Architects' And Engineers' Specifications

The entrance panel(s) shall be Alpha Communicat ions® /
TekTone AM492 Series Tek-Guard™ Speaker Panel or approved
equal,and shall provide for up t o 18 push buttons per panel (when
used with speaker). For buildings requiring larger panels,
contract or shall furnish and install the required number of AM490
series add-on button only modules, as required.

Push button switc hes shall be individually replac eable plastic
type with self wiping contac ts with solid (black anodized)
extruded aluminum act uators. In addition, the panel shall cont ain
up to 18 individual name holders. The name holders shall be made
of BLACK flame retardant polycarbonate plastic strips t o
protect c ard inserts. Each name holder shall snap into t wo small
slots on the panel itself and shall be individually replaceable. Panel
shall be of vandal-resistant c onstruction with metal push
button act uators and louvered met al speaker grille.

Each AM492 Panel, or approved equal, shall be supplied with name
card sheets t hat may be easily separated into individual
name st rips. Name strips shall be inserted into name holders
without the use of tools.

The panel shall be flush (or surfac e) mounted and shall be
finished in natural anodized aluminum finish, with appropriate panel
frame and housing as required.

AM492 Series Tek-Guard™ Vandal-Resistant Apt.

Intercom Entrance Panel

The Alpha Communicat ions® AM492 series Tek-Guard™ Vandal­Resistant ent rance panel is a modular series for use with simplex
type, loudspeaker suite stat ions.

Panels are equipped with a mylar, voice-frequency
response speaker protec ted by a louvered speaker grille. The
speaker panel can acc ommodate up to 18 push buttons. The
aluminum push button act uators may be engraved with up to four
letter/digit c ombinations (at extra c ost). For more t han 18 suites
the AM492 is used in conjunction with the AM490 series
push button panel modules (without a speaker).

Pressing the butt on corresponding to the desired name and
suite number causes a signal at the apartment stat ion. The
resident may then c onverse with the c aller. Controlled entry is
permitted by push button operation of the elect ric door release.

AM492 panels with 0 - 10 buttons are available with postal option

(add suffix 'P' to t he model number).
