Quick Start Guide
NOTE:
Before applying power, verify power supply rating is matched to AC input utility. Verify a low-resistance ground is installed in accordance with the NEC (refer to CableUPS Power Supply technical manual for details).
In-Service Connection Procedure
1. Verify Service Power Inserter (SPI) toggle switch in ON position (not ALT).
2. The unit is now in service. Download the Technical Manual at: www.alpha.com.
Pre-Service Connection Procedure (reference callouts at right)
Verify the Inverter Module’s battery breaker is OFF. 1.
WARNING!
Verify battery voltage, cable color, connection and polarity are correct before proceeding.
Connect battery cables to battery input connector.2.
Install temperature probe cable.3.
Insert Local/Remote Indicator (LRI) cable (optional).4.
Connect status monitoring connectors, including tamper switch (if installed).5.
Verify SPI switch is in “ALT” position.6.
Connect the SPI (network load) to the Output 1A connector. 7.
Connect an auxiliary load (e.g., fan) to the Output 1B connector (optional).8.
Switch the Inverter Module’s battery breaker ON. 9.
Turn on AC breaker (located on enclosure) and verify correct (per unit’s nameplate voltage) 10. utility voltage at outlet; if correct, plug in line cord to the utility outlet.
Verify no alarms are present (it may take up to 60 seconds for alarms to clear).11.
12. Once unit is running on line voltage, perform a self-test by simultaneously pressing the DOWN arrow key and ENTER key. Wait for Self-test completion before proceeding. Note: If the unit
is operating from batteries, the self-test will not initiate.
13. Perform this inverter test procedure:
a.) Turn AC input breaker OFF. b.) Verify unit transfers to “Inverter” mode. c.) Turn AC input breaker ON. d.) Verify unit transfers back to utility.
