The strobe light unit(s) shall be Alpha Communications® LI424B or
approved equal. Operation shall be accomplished by placing a c all
to an apartment intercom (or video-intercom) station. T he strobe
shall flash for approximat ely 20-35 seconds after act ivation of the
incoming call signal.
The strobe light shall have a brightness of 15 candela per UL®
1971 (75 c andela per UL® 1638). It shall be encased in an
att ract ive, flame retardant t ype ABS plastic housing.
The strobe light shall meet ADA and UL® requirements for signaling
appliances. T he st robe shall be powered by t he appropriate 24VDC
power source (IA543, PK601A or equivalent). Current draw shall be
120mA.
Contractor shall observe all local and national electrical and
building codes.

LI424B Flashing Strobe for Hearing ImpairedLI424B Flashing Strobe for Hearing Impaired
The Alpha Communications® LI424B strobe is a high-intensity
remot e visual signaling device which is t ypically used with the
Alpha Communicat ions® IA543 amplifier apartment intercom
systems, and opt ionally with the Alpha Communications® IA502
multi- entrance transfer relay(s).
Due t o its versatility, t he LI424B can also be used as a stand-
alone device, which c an be triggered by a dry c ontact pushbutton
or dry cont act relay closure.
The unit is primarily for use in locations where hearing-impaired
persons require supplemental call notification, but c an be used
anywhere that a visual indicat ion of an incoming call is desired.
The bright st robe light flashes onc e a sec ond for approximately 2035 seconds when an incoming c all is detec ted (depending on
amperage of t he 24VDC power supply).
The device can be installed onto a standard 4-inch square
elect rical box or similar indoor openings. It is not a weatherproof
device and therefore should not be used for any outdoor
applications. Installation is facilitated by use of simple connect ions
to the pre-mounted c ircuitry and a complement of mounting
hardware.
