The handset station(s) shall be Alpha
Communications® / Elvox™ 8870 series 5-wire

handset(s), or approved equal.

Handset(s) shall be surface wall mounted, directly on
t h e wall or over a single gang elect rical 'gem' box.

Handset(s) shall be finished in a White ABS plastic finish.
Ha n d s et ( s ) shall feat ure elect ret c ondenser type
microphone for exceptional voice fidelity. Handset(s) shall
include a door release (KEY SYMBOL) button and auxiliary
( L A M P SYMBOL) push button. Push butt ons shall be
c learly visible and shall be permanently marked in a
deboss ed fashion. Handset(s) shall include a built-in AC
buzzer for signaling. Handset(s) shall be used with t he 831
or 931 series amplifier/power supply.

Contractor shall obs erve all local and national electrical
and building c odes.

The Alpha Communications®™ / Elvox 8870 Series
handsets are primarily designed to work as an apartment

type handset intercom station, and are designed as 5­wire models. They c an be used with intercom only
systems or audio add-ons to certain compatible video­intercom systems.

These at tract ive handsets easily surface mount right
on the wall or over a single gang flush electrical bac k box
(or plaster ring).

T h e 8870 series handsets feature electric buzzer
signalling, elec tret c ondenser microphones and (2) two
momentary butt on switches. These switches c an be used
for door release, paging or other signalling functions,
depending upon syst em configuration.

With the addition of a low-c ost Model R2007
AlphaTone™ c hime adapter, you can easily change t he
elect ric buzzer to a modern warble chime tone sound.
