Architects' And Engineers'

Specifications

The power supply/amplifier shall be Alpha
Communications® / Elvox model 6680, or
approved equal. Amplifier shall operate from a
standard 120VAC power source. All other wiring
to power supply/amplifier shall be low-voltage
Class II wiring, installed as per all federal, state,
and local elec trical codes. Power supply/amplifier
shall surfac e mount right to the finished wall and
shall be installed in a suitable environment that
is free from excessive dirt, dust , temperature,
humidity, grease and water.
Power supply/amplifier shall provide the intercom
amplification and signaling power for proper
system operation. For most secure installation,
power supply should be installed into a lockable
equipment cabinet/housing. The 6680 is
designed to be used with t he 6300 series
apartment video-intercom monitor units (or
equivalent).

Power supply/amplifier shall be installed a safe
distance from any source of elect rical
interference.

Contract or shall observe all local and national
elect rical and building codes.

6680 Amplifier/Power Supply

The Alpha Communicat ions® / Elvox 6680 amplifier/power supplies are used with the

6300 series video-intercom systems (or equivalent), t o provide intercom

amplification, power to operate the elect ric door opener(s) et c., and power to
operate t he video monitor units, for a single building entrance.

The 6680 units eac h require a standard 120VAC power source.

These 6680 amplifier/power supplies are designed to easily surfac e mount right onto
the finished wall by means of c ustomer supplied sc rews. Connections are positive
screw terminal type.

Only one (1) 6680 is required for eac h syst em, regardless of the number of monitors
(1 per apt.).

Wiring Requirements

Basic video-intercom riser wiring shall be 4-c ommon #22AWG, 2- c ommon #18AWG,
1-RG59/U (all copper minimum 95% braid) c oaxial c able common and 1 selec tive wire
#22AWG, for eac h video monitor st ation c onnect ed to the riser c able. Add one (or
more) additional common wires if other monitor functions will be used. See system
wiring diagram(s) for more c omplete wiring information.
