Architects' And Engineers' Specifications

The strobe light unit(s) shall be Alpha Communications® / TekTone

LI404B or approved equal. Operation shall be acc omplished by

placing a c all to an apartment intercom (or video-intercom)
stat ion. The strobe shall flash for approximately 15-20 sec onds
after act ivation of the incoming call signal.

The strobe light shall have a brightness of 15 candela per UL®
1971 (75 c andela per UL® 1638). It shall be encased in an
att ract ive, flame retardant type ABS plastic housing.

The strobe light shall meet ADA and UL® requirements for signaling
appliances. The st robe shall be powered by the appropriate 24VDC
power source (PK601A or equivalent).

Contract or shall observe all local and national electrical and
building codes.

LI404B Strobe Unit For Hearing-Impaired

The Alpha Communicat ions® / TekTone LI404B strobe is a high-
intensity remote visual signaling device for use with Alpha
Communications® IA543, PK543, PK543A, PK205, or

PK292A amplifier apartment systems, and optionally with the

Alpha Communications® IA502 or PK502B transfer relay(s).

The unit is primarily for use in locations where hearing­impaired persons require supplemental call notification, but can be
used anywhere t hat a visual indication of an incoming call is
desired. The bright st robe light flashes onc e a second for
approximately 15-20 seconds when an incoming c all is detec ted.

The device c an be installed in most standard single or double
gang elect rical boxes or similar indoor openings. It is not a
weatherproof device and therefore should not be used for any
outdoor applications. Installation is facilitat ed by use of simple
connections to the pre-mounted circuitry and a c omplement of
mounting hardware. The LI404B's st robe light portion meets
ADA and UL® 1971 requirements.

PK292A and related system components (IA502 /
PK502B transfer relays, IS, IR & TA apt . st ations, CM & AM

& VI or similar entrance panels).

PK601A Power Supply (requires SS106 transformer for

power). One (1) per system when used with apartment
amplifier(s) shown above, or one (1) per unit when used as
stand- alone strobe(s).
