 watts continuous power output. Input impedance is 8 ohms and
two systems may be used with a 4-ohm amplifier. The high frequency section is supplied
with a high frequency driver coupled to a sectoral horn embodying a revolutionary new
diaphragm of ' construction.
The crossover network of the 1204A is a full section LC type unit with crossover at 500
Hz, including a switch to vary the high frequency output for control of acoustical output
for varying ambient noise conditions.
All of ALTEC'S Speaker Systems are of plywood construction with vinyl coverings and
vinyl edge bumpers. The 1202B and 1204A are fitted with casters for easy 'roll around'
handling.
Modern techniques in design and engineering is the key to consistent, excellent results,
and at ALTEC, quality standards must be the highest attainable.

1201B The column speaker shall be 30" high x 10-3/4" deep x 13-3/4" wide. The weight of the column weaker shall not exceed 35 pounds.
The column speaker system ^all have a power rating of 50 watts continuous power. The frequency response shall be from 70 to 14,000 Hz.
I mpedance shall be rated at 8 ohms. The column speaker system shall employ two heavy duty 10" cone type speakers. The speaker system shall
include 20 feet of cable with standard phone plugs molded at each end.
1202B The musical instrument/public address system shall be of the two-way theatre type, with a frequency response of 40 to 15,000 Hz. The speaker
system ^all have an efficiency rating of 100 dB {53 dB El A rating), average sound pressure level over the band of 600 — 2400 Hz with a warble
tone applied at 1 electrical watt measured at a distance of 4 feet. The speaker system shall have an impedance of 8 ohms and a power handling
capacity of 85 watts continuous power.

crossover network.
The enclosure shall be of the bass reflex type, 3/4" plywood construction with a vinyl covering and vinyl edge bumpers. The enclosure shall be
fitted with casters and a side handle for ease of handling.
Overall size of the system shall be 42" high x 24" deep x 23" wide. Weight shall not exceed 106 pounds. The speaker system shall include 20
feet of cable with standard phone plugs molded on each end.
1204A The wide range speaker system shall be of the two-way theatre type. Frequency response shall be 35 to 20,000 Hz. The speaker system shall
have an efficiency rating of 102 dB SPL (55 dB EIA rating) average sound pressure level over the band 600 — 2400 Hz with a warble tone
applied at 1 electrical watt measured at a distance of 4 feet.
The speaker system shall have a power rating of 85 watts continuous, with an impedance of 8 ohms. Crossover frequency shall be at 500 Hz.
The speaker system shall employ one low frequency bass weaker; one high frequency speaker 500 Hz sectoral horn. The high frequency driver
shall employ a new " diaphragm a^mbly coupled to the high frequency horn.
The enclosure shall be of the infinite baffle type, 3/4" plywood construction with a vinyl covering and vinyl edge bumpers. The enclosure shall
be fitted with casters and a side handle for ease of handling.
Overall size of the system shall be 45” high x 28" wide x 25-1/2" deep (over handle and horn). Weight shall not exceed 120 pounds. The
weaker system shall include 20 feet of cable with standard phone plugs molded at each end.
Any speaker system not meeting these requirements shall be deemed unacceptable under these specifications.
The column speaker system shall be A LTEC Lansing model 1201B.
The musical instrument/public address system shall be ALTEC Lansing model 1202B.
The wide range speaker system shall be ALTEC Lansing model 1204A.
